@DaBrizzy it sounds like he's using an effects pedal because these basses are made of really horrible, low quality agathis "tonewood" (not alder, as the video states) producing very strong, distracting overtones. it's impossible to eliminate that sound.
@doctordogballs Actually the reason it sounds like that is because he is using pinch harmonics on those notes that sound like they are through pedals. And if anyone has any qualms about the body material, I just wanted to point out that you can put on higher mass bridges or a fat finger to fix the sound. Take it from a music store guitar tech.
@erhock92 I've owned one of these in the past so I "take it" from my own experience. I didn't say anything his harmonics, and I do know the difference. Segment 0:47 - 1:07 is not pinch harmonics and this segment exhibits the horrid tone I was referring to.
@doctordogballs Ok. my mistake. Thats just the dialed in tone then. Because Ive worked on enough of these to know you can get some pretty good sounds out of it. As far as your previous ownership of one, Im sorry to hear it wasnt a good experience, did you try using a higher mass bridge or a fat finger? Because most of your tone comes from the neck and the bridge not the body, the body just changes the voicing of the bass.
These Basses Are Getting Better and better, after 30 years of Playing I can say squire Modified Basses are well made well built and can rival the American fender's.

@DaBrizzy There was no reverb, delay or any other FX used. It was run straight through a Mark Bass Combo!

Sounds like you're using an effect... do you have reverb or a slight delay or fx on the output? Thanks! :)
