If you are a man, Once you have a samurai sword polished in your hands, You would feel like to cut down something. Samurai sword has something fairy power makes a man go crazy.
Banning things always seems annoying and pointless to me. It stops decent people from being able to get the things, in this case cheap katanas, but it won't stop criminals... that's the thing with criminals, they don't tend to obey the law......
Classic Labour party, someone gets killed by something so they all get banned. For fuck sake, they would ban bricks if one killed someone. Like with guns - it's not legal ones you need to worry about so why the fuck ban it?? Criminals can get hold of a gun easily and illegally so why ban the fucking legal ones?? Stupid far-left assholes
Wait what? Authentic katanas are not as much of a threat? Okay, sure. An authentic Yoshihara sword in capable hands could slice a human clean in half.
Great job that woman did, making her backwards-ass country even more backwards! Congrats Brits, you're even more pathetic now than before! I like how authentic swords are still available, despite the fact that they're three times sharper and will last ten times longer than replicas!
dumb bitch! Just because someone was killed by a fucking katana, doesn't mean you ban it. that gives bad people that weapon and it is banned to people who will use it responsibly.
So.. this would have happened if he had a kitchen knife? Axe, chainsaw, wooden spear... You know. People kill people. Take every weapon away, people will kill each other in hand to hand combat. We as humans have gone through lengths of time, effort and resources to find better ways to kill each other. If you want to stop things like that from happing; WE have to change.
Sucks to be british maybe they'll ban fireaxes, baseball bats, sledgehammers anything they can blame on gta. Next thing they will ban straws because it poke someones eye out
look. provided it is hand forged forged (doesnt matter if its traditional method or not) provided it is differnetially tempered (it doesnt even have to be folded) and hand made its fine.... you can buy a legal practical samurai sword by paul chen for as little as £200.... so please stop trolling people
Any one of these people could probably obtain an authentic S.A.S. issue combat knife with equal or lesser effort to buying an economically produced replica, such as the piece of junk that cop showed. 5:25 The crown wouldn't dare prohibit such things; not so much for their self-defense practicality, but because it's been the trademark weapon of the British lands since recorded history! Nationalistic bias is so blatant in a decision to only ban display replicas of a particular cultural weapon.
ok samurai sword ... i live in britain and i was very suprised that it has been banned. in my opinion loooots of nonsense. ex: tons of people killed in the norway by one psycho he was using the firearm has it been banned : NO! 92 people killed who cares it is just a firearm. then a psycho goes and decides to take few slashes at people in uk. @AmpEnV Didnt it say theres only a ban on importing imatations of samari swords not authentic katanas? Ive read comments on youtube videos about peoples imported katanas being seized at customs and costing thousands to get back after going through small claims court.

