I have 2 green anoles and they are very good pets, But when the lights are on they are usually a light brown with their eyes green, But when i wake up in the morning and see them they are usually a light green, Is this a good thing?

I have an anole, I named is shannon, only to find out she was a he. But i love him so much, I think it is fasinating watching them change colors everyonce in a while. I took a vacation in Florida and saw some running around, when I got back home and saw my local pet store had some for sale, I just HAD to get one. Love him. Better than geckos and tree dragons... in my opinion. :)

@hubjubjub Lol! I know right? I caught mine and tamed him so well for about a year, that when hurricane ike came, my mom told me to release him, it was difficult, but I did. But the next day, I looked back and he was still in the exact place where I left him so I had to take him with me so he would avoid getting washed away waiting for me. :)

In the overlaping areas of Green/Brown Anoles, the Greens have taken to the Trees, where they have little competition from the Brown Anole, which prefers the ground.

If it's big, it's a male. Females have small, not very noticeable dewlaps.

No. They all have flaps. The adult females have a white stripe down their back and the adult males don't. I've raised them for like 10 yrs and they grow HUGE!

Around spring the mails try to mate with any female they see...they do a dance of bobbing their heads to determine each others sex. The males have a bright red flap on their necks and the females have a much smaller one and normally a discolored stripe down their backs.

Nah, different anoles have different personalities. Some love to be held, others don't. I have one really moody anole that doesn't like to be held. All the others like it, though.

I'm on vacation in Rehoboth Beach, DE, and at this gift shop they have these wild-caught green anoles in these tiny cages, and they're always brown and sad; they were charging $23.00 for them...Back where I'm from, they only charge $5 for one anole at a pet store...But it made me so sad that the anoles were taken away from their habitat, and put in tiny cages with nothing to clime on.... =(
