@alextheromanian its not so much nuclear power that is the problem, its people in general, it was through human error and bad decisions that caused the chernobyl disaster, and fukushima was caused by an earthquake and a tsunami, i dont know why a nuclear power plant was put in an earthquake prone area in the first place but there ya go.
Because they are all dissabled and won,t work anymore!!! But nobody want,s to have a high level of radiation comming from a chopper of other verhicle!!!
Pretty cool to see that so many years later, I hope they never touch that stuff even when it becomes safe again, that is a moment in time in history and it would be a neat tourist attraction.
Yes, actualy we can learn something from this disaster. Never turn off cooling system on an nuclear reactor just to see how it will behave! It will behave like reactor 4 did!

@europeandancer Climate change predicts that the world will change. Not be destroyed. This world will change back to nothing but lava and it's iron core before it is destroyed.
And yes, I have done exactly 661 minutes of research.
@Bbgood299 Fair enough and I agree there, I mean "end of the world" as end of the human race or massive deaths in the billions.. Sorry for missinterpreting my thoughts.
i cant stand when people assume depleted uranium is deadly because of radiation. its used for large caliber ammo because how hard it is. if it was that bad i would be dead by now.
@floydian218 You're wrong. It's not hard at all, it's like lead, soft and very dense. That's why it is used, to make very heavy bullets with lots of kinetic energy. Penetrator tip still needs to be some hard metal, like tungsten or wolfram.
Depleted uranium in a chunk is hardly radioactive, if you hold it in your hands. However, once the bullet hits the armor or a building, all those sparks go off. That's metal that is evaporated or powdered on impact - like rifle bullets hitting steel plate ..
@floydian218 Problem is if troops come in contact with the target and inhale all that dust. That dust is bad in 2 ways. Uranium is a heavy metal like lead, mercury ... and if it gets into your body, it's toxic. That's why all deformed babies. Secondly, while it is hardly radioactive on the outside, when a particle gets into your cells, it's so close to genetic material and the weak radiation THEN does serious damage. Otherwise air stops radiation, inside the cell nothing stops it
@floydian218 And I forgot to add, DU is harmful to all the people who continue living in the area for those same two reasons. They come in contact with it either by cleaning up, touching stuff or it gets into food years later.
@Cesario82 I live 27 miles north of Fort Drum and there is no sign of Cancer rate and no reports about any Uranium storage in the Air Force Base. It's 8 to 15 miles Northwest of Watertown (city) If they are storing the Uranium, they would not Storage less then 60 miles from a dense population city.