Wait! -> "Authentic swords will be exempt, they are expensive, rare and pose no threat." ...Uh... did he just say a Nihonto/Shinken is OK, but a "fake" Sword is not? How is that supposed to make sence?!
Sidenote: I am a Iaidoka and I can understand that woman. What she is been through is horrible and of course she is highly affected. But to say "she deserves death" because of her actions, is absolutely inhuman and just shows that there are ppl who should not wear a sword - or even a pencil...
And what about knights sword? Or they are more humanistic! That is insane! I can pick up a kitchen knife and do the same wounds! That is to say , they must ban all stuffs whit sharp edges , golf sticks and so on...
seriously? there were way more gun crimes in those years than there were blade crimes. 100 crimes isnt as bad as the 1 killed every hour in the us by gun crime. the government should rethink they're laws about these swords
Stupid bitch. Anyone could pick up a hammer and do just as much damage. All this stupid BITCH did was make it nearly impossible for martial artists to practice martial arts. FUCK her. I hope someone bashes her head in with a hammer.
@bamboo4tameshigiri dude your right what if a japanese martial artist wants to come to the uk but must give up martial arts, even if it were a family tradition. she should be hit with more than a hammer, she should be executed by angry martial artist's using the 'eye for an eye' saying. she deserves to die a grueling painful death. i find it an insult that she would stop a traditional japanese weapon from being obtained for general use on private property or some shit like that.
You can train just as well with a Bokken. In addition, only imitation swords are banned. Not that I think this will do anything to reduce crime, but you are over reacting just as much as the Parliament.
@116Bears No, you cannot train in the same way w/Bokuto. A shinken has a different weight to it, besides, tameshigiri is an integral part of Kenjutsu training. Besides the point, why ban swords? No point in doing so. Only interfering w/people's freedom to possess something they feel they need or simply want. That is incorrect
people will just change the weapon they use ie metal bars baseball bat ,cricket bat ,machette you will not stop nutters by creating this knee jerk law . if some psycho wants to get a weapon they will do
Banning swords, or any other weapon will not reduce the amount of murders. If someone wants to kill someone else they are gonna find a way to do it. Ban swords and he will use a knife. Ban pistols and he will use a shotgun. Banning weapons doesnt help, it only makes good people defensless
ive just been doing a bit of reading up, the law got adjusted, swords made useing traditinal methods are exempt, so you can still buy swords made by people like hanwei and paul chen. so its only the orniment swords wich are banned, provided its been forged its fine, woop. oriental-weaponry .co.uk (without the space) is a good place for UK buyers who want a genuine sword
@thugz0rz it was the cheap sword people were useing against people, not the propper forged ones, yet they ban them all. i have a propper sword, was legal when i got it. (£230 ryumon dragon sword) and knife crime is bigger than sword crime, also allot of gun crime in big citys and there illegal without a licence, people still have them, by banning all swords its punishing collectors and enthusiasts, if they just banned the cheap ones and have a licence for the real ones would that not be better?
@thugz0rz the tool isnt the problem, it's only the person thats the problem, because they can always find another tool even if its a carving knife, or a hammer, or what about a rock, can you really ban rocks?
Mothers against knifes... stupidest damn thing i ever heard, whats next fathers against teddy bears?
This won't help anything or anyone, do you know how many people DIE in car wrecks? its not about the item in question, its so STUPID to ban a sword, did they even say why the person stabbed him? was the person on drugs? did you know 100's of people DIE each year from ASPIRIN? yet they ban this, think about it people pure unsaturated bull crap!
This is just about unarming the people using excuses!
This isn't about safety this is about using an excuse to take more away from people, create more laws and suppress people, you could bring up a 1000 random people going crazy and they will put the spotlight on the thing they got there hands on instead of why the person went nuts, most of the time its drugs LEGAL drugs,in prison they can make a weapon out of anything and kill someone, you can't disarm the world, were not all prisoners either, if someone had a gun they could have shot him lol
so if people stabbed people with a garden fork that would easily kill would you ban garden forks? what about stragling someone band hands? i did kick boxing there is alot of ways of killing with out a "weapon" hell you could kill with a heavey ash tray so when will they ban wood i mean hitting someone with a heavey pice of wood could kill so can hammers and even house ornaments what about the burglers trusty crow bar? screw driver? pen? all deadly in the wrong hands its the person
The British government has banned all firearms, (you can get a shotgun after going through a millions hoops, and regulations) Theyve banned all knives. Literally everything is banned in the UK,
Yet London gun crime is sky rocketing...
I thought banning weapons stopped crime? Isnt that reasons they give us?
When will people learn that CRIMINALS have that title for a reason. THEY DONT OBEY POSTED LAWS. STOP TRYING.
i own a sword and live in england. its a ryumon hand forged sword, cost me £230 but retails at £400. imitation swords should be illigal everwhere there pointless theres noting gratifying knowing you own a £30 peice of crap
@bassistoftheyear so even though its a genuine imported sword, hand made and expensive, 58HRC on the edge 45HRC on the spine its till illigal? i pretty sure that most idiots who would want to cause harm with sword wouldn't spend £200-£500 on a sword, theyd get a cheep £30 job that could still do some damage. i swear the govenment is annoying, lets ban tooth picks someone could stab someone in the neck with it!! dunno if sarcasm really works in text but they you are. :)
@samuraistorm89 just because it's a nice sword does not make it authentic. it all comes down to your definition and i choose to use japans own that a sword is not "authentic" unless it is an antique. however i don't know anyone who would try to mug someone with a sword that's just ridiculous in this day and age. and simply saying it's imported mean nothing... where's it imported from? japan? mexico? china?
@bassistoftheyear its actually from china (the longquan forge) (some good swords made there due to the raw materials having good propertys)(high in carbon) its a famous forge. i'd post a link but it wont let me for some reason.... i'll message it you if you dont mind, its interesting
@samuraistorm89 plus your argument makes no sense, they should ban cheap ones but not ones that can really do some damage? well anyway i'm not for the banning of any weapon because it truly is the user not the weapon that makes it dangerous.
@bassistoftheyear if anything the cheap ones are more dangerous, because there so cheap they are availible on a low budget and they can do allot of damage, they could still do allot of damage, only differnce between a cheap and expencive on is that the expencive ones are sharper and will last ages even after repeted cutting on Tameshigiri matts and there less likely to snap in half
@bassistoftheyear "RY-3041" google that model number, first link, thats my sword, tell me its not a beautiful think, i would never dream of useing it on anything other than cutting mats.
