  • Judaical Activism at it's best, now they will own us all, either we work for pennies on the dollar, or they will crash the markets, close the banks, and fire us all for foreign workers! Can you say third world country! We should end the lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court!

  • A bright day is upon us. The Supreme Court has expanded democracy by allowing

corporations unlimited election purchasing power. Special interest is the new black.

  • Next, we will all be OWNED by corporations under the Collectivist world government hostile take-over of America.

This will be the death of what is left of freedom and liberty and the coming of the Military Industrial Complex Police-State Control-grid.

  • We have judges appointed by presidents, choosing to interpret the constitution as applying personal liberties guaranteed by the first amendment to corporations. They have no fear of being voted out; they have life time appointments; thus, I interpret this decision as being a personal favor granted to GOP candidates. This is probably the most important decision to democracy in a decade, and underscores how our capitalist democracy is turning into a corporatist one. Its short term thinking

  • This is not right and anyone with half a brain knows that a corporation is not a person regardless of what the law says.

Imagine, millions of dollars being funneled in to political campaigns by large corporations like Time Warner with their own dedicated marketing firms to push a candidate, this is not right.

All of this is not right. And it is time to fix this insanity.

  • parasitism owns the money machines

  • ah this is fucked. these sonsabitches have no souls.

  • I am one man= one vote

    One man = individual vote

    Corporation= individual vote+ corp vote

    Corporation unionized= individual vote+corp vote+union vote

    Corporation unionized w/ lobbyist= ind. vote+corp vote +union vote+ lobbying vote

Lets keep a level playing field by making it one man, ONE vote......PERIOD...........

  • This Supreme Court decision has caused me to join the tea party movement.

This decision, more than anything else, will give control of the country to the top 5%.

Not sure we can stop this - BUT WE MUST TRY.

  • What we are seeing, is the birthing of or at least the move to Marxism, more accurate would be Fascism. WE THE PEOPLE must now rise, STAND and resist this as this is Treason. An out of control Treasonous Government now bent on placing the last plank of the Communist Manifesto. Straight out of Karl Mar`s Playbook (Script).

  • Karl Marx. (Typo Below)

  • This bill is a reward for incumbents for all of the heat they have been taking from the peasants at the gate!

  • The tea party people may be right - & this decision should turn over all control of gov't to corporations - something Jefferson warned us about.

It may be time for Revolution or for states to leave the union---THIS IS HORRIBLE.

  • starraider113

No confusion here. The corporations may use their vast resources to slant, distort, demean, misrepresent, & out&out lie to dismiss or destroy someone who's view are counter to where their corporate interests are. The Bush/Dick Supreme Court dream team has screwed America one more time. Even the middle class bonehead Republicans have to see that corporate freedom of speech is a long way from the Individual's freedom of speech. This allows the rich gangs to dominate the rest of us.

  • No big deal here, except for the fact that people won't do due diligance in their choices and some/most will only hear the loudest/most frequently played propoganda.

When will people wake up and see that both parties are just the different sides of the same brass penny? Their agendas are exactly the same: aquire, exercize and retain power. All politicians and corporate leaders are advised to review how it ended for Mussolini.

  • It's amazing that the "tea party folk" keep crying "we the people" but keep supporting those who are giving the control of government to the CORPORATIONS!

  • "We the people" could see our own government trying to nationalize or destroy every private business we have in this country. Three letters...N F W!

  • Everyone blaming this situation on democrats or liberals -

Today's decision was supported by five justices who were Republican nominees. They include Kennedy and Roberts along with Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr.

The dissenters included the three Democratic appointees: Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor.

Who is really the one killing popular control of America?

  • and here I was thinking the election system couldn't get any worse...but I guess it will benefit both sides in some form or another since it effects unions and non-profit groups as well...that being said, I think if you want to socialize anything, socialize our election system...this isn't just about "free speech", it's about the ability of money to make those special interest voices louder...

  • This is a black day for America. The supreme court stacked by Bush appointees are stricking with a vengence. Politicians don't even need to have a semblance of propiety anymore. Candidates will look like Nascar Race Cars, with corporate logos plastered across their chests. One more iniquity we have to thank the criminal facist Mr Bush for.

  • I think some people here are confused. The Supreme court determined the law was unconstitutional. The "state" does not have the authority to tell private companies, rich or not, how to spend money. Problem is,

  • Libs know large corporations are run by conservatives who wer willing to work hard and achieve things, which is how they got where they are. And Libs know how those people vote and that they are liable to spend money on candidates who don't want to steal their hard-earned money and give it away.

