  • whoa, amazing

  • Great video. Most of his early live videos are dubbed over with the studio album, so it's nice to see a true live performance from Elton.

  • 29 people don't know what the yellow brick road is

  • Thumbs Up If Elton Has The Most Versatile Voice.

  • Elton acts like a bitter old lady now but back in the 70s he knew what the hell he was doing.

  • @Philtration he sure did know then, hes a hell of a piano player too...genius player

  • How is it he has more hair now than back then? ha Great performance!

  • Sensacional essa performance . Simples assim. Adoro essa musica .

  • Saw live live last night. incredible.

  • Elton looks like he's losing his hair in 76. Does he wear a wig now?

  • The rappers can't kill the memories! Of music in the seventies!

  • @plaidcarogemm They aint trying to.

  • 28 pessoas não conhecem música

  • I love the vocals. who wants an electronic box doing music all the time? He Is pure talent ad writing AND being able to take lyrics from a completely seperate person and make them his own . Bernie IS part of the team. History is written. Damn I wish I wasnt this old! Music is not dead though. Just takin a breather.

  • likin this one!

  • I was in Philly, July 6th 1976 to see this tour. What a rush to hear Philadelphia Freedom in Philly 2 days after the 4th of July! It was the first concert I was allowed to go see by myself, and I rode the bus, the 'El ' & the subway from Northeast Philly all the way down to the Spectrum. Quite a journey down the Yellow Brick Road to see the Wizard!

  • @oZo61 hehe nice one :)

  • elton must've done like a kilo of coke before this show lol

  • Elton's greta, but I think by the sound of his clogged nose he's been into the nose powder before the gig.... vocals not up to par with nose clog. All heresay on my part, just guessing.

    DP

  • can't believe someone can dislike this wonder of the 70's

  • Some take the piss out his sexuality but get a life and appreciate real talent when see it!! Can't beat his song writing!! Love this song!!

  • Timeless, majestic melody played at the height of Elton's career. What more could you ask for?

  • While I didn't hit the dislike myself, I can see where some might have because the audio is choppy enough that it makes a mockery of Elton's talent.

  • I was there, it was FANTASTIC!! Elton you are the BEST!

  • OMG...original ELTON!

  • 24 people should be take the black, murky and muddy road!

  • He's so fuckin good

  • I grew up to not only this song, but the whole album! It's a part of me and i love it!!!!!

  • @majewda a deep and complex album,, rock, blues, even country music ,,,great stuff and of course the epic Love Lies Bleeding..

  • old? as in 3 years prior to this gig!

  • Elton at his best

  • A classic tune was never the biggest fan but he did make some bril tracks .

  • classssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • What does Elton John on his wedding day and George Bush on 9/11 have in common?

They both spent the night in the bowels of Camp David!

  • @pickmolly What on earth is wrong with you? Do you think it is funny to make fun of somebody for no other reason than because they are a little different than you?

  • @slinkyboysix Shutup you gimp

  • @pommie1967 Very mature. Care to expand on that? What makes you think I'm a gimp? (Notice how I used only monosyllabic words for you.)

  • 24 people are too young to be

    singing the blues

  • I'm sure that nowadays it's more likely for him to Swallow the Yellow Thick Load!

  • @pickmolly you really expected more of a response from that one, eh?

  • love this song ,but like the way he says an ' old song ' i think it had only been out a couple of years lol

  • ADIÓS CAMINO DE LADRILLOS AMARILLOS /// ELTON JOHN *****

BUENAZA LA CANCIÓN DE ESTE BUÉN CANTANTE BRITÁNICO - EN VIVO 1,976

  • A great artist and gentleman. Happiness and luck to Elton and David.

  • I miss Elton's old voice. I've been a fan of his since the beginning.

  • 24 dislikes too many in my arrogant opinion

    like this song

gr8 song yet aagain in my arrogant opinionn,

  • Elton John's finest hour = Goodbye Yellow Brick Road... this song is an absolute masterpiece.

  • carlonjohn canta bien este tema ados gobiernos titeres de los estados unidos

  • Elton is so.. stylish.