@samuraistorm89 Your Ryumon sword is by definition a Katana Replica or copy. See the definition on the law from your country. Authentic japanese Katana or Shinken are worth 10 000 USD approx. Two types of "real" katana exist: Shinsakuto (forged after 1945 by a japanese government sanctioned swordsmith in Japan) and nihonto (old/antiques)
Its a bloody SWORD.Whether it is a Katana.A longsword.A claymore. It got banned because of HER.Because her son was killed by a Katana. No other reason.I can bet that if her son was killed by a longsword.A pocket knife.Even beaten to death with a shoe she would have had it banned.I am sorry for her loss but dont bring the whole of UK into your problems.
this is why i hate ignorant ppl say baning guns will reduce crime. they never seem to understand when i tell them that guns arent criminals, criminals are criminals, and that guns are tools in a crime and not the crime itself; then id back up my argument by sayin if a criminal didnt have a gun theyd use other things such as blunt weapon or a sharp weapon and that criminals will adapt and that they arent going to just sit there and say "dammit no more guns = no more crime." but no, no one listens
"authentic swords are exempt, they pose little threat" hahahahaha what a fucking dumbass.
i thought our weapon laws were bad here in california i feel bad for you law abiding citizens in england, no guns and now no SWORDS? wow. dont worry thou the criminals will still have their swords just you good people wont.
It's amazing how when people do terrible things, government legislators like say that the tools are the problem, rather than hold evil people responsible for doing evil things. It's an easy 'fix', to legislate against certain 'tools', because then they don't have to address the real problem, which is that some people are just no damn good.
So, consider the guy in the begining, going nuts in a highway, if he wasn't carrying a katana it'd be alright, right? And what about this 2:48 : police car endanger civilians trying to force an accident to stop another nuts, 3:29 : police men driving the wrong way and then 3:56 almost hiting another police car, all this just to arest a crazy guy, but, if he wasn't carrying a katana, nevermind it'd be alright!
how do you classify "authentic" swords? Is it the method of forging or the qualifications of the swordsmith? You can buy relatively cheap samurai swords that are made properly with the proper steels by masters who hold the same certifications as japanese swordsmiths. And I would imagine the authentic kind would actually pose more of a threat since they don't break or dull as easily. the UK seems like its going down the crapper anyways
Tens of thousands of people die because of cars every year. Hundreds die from household items like knives and screwdrivers...but the government bans swords - as if a criminal ever cared about respecting the law and not using an "illegal" weapon. Stupid politicians.
haha right, katana can still be made authentically even these days. and even the older katanas do much more damage than blacksmith styled or machine crafted.... i don't think they banned it right.
The dumb ass brits have already banned kitchen knives over 6 inches , oh and you don't need to have a point on them either . Unless your job requires it u can't have any tools in your car either . How stupid can you get !!!!!!
Perhaps they should ban any item which could be used to harm another human? Who needs autos, trains, kitchen cutlery, wood, steel, tubing, glass, electricity, ropes, cords, hands, feet, arms, legs, books, cans, rocks, cement, dishes, cloth, plastic, chemicals, water, foodstuffs, gas, and on and on and on and on and on..................
Truth is, they want the public totally at the mercy of armed government. No weapon ever kills anyone - it is the mindset of the person behind the weapon that potentially kills. By focusing on the weapons, government avoids focusing on the causes of violence. What is it that is so wrong in our society, that breeds so many violent people? Could it be, that injustice is so rampant, that it acts as a permanent reservoir of resentment? Only when you know serious injustice personally, can you know.
How do they define the difference between an authentic katana and a replica? Just because the sword was forged yesterday doesn't mean that it's a replica.
What? A sword actually killing people and murders occurring with them, who'd of thunk it? It's easier to buy a stick and plenty of people get beaten to death with those every year. Are we going to start banning sticks too? <_<
This is fan an example of government gone awry. In the countries where arms control is implemented the government is tyrannical and oppresses its people. Ironically where legal arms ownership is restricted thriving illegal arms trade thrives. Ultimately the citizen is left to the mercy of government troops and the local thugs. For examples of this see Mexico, Japan, the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, and China.
i rly hate waching such a awesome sword being used by such idiots. im feeling a little more at ease tht the american constitution allow people having guns. but of course, guns are nnot very good either...
Dear politician, have you ever considered that weapons dont kill people, people kill people! Criminals will allways find weapons to do their damage legal or illegal one, but laws affect how people can protect themselves. In Swizerland crime rates are very low despite the fact, that everyone who has served in millitary have big gun at home. And because of conscription, almost every adult man has one.
Let people protect themselves with knives and guns on the condition that they are trained, licensed, and under penalty and permanent disarmament for life if they misbehave, just like with CCW's in my state.
If criminal are at risk of injury or death at the hands of their victims, they will be discouraged and crime will drop on the whole.
Fuck sake like. A wood axe can kill some one but i don't see them being banned its fucked that things like this are banned when simple tools can be used to kill people just as dead I mean i wanted to own a sword just to have one and now I cant because of this bullshit
@DarkImpalement Look harder and be willing to actually spend some money. Forged curved swords are still legal, as are all straight swords. I have a number of swords from Hanwei and am looking into getting one from Fabri Armorum or importing an "A. Trim" sword from Valiant Armory.
@DarkImpalement Look harder and be willing to actually spend some money. Forged curved swords are still legal, as are all straight swords. I have a number of swords from Hanwei and am looking into getting one from Fabri Armorum or importing an "A. Trim" sword from Valiant Armory.
maybe if your god damn cops carried guns they'd be able to neutralize the threats, who the hell uses a samurai sword to commit a crime anyway get a gun or stay home
Uk government are dumb idiots yeah right so guns cause crime? and swords? and knives? and free sepach? and all human rights? lets take them away, ah no crime as everyones in the gas chambers, weapon restriction are the start to genosided, hilter pol pot stalin all disarmed the people all mass merderers, i'm moving to america the uk is shit
Quite surprisingly, apparently these "Samurai" swords are banned in the UK, however you are allowed to get one as long your over 18 so that banned pretty much failed.
@xxLIONKINGxx1 In the UK it is mostly yuppie toffs who dislike the gun control. If you live in an inner city area the last thing you want is a chav running round with a gun or a katana. Manchester is a fairly fucked up area but its shang ri la compared with places like Compton.
If you are a man, Once you have a samurai sword polished in your hands, You would feel like to cut down something. Samurai sword has something fairy power makes a man go crazy.

