Virtua fighter is so boring!! DoA, Tekken, Street Fighter, soul calibur, and MK any other fighting games i may have missed are unique and have their own thing while Vf is just bland.
The problem is that all 3D fighting games are copies of Virtua Fighter, cause it's the first of it's kind. Especially Tekken always rips off everything that VF does. It's hard to be unique when eveyone is copying you. Anyway what sets VF apart from other fighters is the realistic approach on fighting. It's almost a simulation. Also it's a lot more strategic than most fighting games. It's also the most balanced fighter with the deepest gameplay. Just read some reviews and you'll get the picture.
Also the new characters in VF4:Evo were solid and they didn't replace anyone. I wish Tekken was like more like that. I would like to see Shenmue characters make a cameo in VF sequels though. I mean it would kind of fit since in the shenmue games you mainly fight in a similar way. I also want to see a sequel to Sega's other fighter "Fighting Vipers 2".
the lost AM2 fighter that really needs a post 32-bit sequel is Last Bronx. the game had so much more potential, but it needed to move faster and have more moves. you spent 1/3 of your time on the ground in that game >_>
All fighting games have their strong points. Tekken was made to be more of a story oriented game. Virtua Fighter doesn't concentrate on story, just mainly graphics and gameplay. It's good though because that way they don't have to replace characters to refresh the story. (like Juli and Michelle, Asuka and Jun, etc). There is no such thing as a fighting game that doesn't require talent. Go on T5DR online and challenge anyone that's at top ranks for proof. Virtua Fighter and Tekken are both good.
Tekken has better graphics, more realistic styles, faster response, better control layout, and just about every other upgrade over this game you could want. The graphics on tekken 5 and the upcomming 6 show vast improvements, and with more fighters alltogether, this game is ultimately inferior. try pulling off ten hit combos in this game without training for one month to get the brain surgery perfect timing down. This and doa, and bloody roar all suffer from bad/sluggish gameplay for me

What stages do you refer to and in what VF/Tekken? I believe that VF was just a basis to improve upon and thats exactly what Namco did with Tekken. I own both of these titles, and in no way did VF four suffer from stage pirating by Tekken five!!!! Besides, unlike VF, the idea behind the ranking in arcade mode for Tekken 5 is so that you can upload your custom character onto your local arcades' Tekken 5 machine and it will fight pretty much as well as you do. No, fighting games are boring. The idea for a 1-1 fight started on the 16-bit consoles if i remember right(i dont think there were any on NES), and the basics behind them really havent changed much. For next-gen consoles, there isnt enough substance in these types of games to keep me entertained. I dont have to justify anything, its my opinion.

The game does lack that "power" in their attacks that Tekken has, but Virtua Fighter is FAR more technical than Tekken. I do admit that it is hard to focus on technique than style, though.
the combos in Tekken are mostly air combo juggles and that shit look weak and fake as hell. sure some of the tekken moves looks like it got power but not all of them are. The air juggle in tekken to look cheesey as hell and when people hit on the ground it looks funny and cheap. Tekken became slow pace after Tekken 3, man you can't even walk anymore cuz its so damn slow now.
You would have thought that the makers/designers of VF5 would have downgraded Lau's unfair life depletion combos. Any idea if there will eventually be an online version of VF5 for the PS3? So far, I've been undecided whether to get an 360 or PS3. The fact that the 360 version has online play might just decide it for me.
Virtua Fighter is defiantly a deeper, smarter, fighter game. Defiantly the best of any fighter game out there. Too bad it never caught on here in the U.S, due to the fact that people have short attention spans and like flash over class.
I may be one of those Americans, but that is true. Look at how Mortal Kombat seem to make the gameplay cheap. For realistic fighting styles, some of the moves are far from real (one of Sonya's spin kicks spins too fast and Goju Ryu Karate looks like an animal style).

You're right those games are more realistic. Those are great games for people who are interested in boxing or ufc. But VF,DOA and Tekken are tournaments of all fighting styles. VF is the most realistic out of them.There's no lightning bolts in VF and Kage is the only character that does insane jumps in VF5. (That's because he's a ninja)

I don't consider Tekken, DOA, Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter to be the same genre as Virtua Fighter, cause they aren't even trying to capture the feeling of real fighting. Street Fighter has fire balls, Tekken has laser eyes and in DOA you can ride down stairs with your opponent, and so on. That's the kind off stuff I want when I'm in a mood for party games. But when I want to play a figting game, VF is the best choice.

look...this game seems to use less than the half of PS3 hardware.
Some movements are still "hard" and unlinked as you can clearly see in this video.
Don't know if is the bad motion capture or maybe the action link coding; but at least graphically it looks pretty obsolete.

Unmathed? No Tekken game has got better scores than VF4 Evolution. The only reason why VF5 hasn't got top scores everywhere is because of the pressure from Sony. Sega had to make a pretty rushed port out of it. But when VF5 hits Xbox360 with online play, better opponent AI and more extensive training mode, it'll get better scores than Tekken 6 will. All VF5 reviews, agree that the gameplay of VF5 is the deepest and most balanced of all fighting games ever

It'd be ridiculous to compare Tekken 3 to VF3 cause they're not the same generation games(Tekken 3 is from the 32-bit generation and VF3 is from the 128-bit generation). The scoring system is completely different each generation. Besides, the VF3 port for Dreamcast isn't even done by Sega. In my opinion Gamespot sucks, so that's a matter of taste too.

The game does lack that "power" in their attacks that Tekken has, but Virtua Fighter is FAR more technical than Tekken. I do admit that it is hard to focus on technique than style, though.

the combos in Tekken are mostly air combo juggles and that shit look weak and fake as hell. sure some of the tekken moves looks like it got power but not all of them are. The air juggle in tekken to look cheesey as hell and when people hit on the ground it looks funny and cheap. Tekken became slow pace after Tekken 3, man you can't even walk anymore cuz its so damn slow now.

So far, I've been undecided whether to get an 360 or PS3. The fact that the 360 version has online play might just decide it for me.

I may be one of those Americans, but that is true. Look at how Mortal Kombat seem to make the gameplay cheap. For realistic fighting styles, some of the moves are far from real (one of Sonya's spin kicks spins too fast and Goju Ryu Karate looks like an animal style).