Depleted uranium is just that: depleted. Only the uranium isotope U235 is radioactive. Depleted uranium has been stripped of the 235 isotope and then used for large caliber ammunition because of its density. It is not very radioactive.
depleted uranium is what they in anti tank missles . 3000ton would wipe out millions . like he said 50 tons from chernobyl .....this reached uk, us , canada and all over europe are traces ....3000 tons come on.........
Eh, Uranium is pretty dense, and was widely used as armor piercing ammunition.
Though it was never 'dumped' anywhere.
That said, it's not very radioactive, being composed of U-238 instead of the less stable U-234. However, it is a pretty toxic element, about the same level as lead. It's fine to handle, but you might want to think twice before grinding it up and and inhaling it.
I dont know why you've been down thumbed so many times for your comment. I dont agree that Bush was a 'great' president, but he certainly never dumped 3000 tons (or any) depleted uranium. The entire Chernobyl fallout was 50 tons so this guy is talking even more shit.
Those helicopters have flown recently. I have seen what these look like when they have been left out in the elements for a couple of years. There may be an evaluation team there checking the area or something.
the people who builded those concrete barriers in chernobyl to prevent the radiation from spreading were true heros and should not be forgotten. these people sacrificed there lives for the well being of all of us today.
Capitalism - like the kind Hitler was fond of - control of government by private corporations - is twisted evil, too. Look at the millions of slave kidnapped from their home and thousands of them murdered by Europeans, Americans, and basically the whole world. Nationalism is responsible for all the unjustified murders of which you speak. 2 million in US prisons. Of those killed by Marxist governments, how many of them broke the law? Maybe all. Stupid to blame Marxism but not nationalism.
Evil exists everywhere and in all people. Stupid and unnecessary bigotry to condemn all Marxists (the people) and Marxism for their heroic struggles against slavery and deaths in the coal and textile industries. Karl Marx's "Das Kapital" is an incredibly brilliant book. Nothing in there telling women not to vote or that blacks should be slaves, unlike all the conservative philosophies that have specifically tried to maintain selfish petty unfair cultural traditions.
If I made blanket comments about Nazism that were applicable, I'd suffer criticism only from devoted neo-Nazis.
I think it's fairly applicable to blame Chernobyl on the corrupt incompetance and anti-Ukranian prejudice of the Bolsheviks ruling the country at the time. I'd only expect to receive criticism for it from the die-hard neo-Marxists still stubbornly clinging to this abhorrent ideology.
And honestly, I couldn't give less of a damn about how Marxists feel about my honest criticism.
DrCruel is correct. The marxist government (sorry dictaroship) had a separate atomic commision that knew there was serious flaws with this reactor type design and there was hushed up incidents in plants operating the RBMK like Ignalina (think 12 in total accidents). And guess what? They still allowed them to shut down and test an unstable reactor Chernobyl. If this is marxism for you that nearly ended this planet, then what is capitalism and nazism? Communisn is twisted an evil!
@johnmcluskey You sir, are an idiot, and you have no idea what you're talking about. This disaster had nothing to do with communism. The government was to blame for this, those people. Not "communism". Communism is just a beautiful idea, that doesn't work because it's in our nature to be selfish...
@ztev13 Communism in part can be blamed, because the disaster occured while by my information, politically appointed people were in while testing something that should never be tested. They shut off water pumps to see what happens and it they can run on aux power. When they turned them off and back on, everything went straight to hell as water boiled up, evaporated and exploded, and kicked all the uranium and plutonium around. State also didn't warn people for a few days.
@johnmcluskey You're really so naive believing this? The only difference between communist and capitalist states is that the communist save money because they just don't have it, and the capitalists save it because they want to get richer as they are anyway. Do you really think Mr.Burns cares about your health?
@johnmcluskey Haha.. Communism has nothing to do with a power plant being badly designed. Communism is how you run economy and plant design rests in hands of engineers.
I have no intention of being "careful" when speaking about Marxists. I've already had enough of their death threats.
Better to fight their lies now than let them get strong again. They've killed enough people as far as I'm concerned. The lot of them should be tried for their crimes and hanged.
Marxists were responsible for Chernobyl - not the little guys, but the leaders. They should have been brought to account.
Blanket blaming of an ideology, real smart one :-D your the smartest guy in the room, maybe you can enlighten us with some more broad sweeping generalizations. Hi-5! Please spew some more unsupported facts, hey you know what they say about arguing on the internet, even if you win your still retarded. :-D

depleted uranium is what they in anti tank missles . 3000ton would wipe out millions . like he said 50 tons from chernobyl .....this reached uk, us , canada and all over europe are traces ....3000 tons come on.........
Asifyoudidthat 2 years ago
Eh, Uranium is pretty dense, and was widely used as armor piercing ammunition.
Though it was never 'dumped' anywhere.
That said, it's not very radioactive, being composed of U-238 instead of the less stable U-234. However, it is a pretty toxic element, about the same level as lead. It's fine to handle, but you might want to think twice before grinding it up and and inhaling it.
TemplarLucas 2 years ago
BUT
The minimalist part of uranium as dense metall is VERY VERY toxic!
So if its in the ground water you are DEAD!
Earthbound64 2 years ago
Can I smoke or inject it?
Nah, just joking XD