  • I never understood why people disliked videos, like why would you look up videos just to dislike them especially like this epic masterpiece of a song.

  • COKE

  • never paid attention so much to the lyrics before. wow - absolutely brilliant.

  • who cares what his hair looks like? his music is great. and i think he looks amazing either way xP

  • JUST SO AMAZING,............

  • this is a song composed for me.

17 years, leaving home to a city far away from here to study, I'm gonna try to be a journalist, a hard carreer. my parents are afraid about it.

  • hahahahah OBVIOUS COKE

Nevertheless... it would be REMISs of me to not mention I'm going to rape elton john

  • it appears he did a ton of coke before this show

  • Comment removed

  • I wish he still sang that way...Id def pay good money to see a concert of his if he still did

  • Thank you CCN I grew up listening to this and was amazed. After hearing Libreace, and Van Clibern...piano anyone???? This man owns the piano and has the the musical ablillity to turn it to rock or soul or reggea.. just an incredible musician!! LONG LIVE ELTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CannabisClubNetwork I think you may have mis-read my response, haha. As a music lover who came after Elton's prime-time, I fully appreciate, respect, and love his music.

  • @BirminghamRocks I was born in the 80s, and have grown up loving Elton's music...one of my good friends (a child of the late 80s) and I saw him live and were, by far, not the only 80s kids at the show. Just because some of the younger people now have horrible, shallow taste in music doesn't mean the rest of us can't appreciate true talent.

The first CD I ever owned was Elton John. I played piano growing up because I loved Elton. This is one of my fav songs ever, actually.

  • SIR ELTON IS THE MAN!!!!!!!!!

  • @thklinge omg. whats the agreesion dude, perhaps whist sitting in your undies on your computer you like to show an aggression which is held inside -perhaps unable to muster such confidence in a non virtual setup. consider wathcing that.

elton john is old. his music is dated not classic. sure he is talented - im not denying that. matt is more comtemporanious then his.. Anyone born after the 80's would probably not listen to elton without being forced. cheryl wont win as she is too chavvy

  • @BirminghamRocks "elton john is old. his music is dated not classic... Anyone born after the 80's would probably not listen to elton without being forced."

You, sir or m'dam, are an absolute idiot. It's not my thing to make these types of comments but really? I was born in '89 and absolutely love and appreciate his music, including the live performances.

Learn to appreciate good music and realize how amazing youtube is for allowing us to see these older live performances.

  • Any X Factor fans new to this should check out the great album by the same name

  • OMG!! He has So many classic songs! Really, I can't even believe he came to the Sault!!!

  • Elton is unique and so is Matt that's why both of their versions are just as good in their ways!

  • 1976 + "Lets play an old one" LOL! Great stuff!

  • matt cardles version better

  • @BirminghamRocks

What the fuck is wrong with you? I had to google that name only to find some nobody in UK X-Factor. His performance was crap and that kid will never even reach Sir Elton Johns toes.

Sidenote: That Lloyd chick in X-Factor wasn't that bad.

  • He really should be worshipped.

  • Alot of the studio versions of his songs have been removed from YT...copyright bs strikes again,

  • Elton has a great new album, The Union, with Leon Russell (Neil Young sings on Gone to Shiloh)

  • This was the song writter threatning to leave Elton with the lyrics of the song .Whan are you (elton ) going to come down to reality . Read about all the songs and stories behind them on songfactsdotcom

  • @flyingscience That's a little far. I've always read that Bernie was just wanting to go back to a simple life, where as Elton was enjoying the glam of lime light. There could be another account, but I always understood it as Taupin just wanting to leave the established path of the "Yellow Brick Road".

  • Elton John fans only! Follow EltonJohnLyrics on Twitter :)

  • Elton John is a great artist and really knows how to compose a song <3

  • Together with Led Zeppelin they ruled the 70s.

  • 24 people dont understand what music is,bieber isnt music

  • @Drv2013 exactly my friend!

  • @Drv2013 Why even mention that little teenage girls name in a video dealing with a legend like elton john. -.- you should be ashamed.

