I love this song, i think it really couldve done well in the charts, even maybe have been her 19th number 1, and she always performs this well too, personally one of my favourite off the album :)

Yeah your right, i understand her wanting to release Bye Bye for her fans and herself, that could have been bigger but she wasnt promoting then, she got married instead lol. But why I'll be lovin you long time? I would have released iI'm that chick then Migrate then Side Effects. Oh well...I'm just waiting for her new album.

@fazzee360 all of the critics, the media, LA Reid, the IDJ, all were in-love with I'm That Chick You Like. They even wanted to name the album after this song. Mariah wanted to release Bye Bye and Love Story. They allowed her Bye-Bye and she married the clown. She stopped all promotion and made IDJ lost all they invested in that INCREDIBLE good album. By the time they tried with Loving You, Stay in Love and this, the album had already tanked and she was not promoting it

@fazzee360 Loving You Long Time was also praised by everyone. Critics even said it was gonna be the next "Idol's" song for a couple years. Though they laughed on that title, they said the song was great but MC wasn't supporting the album. She wanted just to be with the clown. She wanted "Love Story" since day one but IDJ got into a fight with JD a bit before so they weren't releasing his songs. MC was really not into this album. Side Effects had no potential. It was just another diss to Tommy

WOW I liked I'll Be Lovin from the 1st time I listened to the album, but I heard she did not like it. I think Last Kiss & 4real4real(sans Brat) had some potential, I don't know what is going on, Memoirs was SO strong, and didn't do that well, Memoirs Remix got shelved, she never released the Palms DVD to my knowledge, I wonder the fate of this Christmas Album...

@alpurod For the Record is a nice track but not for a single. That's one of those songs that people that only buy singles then might find out and say "hey, the song is cute" but if it had been released and even with MC promoting it, it wouldn't have impacted radio well. Side Effects had one major failure on it: It's lyrics, it was once again another FUCKYOU Tommy track so it has already been wasted. I guess the problem was that she stopped promotion when she married that clown. The album was GR8

@baretreemty If anything "Side Effects" has some of the best lyrics on the album. Most "E=MC2" song lyrics were trite & rather mundane. I think "Side Effects" ranks with Mariah's best songs like "The Roof" & "Breakdown." It's easy to see why she, as well as critics, considers those 2 "Butterfly" tracks some of her best pieces of work. Many people are quick to label her ballads "deep" & "meaningful" but in Mariah's case I find most of them anonymous sounding & often an expression of banalities

@Nostalgic8686 I said problem were the lyrics BECAUSE it was a fuckYou Tommy anthem (once again) and people are tired of her always talking about it while she's never received a public response back. The song has a fresh beat but to me problem was yet another "who cares about your own life? write for everyone not to trash your ex" like it's been too much of that. And actually I said e=mc2 was a GR8 album. Butterfly was great. Guess singles were picked ok. She didn't promote the album, tanked it

@baretreemty The fact the song was more personal made it less vapid compared to some of her other works. When Mariah "writes for everyone" I think it actually stifles her artistic creativity. Most critics and Mariah herself considers her "Butterfly" album her best work because it was more about her & less about pleasing the masses. "Butterfly" sold less than "Daydream" and I actually respect her more for not caring about sales & reverting back to her "Music Box/Daydream" ways with "Rainbow"
