  • A juno 106 that also functions as a midi keyboard? thats crazy

  • Yikes his channels are clipping like crazy.

  • massive bags round his eyes, looks like he's been smoking. or really hungover or something.

  • @youtoobsignupsucks prolly just from staring at the computer for so long making tunes.

  • Bad ass mix dude! Very good stuff!

  • in studio with W&W or Wezz Devall would be awesome

  • lemonade!

  • Максим Доши

  • where the fook does he get those unreal bass sounds?? like a rolling trance bass line...anyone??

  • @5:30 omg that vox sample sounds tremendous, is this track finished/released yet ?!

  • for some reason I keep imagining how his music would sound with added noisia bass sounds. Noisia & Alex Metrik should do a collab

  • who know midi of bass ?

  • Great video Alex Metric. Definitely one of the best from 'In the studio' series. Not every producer is able to tell some interesting things about music production but you actually DO :)

  • Hi, I'm Alex Metric and I'm really stoned.

  • @futureblade7 great insight though, thumbs up to futuremusic, great mag

  • Thanks so much for posting these! :)

  • GET SOMEONE WHO USES FL STUDIO!! THAT WOULD BE DOPE!

  • @utubehelps Do yourself a favor and learn Logic.

  • Good, decide on the arrangement early on is probably a good idea, not work on things one end up not using cause it's not necessary. Using loops and patterns like sound presets is also clever.

  • Long Live Ableton LIVE! :)

  • Very Nice!!! :D

  • What about copyright? What about the samples???

  • @soacker25 I think you can use up to 4 bars of a song without infringement? Then looping this same 4 bars would be possible.

  • what is the mr fingers song called that he got the sample from at at 2:15

  • This track makes me think of being in a San Franscico disco in the early 80's surrounded by a bunch of hard men with thick handlebar mustaches in tight leather chaps and vests.

  • Does he have to pay for these tiny samples?

  • Well Our record label is all about future music, no we are not big but we all have potential and a new "revolution" coming next year!

  • Love Videos like this :D

  • do feed me or someone who use FL . tjeres so few FL features in the magazine.

  • what monitors is it? KRK VXT or rokit

  • @stoprus

those are KRK VXT , you should also look into those studio monitors:

    dynaudio bm5amk2,focal cms50,event 20/20 bas

    adam audio ax7,Sonodyne SM100Ak ,Equator audio D5.

  • wow.. really enjoyed this interview THANK YOU for the most original, inspirational and informative interview yet. And thank you Alex Metric for showing us this stuff... awesome idea with itunes and complete randomness. Alex i havent heard of you before but I will definitely start looking out for your stuff.. Just awesome, thanks again!

  • great vid, really interesting, btw I have a question, why are all your channels are clipping?

  • This was really interesting. He was refreshingly open and honest and gave great insight. Normally a lot of producers are quite guarded when it comes to the nuts and bolts but he was keen to divulge as much as possible. Great vid.

  • what disco song is this he's sampling?

  • Interview Daft Punk.. I will have tears of joy

  • logic

  • that is cubase??

  • Today it`s all about bigroomcomplextrodubstepavicii :-)

  • Why the hell does he have all those sytnhs?

  • awsome!

  • Whats the sample material?

  • Awesome vid! Would love to seevthe chromeo one :)

  • Great Tutorial, nice to see how Ableton and logic works together, but i think he bounced all the audio out from Ableton....., to process these things later in logic !

  • @PhinkBeat i think he's using ableton as rewire plugin where he resamples songs. pretty nice indeed.

  • No videos of someone using fl studio?? oO

  • @H3llHoundd Yes there is! In the Studio with Avicii.. Enjoy

  • @H3llHoundd

Avicii: In The Studio With Future Music Magazine issue 245

    using FL studio.

  • @Eumusic1 Thx man

  • How about an interview with Phunk Investigation or Spartaque :D

  • Oke, soo... Why does he have those toys?!

  • @GTRShady97 They're external effects processors

  • whats the track hes sampling at 5-10 min?

  • thanks for upping a long version this time!

  • Thanks for the upload I got this DVD but the drive in my laptop is broken lol.

  • omg Nice!

  • thanks!

  • inspirative!

  • i love u future music!!!! :)

  • awesome, love these vids. You should try and get a hold of Skrillex sometime, some people might be against me on that but his production is amazing! big up Futuremusic! :)

  • @deptofsfelt Why not Skrillex, wanna see this EMO Guy playing with Ableton ! Respect Skrillex :-)

  • @PhinkBeat Skrillix is for teenagers to play in their ipod on the way to hot topic.

  • @deptofsfelt yes!!! i don't know how the fuck he works, would be really interesting

  • @deptofsfelt its massive is his production

  • @shonuffLA what ya mean?

  • @deptofsfelt there is a vst by ni called massive and i can promise you if you looked at a skrillex session it would be on at least ten channels, prob more, skrillex sound = massive

  • @shonuffLA aw right yeah sorry I get ya now, yeah man I use massive all the time myself. But Skrillex said in an interview to get his signature growls he uses FM8, I got FM8 as well to try it out but haven't got my head around it yet. So really Skrillex=FM8

  • @deptofsfelt just do a u2b search for fm8, there r a ton of tutorials that might help u out

  • @deptofsfelt You are right - a lot of Dubstep uses FM Synthesis. The best youtube channel to check out is nextstepaudio which is run by Brian Trifon. Do a search on here for Trifonic: FM Synthesis 101

  • @172Break seen and favorite em all man i think i'm just lazy and I can go straight to massive and make what I want in 2 seconds but I really want to get into FM8 I know for a fact that its a beast VST so i'm goin to try and get into it more. Goin to see if I can do my next tune all in FM8 and try and not use massive at all...

  • @deptofsfelt I like to layer FM8 with Massive. Massive is subtractive in design so you get amazing bass. FM synthesis creates extra harmonics when you increase the volume of the modulator. Put the two together and you get the piercing highs and amazing lows! If you use Ableton, Operator is a great place to start for getting into FM synthesis. FM8 has too many options when starting out in FM.

I checked out out your channel - nice bass playing.

  • @172Break I never actually thought of layering massive with FM8, I must try that. I'm running logic at the moment man, so i have plenty to work with and i shouldn't really have a problem gettin things to fit together. haha thanks man, goin to be puttin more up soon! focusing on producing so much I haven't had time to do any covers.

  • @deptofsfelt he mixes his songs with headphones

  • @MusicDAnthony thats the craziest thing cause everyone cause on about monitors and stuff. i'd love to see how he does things without all that!
