Not a thing wrong with using safety devices to climb--no need to be a dead super jock badboy. You look all funny after you fall a couple hundred feet and land on your head.
Depends on what type of safety equipment you are using. If I had a rope safety I'd rather climb on the outside of a tower vs. those pain in the ass cable safeties running down the ladder that you have to unhook and re-hook every 8-10 feet.
True though, after 500+ feet I'd be having my powerade and a smoke. No coke
Haha bunch of OSHA dudes in here, tied off, two safeties, blah blah blah. I never free climbed, but my boss did when he started out. I'd rather have one safety than free climb... ;)
@happydump IT would be a lot easier if I could free climb then attach my y lanyard and positioning lanyard instead of having to be 100 percent at all times.....I guess i got into the industry to late at a time when safety is first......gay .
@yourshitjusthitmyfan Not like safety is important or anything. Though if you think it is dumb it would only make sense your kind falls victim to evolution.
Definition of Gay: cheery: bright and pleasant; promoting a feeling of cheer; "a cheery hello"; "a gay sunny room"; "a sunny smile".
Your negative vibe towards safety is confusing when you end such a thought with the word gay. Stop contradicting yourself and start making sense you fool. Why do the idiots always think they are so right? Next time you are making a point you should try to be correct. It always helps.
@gusterk you are the definition of gay , you faggot . . .and no im not calling you a bundle of sticks . . I dont think im right , i think youve got a stick up your asshole.
I would have to agree they are not 100% tied off. I see their tie off point but I do not see a secondary tie off. And secondly why would they climb up the face when there is a ladder?
they are tied, using monkey hooks, I'm a military climber, and it appears to me they also had a rail each, which in my opinion is far easier to use than the old arm burning monkey hooks, but then again, I learned as a free climber before all the safety measures were put in place.
You are right about the towers being different.I talked to the guy who played "The Rookie" in the commercial and he said that they built a replica of the tower top on the ground and filmed parts of the Ad on a green screen. He was up on the tower at a thousand feet for a couple of hours climbing around.Gotta hand it to the guy,his name is John Forston, for getting out on the steel like that.Awesome commercial!
look at the top of the one they show in the middle and at the end , it has a broadcaster on top and the one they are climbing has nothing. he is right. good commercail ..

I guess it would've been too easy for them to just climb the ladder on the inside?
pegbars 3 years ago