  • My Aunt used to go out with Bernie taupin "the songs writer" in the little North lincolnshire Village of Owmsby-By Spital in the early 60's...Should of stayed home on the farm"...Well that farm was just down the road from me Gran and Grandads house where I used to play when I was a kid...Elton was there on many ocasions in the late 60's..before anyone knew him where my other aunts met him on a night down at the local with Bernie. My Dad..Gran & Grandad are burried behined the Farm on a plot.

  • @revamp2100 this is what you tube is all about

  • @revamp2100 That's insane.

  • @revamp2100 thx for sharing.. interesting

  • i would say this is a timeless song.

  • I always thought this was his best song.

  • @gammastation i always say i like one of his songs then change for a few weeks. hes got some goodies. i like the way he can jam a piano.

  • @sneak108 I always thought he is the best at the piano.

  • great song , I love this ,it made me happy and inspiring , I would like to return to play this song by guitar

  • fantastico querido elton por regalarnos una cancion asi bravisimo

  • what id give to go back in time to watch a performance of his in the 70s

  • My favorite song of all time. Was/is there a more perfect lyric writer/composer- singer pair than Bernie Taupin and Elton John? I think not.

I just wonder why he substituted "... like me to be found" for "like me AROUND." Still, a great performance.

  • The first concert I ever saw was Elton on Wed night July 15th, 1976 at the Charlotte coliseum, sometime shortly after this show. I still have a unused ticket that I will sell for $75

  • I've known about this concert, but didn't know there were video footage from it. Thank you!!

  • Awesome Rock n Roll voice.

  • @potatoelover95 Why, because we can appreciate something beautiful and all you apparently can see is ugliness? I cannot even feel sorry for you.

  • @potatoelover95 - p.s.: You cretin, calling other people 'tards is so ironic, in that you cannot even spell potato correctly. I rest my case.

  • no la está cantando con Billy Joel

  • he talks like robbi williams.....his voice if he is speaking..

  • Again...brilliant and beyond any matters of looks or otherwise. It is that simple.

  • thx man!!

  • Do you understand what I mean when I say this is a painfully good song?

I mean a beautiful song..... but the lyrics filled with so much pain......

    Really great

  • Geez, he is so awesome. Love this song.

  • Awesome ! (or is it cos I'm stoned?)

  • @chewdbubbly awesome regardless that we're stoned =D

  • Do you have MORE of this rare concert?? Please post!!!!!! This is the only Elton Show I thin kI dont have on video

  • if the ahhhhhhhhhhhh bit in this song wasn't there i doubt this song would be such a classic. it's my favorite bit

  • Elton John, es great and the great ones make the mediocres to feel insulted..

    I understand their frustration.

Elton is a lot better than all of them

Thanks God for giving the world such a wonderful artist!

  • @angelicadeperu I don't know where you live, but you are absolutely right; this is a classic. A Great Artist and A Great Musician. Thanks for your comment. Angelica, Gracias Por Tu Comentario, Jorge Dubon

  • @angelicadeperu I forgot the most important thing about your message. Our Father GOD!!! He makes all possible.

  • I love it. "Old songs" in 1976 that were, what, three years old? This song was released 6 weeks after I was born. *NOW* it's an old-ass song.

  • sad that he can hit roughly 10% of these notes today...

  • Go to 70s-tv and click on STAR COMPILATIONS to buy this..

  • I looove when they go ahaaaaa ahahahah ahahha great

  • He once said.."if I only had one finger , I'd use it to play you a song" >We are blessed to have such talent in the world, an such selflessness. Thank you Elton.

  • @704billy1975 Unfortunately if Joe Blogs had only one finger he would use it to draw disability and scratch his arse.

  • @John27346 lets just hope its not the middle one ...

  • goodbye yelllow brick road, losing his voice

  • So little hair then - so much hair now.

  • @ArgusSlayer although it's not all real hair lol

  • @ArgusSlayer wow! didn't notice...

  • @ArgusSlayer Elton when asked if his hair was real resonded yes and I have the reciept to prove it !

  • @ArgusSlayer his hair fell out from worrying what people like you think about him

  • @ArgusSlayer rogane, hans whimann or he took some of his chest hair and transplanted it to his head dude's got bank he can do it

  • Amazing... Falsetto or not, Get to see him in May, can't wait...