seriously? there were way more gun crimes in those years than there were blade crimes. 100 crimes isnt as bad as the 1 killed every hour in the us by gun crime. the government should rethink they're laws about these swords
MrMycards123 4 months ago
Stupid bitch. Anyone could pick up a hammer and do just as much damage. All this stupid BITCH did was make it nearly impossible for martial artists to practice martial arts. FUCK her. I hope someone bashes her head in with a hammer.
bamboo4tameshigiri 4 months ago 32
@bamboo4tameshigiri dude your right what if a japanese martial artist wants to come to the uk but must give up martial arts, even if it were a family tradition. she should be hit with more than a hammer, she should be executed by angry martial artist's using the 'eye for an eye' saying. she deserves to die a grueling painful death. i find it an insult that she would stop a traditional japanese weapon from being obtained for general use on private property or some shit like that.
MrMycards123 4 months ago
@bamboo4tameshigiri be quiet! Someone can hear you and use a hammer for a murder! And that will put blacksmiths out of work!
SeasideDreamer1 4 months ago in playlist Liked 2
@bamboo4tameshigiri
You can train just as well with a Bokken. In addition, only imitation swords are banned. Not that I think this will do anything to reduce crime, but you are over reacting just as much as the Parliament.
116Bears 1 month ago in playlist More videos from kinsei1560
@116Bears No, you cannot train in the same way w/Bokuto. A shinken has a different weight to it, besides, tameshigiri is an integral part of Kenjutsu training. Besides the point, why ban swords? No point in doing so. Only interfering w/people's freedom to possess something they feel they need or simply want. That is incorrect
drjlalcaraz 1 month ago
people will just change the weapon they use ie metal bars baseball bat ,cricket bat ,machette you will not stop nutters by creating this knee jerk law . if some psycho wants to get a weapon they will do

