There are some interesting views in this video, I admit this has totally put me off meat, not because i think it's the most inhumane way of doing it, not at all... mostly because i've been in denial about the fact that an animal has to suffer to feed me, and that makes me feel sick, however... some of the idiots in here spouting nonsense are giving vegetarians a bad name... shame on you.... it's a choice to eat meat or not to eat meat... but people are idiots either side of the wall....
@gazzercousins good on you! stand up for what you believe in!
I will still eat meat and that will never change. I think if we really saw some of the other ways animals are culled would shock us even more so than this video.
it's - as these things go - pretty humane. Ramsay violated no legal broadcasting standards in the UK where the show was originated. Personally, the point is; when you eat at McDonald's you don't how the cattle were killed - possibly, badly, possibly not.
I think it's also good, personally (and very British) that Ramsay's children are made to understand that the burger on your plate was once an animal that must die. If they find it too terrible, they can become vegetarians.
What a lot of vegetarians/vegans don't realise, is the amount of animals needlessly slaughtered for the growing of their vegetables; from farming with machinery, pesticides/chemicals, and destruction of their natural habitat. I'd rather eat what is killed -- at least it died for a purpose, than being a tragic byproduct of food production.
I would like to make something very clear, if you think this is wrong then that's fine but don't try & make meat eaters look bad because of it, you made your choices & we made ours, don't try & force you lifestyle onto us and don't you dare try to blame us for what we put in our mouths, if we say that eating meat is ok, who are you to tell us other-wise, I'm sick of vegatarian leaving stupid comments on video involving killing animals, you are only making yourself look bad
the first time i saw a pig being slaughtered was when i was 10 while my nephew saw it when they were like 6. i don't see no reason why not to show kids. its part of making food.
you friggin vegetarian tools need to realize that meat is absolutely nutritious and tasty. the way these guys are killing the animals, are in a very human matter; quick and painless rather than slow and torturing the animals, bad things happen everywhere all over the world, it is inevitable. so stop acting like you're a better person just cause you eat meat, you probably done a lot of bad things behind your parents back, i guess that contradicts your statement. men have hunted animals for years.
any person that eats meat is a fucking gross inhuman piece of shit. Im flagging this video and I hope it gets taken down, this is just horrible....killing innocent animals for what? for views? fuck u gordon ramsay u sick piece of shit. your the scum of the earth, you people have no hearts no soul to treat animals this way, I would fucking skin and shock u all to death, how would u like that? fucking idiots STOP EATING MEAT!!!
@patophelia those nice innocent vegetable is enjoying their days until u cut them and cook them without even killing them. at least we meat eater knows to kill an animal humanely before we eat it.
@patophelia Think of all the suffering you're putting a piece of broccoli through when you bite into it? You sick bastard. Also, lettuce raw? You filth.
@GonetoSleep21 Oh that isn't even a good argument, that's just pure scepticism because you can't protect the reason not the eat animals. Ever heard of consciousness? Is it ok to rape a child before two-three months because of your own pleasure, because they don't know of their own existence before that, so is it then ok to kill and eat them because they're the same as animals then?
@patophelia Hahahahaha I love meat and it is normal for humans to eat meat. Many other animals eat meat, why dont you go with those animals an tell them to stop eating meat or else you are going to skin all of them.
@Jiimm2010 I would never hurt an animal because animals they have feelings unlike humans, human beings do nothing but kill and are idiots, and animals are pure and kind, I wish I was an animal, maybe a cat or something.....*sigh*
@patophelia You are, by far, the most stupid person in the world. How do you think a lion eats? It is normal, NORMAL, to kill an animal to eat. EVERY meateater animal does it.
@Jiimm2010 your a sick fucker. you belong in prison for eating meats. How dare you glorify the suffering of animals. What I chopped you up into pieces and put you through a grinder. How would you feel being a hamburger huh??? yea so stfu you stupid fuck, I would fucking put a bullet through your head and rape your family if I ever saw you harm an animal you fuck.
@patophelia so, you are going to chop me into peaces and put me in a grinder, you are going to shoot me in the head an rape my famili? And im the sick fucker? WTFF.
@p00nage47 are you trying to be fucking funny or some shit stupid american??? fucks to you ok, fucks be to you mother fuck. You eat meat why?? u think u r toughs??? fucks u
@patophelia I FUCKING LOVE MEAT OH MY GOD, JUICY HAMBURGERS, GREASY BACON, CRISPY CHICKEN LEGS. I COULDN'T GIVE LESS OF A FUCK HOW THEY DIED, AS LONG AS I GET MY MEAT. YUM.
I love meat, and yes i do find this slightly disturbing to watch. it doesnt chang anything though. i mean, we've been eating meat (human kind) since day one. hunting down animals with bows and arrows, dragging it back to the village, than slaughtering it up for cooking.