You are an idiot, Bush didn't drop shit on anyone and was a great president!
arthurkitchen 2 years ago
I dont know why you've been down thumbed so many times for your comment. I dont agree that Bush was a 'great' president, but he certainly never dumped 3000 tons (or any) depleted uranium. The entire Chernobyl fallout was 50 tons so this guy is talking even more shit.
supertuber97 2 years ago
No, you don't. But that is a good way to win this argument, so keep talking.

why is everything rusting but the helicopters look brandnew?
can one just go there? or is there a fence around the area and you can only go there with autorisation?
krabbi1993 2 years ago
all those cars/helicopters were used for disaster and there highly radio active
dekiller82 2 years ago
Those helicopters have flown recently. I have seen what these look like when they have been left out in the elements for a couple of years. There may be an evaluation team there checking the area or something.
MAOfights 2 years ago
i think because theyre made of aluminium but cars are made of steel or sumthing like that what takes rust
bantheidiotsplz 2 years ago
Exactly. Choppers are sitting there since 1986, other vehicles were put about a year later after the clean-up operation they were still used for.

the people who builded those concrete barriers in chernobyl to prevent the radiation from spreading were true heros and should not be forgotten. these people sacrificed there lives for the well being of all of us today.

Maybe all. Stupid to blame Marxism but not nationalism.
ecordy75 2 years ago
Evil exists everywhere and in all people. Stupid and unnecessary bigotry to condemn all Marxists (the people) and Marxism for their heroic struggles against slavery and deaths in the coal and textile industries. Karl Marx's "Das Kapital" is an incredibly brilliant book. Nothing in there telling women not to vote or that blacks should be slaves, unlike all the conservative philosophies that have specifically tried to maintain selfish petty unfair cultural traditions.
ecordy75 2 years ago
If I made blanket comments about Nazism that were applicable, I'd suffer criticism only from devoted neo-Nazis.
I think it's fairly applicable to blame Chernobyl on the corrupt incompetance and anti-Ukranian prejudice of the Bolsheviks ruling the country at the time. I'd only expect to receive criticism for it from the die-hard neo-Marxists still stubbornly clinging to this abhorrent ideology.
And honestly, I couldn't give less of a damn about how Marxists feel about my honest criticism.
DrCruel 2 years ago
DrCruel is correct. The marxist government (sorry dictaroship) had a separate atomic commision that knew there was serious flaws with this reactor type design and there was hushed up incidents in plants operating the RBMK like Ignalina (think 12 in total accidents). And guess what? They still allowed them to shut down and test an unstable reactor Chernobyl. If this is marxism for you that nearly ended this planet, then what is capitalism and nazism? Communisn is twisted an evil!
johnmcluskey 2 years ago 9
@johnmcluskey You sir, are an idiot, and you have no idea what you're talking about. This disaster had nothing to do with communism. The government was to blame for this, those people. Not "communism". Communism is just a beautiful idea, that doesn't work because it's in our nature to be selfish...
ztev13 1 year ago
@ztev13 umm bud look up north korea and tell me that cummunism works
coalandnuclear 1 year ago
@coalandnuclear I said that communism does NOT work, bud.
ztev13 1 year ago

OmenFrankfurt 1 year ago
@johnmcluskey Haha.. Communism has nothing to do with a power plant being badly designed. Communism is how you run economy and plant design rests in hands of engineers.
idricool 1 year ago
I have no intention of being "careful" when speaking about Marxists. I've already had enough of their death threats.
Better to fight their lies now than let them get strong again. They've killed enough people as far as I'm concerned. The lot of them should be tried for their crimes and hanged.
Marxists were responsible for Chernobyl - not the little guys, but the leaders. They should have been brought to account.

Blanket blaming of an ideology, real smart one :-D your the smartest guy in the room, maybe you can enlighten us with some more broad sweeping generalizations. Hi-5!