Are they gonna ban English Broadswords once people start using those for crimes?
ScandinaviansAreCool 4 months ago 3
Banning swords, or any other weapon will not reduce the amount of murders. If someone wants to kill someone else they are gonna find a way to do it. Ban swords and he will use a knife. Ban pistols and he will use a shotgun. Banning weapons doesnt help, it only makes good people defensless
ScandinaviansAreCool 4 months ago 4
LOL if some nutjob was doing things like this with a sword or a gun in the USA, some normal citizen would shoot him dead.

samuraistorm89 4 months ago
ive just been doing a bit of reading up, the law got adjusted, swords made useing traditinal methods are exempt, so you can still buy swords made by people like hanwei and paul chen. so its only the orniment swords wich are banned, provided its been forged its fine, woop. oriental-weaponry .co.uk (without the space) is a good place for UK buyers who want a genuine sword
samuraistorm89 4 months ago
wow some of you are really retard. fuck the damn swords. if they are cheaper than a fireweapon, and are being used to do harm. then its bad, period.
the problem is the man, true. but you take away one of his tools, then you did good.
sorry if u live in UK and love samurai swords but lives are more important than a personal hobbie
thugz0rz 4 months ago
@thugz0rz it was the cheap sword people were useing against people, not the propper forged ones, yet they ban them all. i have a propper sword, was legal when i got it. (£230 ryumon dragon sword) and knife crime is bigger than sword crime, also allot of gun crime in big citys and there illegal without a licence, people still have them, by banning all swords its punishing collectors and enthusiasts, if they just banned the cheap ones and have a licence for the real ones would that not be better?
samuraistorm89 4 months ago
@samuraistorm89
putting in that way, i agree, yes.
thugz0rz 4 months ago

Lokeydin 4 months ago
This isn't about safety this is about using an excuse to take more away from people, create more laws and suppress people, you could bring up a 1000 random people going crazy and they will put the spotlight on the thing they got there hands on instead of why the person went nuts, most of the time its drugs LEGAL drugs,in prison they can make a weapon out of anything and kill someone, you can't disarm the world, were not all prisoners either, if someone had a gun they could have shot him lol
Lokeydin 4 months ago
so if people stabbed people with a garden fork that would easily kill would you ban garden forks? what about stragling someone band hands? i did kick boxing there is alot of ways of killing with out a "weapon" hell you could kill with a heavey ash tray so when will they ban wood i mean hitting someone with a heavey pice of wood could kill so can hammers and even house ornaments what about the burglers trusty crow bar? screw driver? pen? all deadly in the wrong hands its the person

