In my youth I had the privilege of working on the "California", a Beautiful Barkentine configured such as this only she was smaller.
I climbed all over the rigging, and would sit a top the highest yardarm spotting Greywhales.
This vessel had sailed around the world and is the vessel featured (with pictures) in the book: "Give me the World" by: Leila Hadley.
Although operated as a tourist attraction we did sail quite a bit, even blew-out sails in heavy seas.
Sadly, sank off Point Loma, California