  • @aerodynamic1 are you really saying that you are in favor of corps and unions to flood the airwaves with more one sided propaganda? I suppose it doesn't matter since they have been doing it for years with lobbyists, only now they can do it in our face instead of behind closed doors.

  • Unions are typically pretty left-leaning, not sure what you're worried about there, MBD. But, corporation owners are people first, and they have rights like you and I. Always vote on the side of more freedom, not less.

  • @aerodynamic1 not sure about you, but I am worried about unions as much a corps...the lobby system is morally bankrupt as it is. This ruling only makes it easier for those with money to influence politicians more easily than those who don't regardless of merit...I'm all for freedom of speech but not at the expense of a fair electoral system...

  • Let's just say I trust the government even less than I trust corporations or even unions. Uncle Sam has far more power to affect my life than any corporation or union. Therefore, I feel distrust in government first is always well-placed.

  • @MississippiBlueDog - Freedom of speech was written into the constitution as a guaranteed right to individuals. It was NEVER intended to be used by corporations. Over the years, it has been twisted by those in power to serve those in power.

  • @aerodynamic1 - Then let the individual owners do as they please with their free speech. Fine. But corporations are not individual humans, and as such, they should not have this right.

  • what should we do? this is scary

  • For those paying attention. This is scary. II am not sure what to do.

  • REFUSE and RESIST thats what you can do

This overturning amounts to fascism giving Companies the rights of individuals.

Fascism---- a political ideology that seeks to combine radical and authoritarian nationalism with a corporatist economic system

  • I've been kidding about saving money to move to Canada until today.

  • The Republican Supreme Court just gave the rich corporations the right to kill Hillary Clinton and anyone else that happened to represent something that bothered them. The Republican Supreme Court has decided that the individual will not be protected from a corporation propagandizing to destroy said individual. The individual now has no voice or means to respond to these one sided attacks presented in these character assasination videos produced to demean and destroy an individual's good name.

  • So that's why the right wing is able to muck up the works.

  • Doesnt make any sense at all ! Clearly a conflict of interest. As if we dont have enough of corporate interest already ! What kind of Justices are on the bench ?

  • nazi

  • This is absurd. This should never be allowed. Look how quickly standing precedents were overturned to make this possible, but if it concerned your freedoms the precedents would stand in stone.

  • HILLARY IS GREAT!!

  • Huge mistake to give corporations the rights of an individual.

  • I beleve Banking Institutions are more Dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.

If we allow Banks to control the issue of currency, first by inflation then by deflation. The corporations that grow up around the banks will deprive the people of ALL prosperity. Until our children wake up homeless on the land their fathers Conquered------- Thomas Jefferson.

  • This means a foreign corporation doing business in the United States has the same individual rights as you and I.

  • I'm confused, is the supreme court part of the judicial branch or the legislative branch? Perhaps I am just stupid. But once again we see corporate influence has infected all branches of govt. Why don't we just hand it all over to some huge corporate financial company and lets call them "our new government" They have done such a fine job so far.

I want out of this country so badly....

I'd love to expatriate to say Antarctica...not many corporations and politicians there...just penguins. Perfect.

  • but its ok to use media to convince people?

lets make it a crime for the media to put out biased news.

  • Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices. Fuck these ultra cunt justices.

  • Brilliant comeback. No wonder you guys are about to lose it all.

  • All I have to say to you is, ENJOY YOUR ASTRO-TURF.. BITCHES.

  • Um. WTF? I rest my case.

  • WTF indeed. I'm the insane person and these are insane times we're living in. I don't even know if you're for or against my position, but it doesn't matter. We're fucked.

  • I suppose I'm against your position, which, by default, puts you against mine as well. But I'll tell you this...if my peeps and your peeps keep up this pissing match, we all lose. We gotta find some common ground or we're in trouble.

  • You want middle ground? I'll give you middle ground. It's called the public option. You can have your private insurance if you want it, or you can choose the public option. Thats how most Europe works. It's Canada and the U.K. who are fucked with the government running the entire thing.

  • Sounds good in theory, however in my opinion, Obama wants complete control over health care. He says you'll still have the public option, but because Uncle Sam's health insurance doesn't have to earn a profit, private health ins companies won't be able to compete, and viola! Out of buiness they go, and Obama gets what he wants, completely socialized healthcare.

