  • they look like turkeys

  • Soooo Amazing!! Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you...this is amazing footage. Although, I worry about these beautiful birds - they get so close to people and the highway. One of these days I need to make me way up there and hopefully I can catch a glimpse.

  • That was cool Thanks

  • Wow this is for me so amazing to see I love birds and it's so sad to hear they almost was gone... It's with a big smile on my face I see this :D thanks my dear friend for doing & post this :-)

  • Ah, to send smiles all the way to Sweden! The internet is great... Thank you, Kenta, for flying by to watch these grand birds.

  • Honestly - that was so enjoyable to watch! Great editing, great camera work, and the music really fits! Thanks for posting this - I am nowhere near California but I love the condors.

  • I was quite inspired to write the music for this as soon as I got home from that trip, glad you enjoyed it! It was also my hope to share this for others who might love this rare gathering as much as we did, so you just made my day! Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Wow. And to think, I thought I was lucky to see 3 of them hanging out on that big rock right alongside the road (probably not too far from your spot in this video) back in early May of 2007. The sight of these magnificent creatures Up Close And Personal is something I'll never forget. You are so blessed to have gotten a good 10 minutes plus with half the known population!!!

  • Woohoo, it's great to know you got to see some too... this was one of those perfect moments, I happened to have noticed them, pulled off, and had my video camera with me, and could spend 2 hours recording footage. They are amazing in flight. Thanks for finding and enjoying my experience too!

  • Many thanks for posting this lovely piece! We went to this same spot and sadly, no condors. We went as far south as Lucia and didn't see any. This day was a real blessing from God to all who witnessed it! Thanks again!!

  • I'd be sad if this were a once in a lifetime experience, but I'm so happy to have caught it on tape to share (looks much better on my DVD-quality burn!) Hope this gets more people interested in these and other birds. Thank you for watching and commenting, makes my day!

  • Very enjoyable Eduard and Jeri, educational and artistic. Thanx for sharing this.

    Ian

  • Glad you stopped in to watch, Ian. This was an exciting experience, and makes me want to take my video camera on ALL our vacations now, just in case we see more wildlife.

    ttfn,

    Eduard

  • Simply amazing footage!

    *@@*

Thanks so much for posting the video of these magnificent condors..

Though i don`t understand why the birds let people get so close. Did the ranger or anyone at Big Sur explain why or how the condors are so friendly.

The biggest fear is that you get one lunatic with a gun coming along, & then the entire population in the area could be wiped out. If there are only 30 condors in Nothern California, then it seems you saw half of them right there by the roadside!

  • Thank you for stopping in and seeing this exciting event! No, the Ventana wildlife volunteer who came to count the birds and talk to the people about them didn't explain why the careful "hand-puppet" raising didn't stop them from bonding to people. Part of me is worried about a lunatic doing just that, but a bigger part of me is hoping that if people see these gorgeous birds, they'll respect them... optimist (lunatic) that I am. :-)

  • Eduard--incredible! I can't believe they let people that close. What terrific footage you captured--and what a neat little pan pipe piece you composed to accompany it.:) I worry about the birds being so acclimated to people. I find it's best to have a healthy mistrust of people.:D Thanks for letting me know about this.

  • I completely agree that all animals (including people) need a healthy respect and mistrust of people, and this worries me too. Luckily everyone at that turnout was behaving really well, not doing anything to scare the birds, or get too close, or feed them anything, and there was no trash there. But still, I worry too. Glad you enjoyed it all!

  • Eduard, such a great video here.

I'm so glad that i had the chance to watch all of these beautiful sights in this video.

And for sure i can't forget to mention the great soundtrack for that video "Andes OFF!" .. Loved all about this video and here's my 5 stars friend.

    Take Care

    - Yeman

  • Yeman, I greatly appreciate you stopping by (half-way around the world) to see this. The music was fun to write too. Stay tuned for more videos and CGI movies from me! And I look forward to more of your great music too, when you get a chance... you are a very talented composer/guitarist yourself!

    ttfn,

    Eduard

  • Wow, those are big birds. Nice musical backing, and great bird shots, Drako! Excellent setting too, beautiful stretch of coast.

  • We humans aren't the only ones drawn to the beauty of that coastline. It is great to see the condors reclaiming a little bit of their old territory... though the owners of that house may have to put out a ginormous bird feeder :-)

  • They still remind me of us macjammers waiting on the side of the road wondering what the 16th is :)

How can not love these wonderful birds. Loved the sceney and the flying in the air. Sounds like it is a very rare thing that they even there. And rare things like that is terrific to catch on camera, part of our nature history.

The music fits very well I think. Nicely done, the video of course too!

    Way to go!