  • @mysticme27 Where?

Do you know if hes going to Argentina? :)

  • just like GEORGE MICHAEL!!!!....SING LIKE THIS LIVE ,AND YOU BREAK AMERICA!!!!!.....SIMPLE!!!!!..X

  • They just don't make them like they used to . Unbelievable!

  • That`S my favorite song! =)

  • bald, gay, whatever. more than a great composer and piano player, he's a truly great vocalist. i mean this is an epic song, one of those almost impossible to perform decently live but he does it amazingly well. even though it's a shame he lost his beautiful timbre and falsetto a long time ago (around early 80s maybe).

  • he had throat surgery in 1986 and lost his falsetto afterwards. such a shame.

  • @MrCapitalfinal pot smoking caused nodules on his vocal cords. surgery cost him his classic voice.

  • la musica de elton una sinfonia para los oidos

  • what a great artist and a singer, live shows is the Real test!

  • elton is all tooted up

  • "fairly old"?? Wasn't he like 34? I thought old was like 80

  • @Deutsche22

I think Elton turned 29 in 1976. Not his fault he is just one of those guys who tends toward balding. I'd be happy to be 40 again! Peace.

  • Such a Great album too....This was not even the best song...How about Grey Seal" ??????

  • yeah have to join in on the tribute choir, that key change going to the bridge/refrain is just brilliant. after playing guitar for forever i finally took up piano, and evertime i play that transition it brings chills to my spine!

  • This song has the best verse to chorus transition in modern music.

  • no joke man, where the fuck does that Bbm7 even come from, it's so cool

  • The dogs of society are on the yellow brick road...apparently the people who are unable to accept the reality are stuck, "howling," in their fantasy world. Yet, ironically, the speaker (singer) character also seems to idealize his "future life" off the yellow brick road, suggesting he will repeat his mistakes, as humans often do :). Then there is another speaker, skeptical of the first character's intentions - "It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics, to set you on your feet again."

  • so, I think it's both a friendly mocking of people - we all know them - who leave one situation (romantic or otherwise) and gallop into another with the same mindset. It's also kind of an acceptance of the fact that we ALL do this. The lines "I guess you'll get your replacement , there's plenty like me to be found / mongrels who don't have a penny, looking for scraps on the ground" further supports the interp that it's a bitter parting conversation between two people and one is quite snooty

  • Pretty sure it's just a song about dumping a trashy girl whom he thought was going to be the love of his life. It's just 70's taupin/john song, not Dante's divine comedy.

  • I read somewhere it was about the music industry and being used by record labels.

  • Goodbye yellow brick road is about leaving your old life behind. It's about outgrowing your parents and taking reality to the leading edge. The wizard of oz was said by some to be symbolic of America going off the gold standard. Though the author denied any meaning in it. Also the emerald city was supposed to represent the greenback. The wizard was said to be the president who turned out to be a little man behind a screen who was creating an illusion aka Goldman sachs.

  • @julianmck outgrowing your parents? The line, I should have listened to my old man refutes that theory. Granted, meaning is individual, but there is evidence to refute at least that statement.

Also, L. Frank Baum was not a social writer. it was a children's book.

  • I simply love this song, it´s fantastic! But I find it hard to really fundamentally understand what it is about...what is its message?

  • @tenoralkid It's a great song about break-up and going back to your roots and starting over. How it was then, and how it's going to be.

  • tenoralkid, it was written by a poet, as were many of Elton's songs from this period. That means in part that it can be interpreted a number of different ways. My own interpretation is that it has a lot to do with the acceptance of the reality of life (when are you gonna come down, when are you going to learn - plus the references to a fantasy world, plus "you know you can't hold me forever") over idealized relationships, and all the melancholy aspects that come with it.

  • @conwict7 the songs from this period were written by the same man as today's songs. Same "poet". Just aged.

  • I could listen to this for hours. What a beautiful song, what a fantastic performance. I simply love his high key voice back then. That falsetto is from another world.

Pity the poor bigots that don't pay attention to this wonderful music just because they can't ''quit their redneck ways''.