  • The public option was never about dumping tax dollars to support government-run insurance. People would have to pay premiums. Poor people would get subsidies to pay for insurance in the market exchange, and given the private industry's track record, they would overwhelmingly choose the public option.

When you hear liberals talk about driving private insurance out of business, it come from a position of hatred. We've watched loved ones suffer and die because of some corporate bureaucrat.

  • "...it come from a position of hatred". Every Liberal position can be traced to hatred of one thing or another. Every Liberal I know is by nature an angry person. Just look at your weird rant about nine or ten comments up. I can see you're smarter than that by your following posts, so you're better off sticking to an intelligent argument. Anyway, I have no problem with helping out people who really need help. Also, who did you know that died because of a corporate bureaucrat?

  • Ok, lets put away the liberal and conservative labels for a moment. When I say hatred, I'm talking about real human emotion. Someone you love has some form of cancer. Before that person can be treated, the insurance company has to make sure there isn't some loop hole they can use as reasoning to deny coverage. Thats where the rage comes from. The status quo sucks ass. That's why we liberals demand something better. We want results. We don't want to wait for some consensus to sign off on it.

  • Ok, let me put it this way:

WE HAVE SEEN THE DEATH PANELS.

Sarah Palin can go on her Facebook page and say whatever she wants. But in the end, she is stupid as fuck.

You imagine what the government would do. We've seen what the private industry has done.

You think your anger is real? OUR hatred is REALLY REAL.

Corporations who tell their employees to deny payment of claims, and reward those who follow those instructions with bonuses. That is already happening and you are oblivious to it.

  • Dude, I've already said the healthcare system needs work. But the propensity of Liberals to demand from others never ceases to amaze me. Why do other people owe you anything? I don't care if you're talking about AIG or McDonalds or your fellow taxpayer. Because that is what you're doing, extending your hand and demanding your neighbor take care of you. I'd rather die than do that, so I guess the difference is pride.

  • What we liberals demand is simple human dignity. We don't desire the wealth of others. They can have their fucking wealth. It's what the poster said below: They refuse to cover his/her friend. America can spend billions of dollars waging bullshit wars overseas, but can't even ensure that it citizens have access to decent medical care.

  • name me a case where someone was refused medical care. And I don't mean payment of it. I mean the care itself.

  • And dignity? When you rely on others, digity is something you can never know, and here we come to the crux of the difference between us. I don't want to rely on you or my neighbor or the government for ANYTHING. One does not gain dignity from reliance on others, one gains it from hard-earned independence.

  • @aerodynamic1

From an Aussie perspective the fact the US health system sends patients bankrupt is barbaric. Aussies pay a 1.5% tax levy on income, it gives us much cheaper care with demonstratably better health outcomes and nobody goes bankrupt because they are sick.

It's not a hand out, it's compulsory, paperless insurance without the nightmare of going bankrupt or not being able to afford medication.

It's great you take pride in standing on your own feet, but no man is an island.

  • My close friend Becca just might die because of fat cats. She was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was young, and it luckily was dormant. When she was 12, her mother died and her father lost his job + health care afterward. Since then, absolutely no health company will touch her.

She's now 22, and in her 1st year of grad school. She is afraid that her cancer is spreading, and there is NOT A DAMN THING SHE CAN DO ABOUT IT. Current technology can cure her, but she can't afford it.

  • First , if she dies, it isn't BECAUSE of "fat cats", it is because of cancer. Put the blame where it belongs. Rich, influential people die from cancer and other causes all the time, even if they are "fat cats". Second, I'm pretty sure she would have qualified for state aid if her father wasn't working and there was no other income. Why did her father lose his job?

  • By the way, the "current technology" you referred to was developed by private corporations..."fat cats"...NOT the government.

  • She may die of a treatable cancer, but fat cats see her as a client who would wreck their bottom line. Rich people die of cancer when there is no cure. There is one for her. Her grandparents helped her out when she was young so her family wasn't broke, and back in the day doctors advised her family to do nothing about it. This is b/c it was too deep in her brain to operate, and had calcified meaning if they tried to remove it, cancer cells might fracture off and move through her blood stream.

  • I think he lost his job because he was simply doing poor work, mostly due to the fact that he was seriously depressed over the loss of his wife. He took to drinking a lot at that time.
