By taking what I know of modern government and then reading between the lines of the historical narrative between 1850-1870 an ugly picture emerges. I believe history has been rewritten about the true nature of conflict between the natives and settlers. I think the true conflict was between large monied interests and natives, and less so on an individual level.
So much damage has been done in the relations between the European and Native races that I wouldn't know where to begin to fix it.

I have seen a great deal of assholes and stupid people who "think" they know something my whole life! The Indian people were robbed,..lied to countless times,..deceived, manipulated and lied to again. @44skins What you say is largely true. Nevertheless, you are a wealthy man (at least by world standards) enjoying the fruits of this civilization including the internet and youtube. So where does that leave us? Perhaps we should be grateful for what we have, not denigrate our ancestors but build on what they have left us to make the world more just.

All past civilizations have had good and bad. That america has great accomplishments does not negate its great sins. I see no reason to take either blame or credit for the actions of dead men I never knew, and neither is even relevenat to what we do in the future. We will build regardless.

@44skins Yes, but if everybody is treated as an individual then we can clear are eyes and see this has happened to everybody. No race is innocent, we are all sinners and what happened to my grandpa, grandpas dad, and so on does not prove my brothers and sisters of today guilty. Times were very different back then and will never be perfect or even close.

there are two types of cherokee: real and fake.
the fake ones tend to use online english to cherokee translators then they post cherokee phrases around the internet and pretend to have a "great great great grandmother cherokee". sometimes if they feel extra special, they say that it was a cheif or princess. they tend to go to fake cherokee gatherings. people want to be cherokee because they see movies like pocahontas and movies like new moon with jacob black and they think it's cool or something