Yet London gun crime is sky rocketing...

i own a sword and live in england. its a ryumon hand forged sword, cost me £230 but retails at £400. imitation swords should be illigal everwhere there pointless theres noting gratifying knowing you own a £30 peice of crap
samuraistorm89 5 months ago
@samuraistorm89 sorry to tell you that is not "authentic" either maybe by law but authenticity mean that it's old not simply expensive
bassistoftheyear 5 months ago
@bassistoftheyear so even though its a genuine imported sword, hand made and expensive, 58HRC on the edge 45HRC on the spine its till illigal? i pretty sure that most idiots who would want to cause harm with sword wouldn't spend £200-£500 on a sword, theyd get a cheep £30 job that could still do some damage. i swear the govenment is annoying, lets ban tooth picks someone could stab someone in the neck with it!! dunno if sarcasm really works in text but they you are. :)
samuraistorm89 4 months ago
@samuraistorm89 just because it's a nice sword does not make it authentic. it all comes down to your definition and i choose to use japans own that a sword is not "authentic" unless it is an antique. however i don't know anyone who would try to mug someone with a sword that's just ridiculous in this day and age. and simply saying it's imported mean nothing... where's it imported from? japan? mexico? china?
bassistoftheyear 4 months ago
@bassistoftheyear its actually from china (the longquan forge) (some good swords made there due to the raw materials having good propertys)(high in carbon) its a famous forge. i'd post a link but it wont let me for some reason.... i'll message it you if you dont mind, its interesting
samuraistorm89 4 months ago
@samuraistorm89 plus your argument makes no sense, they should ban cheap ones but not ones that can really do some damage? well anyway i'm not for the banning of any weapon because it truly is the user not the weapon that makes it dangerous.
bassistoftheyear 4 months ago
@bassistoftheyear if anything the cheap ones are more dangerous, because there so cheap they are availible on a low budget and they can do allot of damage, they could still do allot of damage, only differnce between a cheap and expencive on is that the expencive ones are sharper and will last ages even after repeted cutting on Tameshigiri matts and there less likely to snap in half
samuraistorm89 4 months ago
@samuraistorm89 its a little cheaper now
samuraistorm89 4 months ago
@bassistoftheyear "RY-3041" google that model number, first link, thats my sword, tell me its not a beautiful think, i would never dream of useing it on anything other than cutting mats.
samuraistorm89 4 months ago

MasterofrandomAlex 5 months ago
this is why i hate ignorant ppl say baning guns will reduce crime. they never seem to understand when i tell them that guns arent criminals, criminals are criminals, and that guns are tools in a crime and not the crime itself; then id back up my argument by sayin if a criminal didnt have a gun theyd use other things such as blunt weapon or a sharp weapon and that criminals will adapt and that they arent going to just sit there and say "dammit no more guns = no more crime." but no, no one listens

It's amazing how when people do terrible things, government legislators like say that the tools are the problem, rather than hold evil people responsible for doing evil things. It's an easy 'fix', to legislate against certain 'tools', because then they don't have to address the real problem, which is that some people are just no damn good.

how do you classify "authentic" swords? Is it the method of forging or the qualifications of the swordsmith? You can buy relatively cheap samurai swords that are made properly with the proper steels by masters who hold the same certifications as japanese swordsmiths. And I would imagine the authentic kind would actually pose more of a threat since they don't break or dull as easily. the UK seems like its going down the crapper anyways

ShykeLShyanne 10 months ago
This is fan an example of government gone awry. In the countries where arms control is implemented the government is tyrannical and oppresses its people. Ironically where legal arms ownership is restricted thriving illegal arms trade thrives. Ultimately the citizen is left to the mercy of government troops and the local thugs. For examples of this see Mexico, Japan, the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, and China.

*headkeyboard x3*
Let people protect themselves with knives and guns on the condition that they are trained, licensed, and under penalty and permanent disarmament for life if they misbehave, just like with CCW's in my state.
If criminal are at risk of injury or death at the hands of their victims, they will be discouraged and crime will drop on the whole.
