@tj007razor I did use my brain. I said it because this video and its description do not, as far as I'm aware, specify that it's a US-only campaign. The issue is a global one so the natural assumption is that the campaign should be a global one too. It makes sense to campaign to national politicians but it seems that other nations' importance has been overlooked - there could easily be links about how to campaign in your own country if you're not from the US, or something along those lines.
@DoctorS8n luke and kristina, youtubers/ ALL CAPS, a youtube based band, hank green is another youtube artist and is on the top 100 suscribed channels, his broher john is an author and says their channel, maureen another author, shawn helps people in third world countries like in bangladesh (sp?), and adam is on that show mythbusters on discovery
It's really terrifying to think like simple freedom of communication on the internet could be so easily taken away by big business. I can only hope humanity doesn't sink that low...
I've been to the website to sign the petition but I couldn't because I don't have an American zip code. I guess this only concerns American citizens...
@mysticmegthepeg It's about sending petitions and other such things to our congress/FCC, specifically. Why would non-US based people start lobbying for US regulations? Use your brain please.
If Net Neutrality doesn't succeed, then I have lost faith in humanity. This is the only place where we can truly express ourselves without worrying about what other people think. And Google/Verizon is trying to destroy that. I refuse to let them ruin a wonderful thing.
I don't get how this video has only had 13k views. We need to get this, and other videos, more popular so we can save ourselves from these corporate monsters.
yes, the internet is a service. but the beauty of it is that WE, the users, control what we see and read on it, not the ISPs. that's net neutrality. it's important.
and while obama may or may not support it, there are plenty on BOTH sides of the political spectrum who do, and -- IMO -- they need to speak up.
You people for Net Neutrality are so short sited. DIG DEEPER. Read your history. Sorry guess you're too busy watching video's of cats flushing toilets. The internet is NOT A RIGHT, its a service. It cost MONEY to provide this service in people, equipment, R&D for cheaper ways to give you faster connections. It's not in the providers best interest to censor you. That's the FCC's job, and they will even more if we let them. Don't take the FCC at face value find out the power this will allow them
it's wrong to keep us from downloading all our torrents and stealing copyrighted material from struggling artists. goodbye mindless, droning, self-important e-turds. as evidenced by this video, the internet makes you stupid, and i won't miss the world-wide-wtf when the FCC finally takes it away. hello cloud computing, hello centralized governance, goodbye personal computing. Jane, get me off this crazy thing, cause I miss the sun.
@TheChicagoPunk It now has 6 dislikes.....4 more idiots than before...pershaps it was comcast, AT&T or another company.....perhaps they were just trolls with nothing better to do with their time or life
Im into anything that promotes Net Neutrality, though Im not sure about the attempt at humour in this vid, When you go on about cats, I don't think it's universal humour - it's net-geek humour.
I fear that an average internet user might look at this vid and think: "See? This is the sort of blathering crap I wouldn't miss if the internet were throttled."
Just my thoughts. Yes, I'm critical, but it's cuz I care.
Leave public awareness to the real celebrities, if people see a bunch of dorks on the internet with cat videos they're not going to give a shit, and they'd have good reason not to.
I know this is legit because I can see John's puff gradually grow throughout the video. But seriously, it's awesome to see people willing to stand and fight for our most basic rights when they're not being threatened by foreign powers but by our own corporate citizens trying to squeeze another few pennies out of an already profitable industry. Damn the Man! Save the Internet!
This video, though well-meant, takes an extremely serious issue and trivializes it. Instead of talking about kittens it should have focused on the more substantial ways that infringing on net neutrality would degrade our uses of the Internet.
the video is okay, but really vague. Maybe the FCC shouldnt have as much control over it, but the providers shouldnt at all because we all know that many companies are not ethical one time or another with competition.
they should be able to control how much bandwidth their customers can use, but not single out specifics.
None of these things are not like the others... All of these things most certainly belong. They have all been afforded internet access. They all will be able to afford internet access without Net neutrality. For some there is - as they said about "back then" - no internet. Key phrase: "cable and phone companies "COULD" censor our videos, or yours" 1:16 Comcast could have already censored this content... why haven't they already? Know the consequences of your cause!
Before the 'net, were BBSes and net-like services (AOL, Compuserve, Prodigy). Anyone who knows what a 14.4 is, knows how horrible a non-neutral internet might look like: sure, you could play games on AOL, but forget shopping. You could shop on Prodigy, but not Compuserve. ...And Compuserve was just a glorified forum. Among those of us who preferred freedom and neutrality... we chose BBSes, and brought it to the 'net as is. Companies like Verizon are the Prodigy of times past. Net-Neutrality ftw.
This is a really amazing video, for a really amazing cause. As a member of an independent collaborative channel, this cause is very important to me. I will fight for this as hard as I can, and I will not stop fighting until this issue is resolved.
I think it's cute how you think this is about obama and some american regulatory committee, and some american companies. You understand that the internet is a worldwide thing, right?
@pete275 Yeah the internet is a worldwide thing, but we're not talking about how the internet is used in different countries. We're talking about America where the evil corporate monsters want to be in full control. Net Neutrality is going to make sure that no companies in the United States are allowed to become internet dictators.
Um, I LOVE THIS VIDEO. The topic is fantastic. The way it was done is fantastic. It has loads of my favorite Internet people in it. It's unbelievably hilarious. How much more awesome could this get?
We've got a free and neutral internet right now. Getting the FCC or other government entity involved will only guarantee that the internet will become a regulated mess that only the government can create. It will be anything but free and neutral.
@carshooter The problem with that is that although we currently do have a free internet, the big corporations are wanting to control it more strictly. They're wanting to implement different levels of access to the internet, and put controls on sites individually. It was mentioned in the video that if it came to be as Comcast, Verizon, etc wanted it to, you may possibly not be able to access your favorite site quickly, or at all, because they couldn't afford to give you access.
@AtroxMavenia Your fears are completely misplaced. It's not big evil corporations that have the power or desire to control what you watch. The government has much more power when it comes to that. And, if the government restricts your access to something you have no recourse. If a corporation like Comcast does something stupid and restricts your access to some site you can make a lot of noise or you can even switch service providers. Easy.