I think I might of just became a vegetarian: this is truly heartbreaking for me. I love animals more than anything but always kept their slaughter out of my mind while I ate meat. I have a pet parrot and just watching this bird die like that makes me quiver-just thinking about how smart birds are. Call me a pussy, call me self-righteous, but humans are in a position to where we don't need to do this anymore, I am at a loss for words. This really affected me.
Lol.. I agree that what he's doing isn't funny, but what I find funny is that there's a LOT more likes than dislikes when a known person is slaughtering animals with this sad expression on them while on other slaughtering videos, they get so much dislikes because they don't see Gordan or anyone else.. That we can't ever tell if they are taking this funny or not..
Watch as the electricity courses through the birds body at 2:55 how it's eye basically explodes from the 600 volts. It's turns from a live black to a dead gray silver immediately.
The slaughterhouses and farms in this show are the best of the best. Unfortunately 99.9% of meat does not come from this type of place unless you buy locally. The stuff in stores come from factory farms where the animals are treated like objects, kept thousands in a small shed in their own waste and dead bodies before being slowly bled to death. Those facotry farms is why people go vegan, not because they hate meat or just hate meat eaters. They hate the unnessacery cruelty.
Holy shit. The way the eyes just "snapped" on the last turkey made me feel pretty uncomfortable. At least it was quick, painless and just knowing that the turkey was raised well is comfort enough, I guess..
I eat meat, and was in the slughter house acouple of times and i had a pig farm at home....i never liked seeing or helping to kill a pig,chicken,rabbit...etc.
Its horrible, but i can say that i saw how the killing is done.
@visualsherpa, based on a review of your other comments, the only thing indulgent here is your sense of self-righteousness, which you use to justify your eating choices. others might take you seriously if you showed that you have more than a tenuous grasp of what environmental challenges "we" face, and how those relate to the economics of food production, what "tasty" means, how the human diet has adapted and evolved over the past few hundred millenia, and what I said in my comment.
1:30 Annie: "When I first plucked a Turkey I was quite scared..."
I can't imagine putting a child in that situation. It's traumatic for a 6 year old to witness, let alone have to participate in. I wonder how old her father was when he was conditioned.
I retract my comment and apologize to Mr. Ramsey. I was clearly angered by what I saw and took it out on Gordon, who I normally hold in very high regard.
It doesn't change what I see though. Its cruel and they suffer. Just because we can slaughter 45 million turkeys in one week for thanksgiving doesn't mean we should.
@visualsherpa He bought and raised those turkeys knowing he was gonna slaughter them in the end. He chose the quickest way possible because of empathy.
And he's been a chef for years, in culinary school they teach you basic butchery, some might even teach you how to slaughter farm animals. The lack of empathy isn't surprising.
But his lack of empathy doesn't make him a bad person.
@visualsherpa Wow you got it all wrong. BTW trying to justify your deluded thoughts by the way he behaves on HK is just stupid and drawing a conclusion between him and Fox News. Watch him on the F Word and you'll see a good teacher and educator.
If you knew how animals, particularly birds, are routinely brutally mistreated during commercial slaughter regardless, halal would be the least of your concerns.
I am a proud meat eater. This is the circle of life. Wild animals eat other animals all the time, what makes you vegetarians think you're better than anyone else, or that you're saving millions of animals by not eating a chicken leg? Enjoy your broccoli im going to finish this steak ;)
@pelvaanali No, that is certainly false. Halal and other religiously dictated methods ignore and forbid modern technologies and understanding of animal physiology to be used for slaughter, which is why Kosher and Halal methods have been banned in some countries.
@pheonixmj2 In a previous episode they showed the naming process and he did indeed name them after his fellow culinary colleagues! In fact, the turkey, Nigella, was named so because she had the largest chest of all the turkeys!
I wouldn't call it fun. I get no delight from slaughtering the animal, no matter how delicious it is. This video is interesting, and good to know where our food comes from. I find this vital knowledge as a cook because it helps me treat my ingredients with respect and care.
@ballparkjebusite Just because it tastes good, does not mean we (as a population) should do it.
Chefs have a certain responsibility to our society in that they create and promote the food we all grow to love. Considering all the enviornmental challenges we all face it seems indulgent to me that we continue to promote the mass production of meat by creating "tasty" dishes on the backs of sentient beings. We are no longer nomads supplementing our diet with meat during the harsh winter months.

Considering all the enviornmental challenges we all face it seems indulgent to me that we continue to promote the mass production of meat by creating "tasty" dishes on the backs of sentient beings. We are no longer nomads supplementing our diet with meat during the harsh winter months.
