Can you make a anti-static solar calculator(Or device) if you wrap the calculator in see thru and anti-static plastic so light can still get in for energy to the solar calculator for its solar power supply. Electronic Devices would be static free even electrical water static free. Great for army devices for anti static and solar capable still.

simple fix tap the body of the car near your door before touching the nozzle to discharge your self.

The static electricity charge is generated, by someone wearing clothes of some synthetic-based fabric, rubbing against car seats clad with fabric that's also synthetic. Vinyl upholstrey likewise does it. And it's not just cold and DRY Winter weather; it can happen in the WARM or HOT and DRY Desert climates, too.

@trueancient It IS the law. People are just lazy. I have hauled fuel for years and see it everyday. Smoking too. People are just stupid. I see Nozzles left in the cars while they go into the store, Sometimes they don't shut off and gas runs all over the lot.These people have to pay for it. And if it is a spill over 5 gal. They have to pay for the clean up also.and that can be in the Thousands fo dollars.

I Agree with usaleb, if you discharge your self on the car body just by touching it for 5 seconds or so, you will discharge any static, MAKE SURE YOU TOUCH THE METAL PART OF THE CAR like the door, boot/trunk, side panels, and you should do this before and After fueling

It's far safer to stay in the car to avoid breathing the fumes. Left hand goes on roof of car, then right hand removes nozzle... Best of all, "say no to dirty, dangerous fuel."

best thing to do, touch your car with your full hand right before you start fueling, and while you fuel, and as you end fueling, a full hand will avoid static discharge at a small area (like your finger tips), which means, it will discharge with much lower voltage and it will take the sparks away, i thought i might share this with someone because i do this thing every time i fuel, i put my hand somewhere on the car (not the window though :) and that's because i always have static Elec. ref: EE

nice info. was also thinking thesame thing. just like when putting together a PC. youneed that discharging band on you that grounds you to the chassis of the PC to discharg your body.one thing to if possible. to fold up anything long and loose on what you are wearing and wet your hands. wet hands does not creat static.
