The 2 Witnesses are (1) the Spirit & (2) the Bride (Revelation 22: 17). Zerubbabel is the Governor (Christ) & the Bride is a priest (Joshua). Note that the bride is the true Church who is Zion/Jerusalem. She is a real person & Church of Philadelphia (Rev 3: 12), the mother of God's children (Gal: 4: 26-27). Her Lord indwells her (Zec 2: 10; Jn 12: 15) for which reason she is asked to SING & SHOUT. This Mystery (Eph 5: 32) is hidden from the Christian Churches which indeed is not the NT Church.

This is very well done. It is what I believe I have recently come to understand. That just like Joshua and Zerubbabel, these 2 witnesses (and they are men) serve the same purpose as the Urim and Thummim. Missing as it was in the rebuilding of the 2nd temple, Joshua and Zerbbabel were given an especial anointing to fulfill its purposes. Their presence will give a literal fulfillment to Psalm 2.
The key to understanding who these 2 men are is given in Rev. 11:1-4. They are given an especial anointing just like Joshua and Zerbbabel, and are even given the same descriptive correlation as is given in Zechariah 4:3. The two witnesses with an especial anointing, will be given revelation to undertake the task of rebuilding the altar and reinstituting the sacrifices and the priesthood, without the existence of Urim and Thummim. Read Ezra, Nehemiah and Zechariah to understand their ministry.

Sarcasm aside, the LORD's use of picture-images is made clear in the Book of Daniel chapter 7 when the "beast" is interpreted by the angel as a "kingdom". Thus, the two witnesses, candlesticks, the "rod and the staff" refer to the old and new testaments. Such use of images is a characteristic of the Bible.

The two witnesses (of what?) are the Old Testament and the New Testament.... when religion was banned from France for three and a half years (Rev 11), Napoleon had to restore religion in 1796ad. A prophet is someone who speaks for Yahweh.

The "two witnesses" are symbolic language, not literally "two" people. The two witnesses are the LIVE ENDTIME SAINTS who keep the commandments of God (and because of this obedience have His spirit / symbolically oil) and the testimony of Jesus Christ, Rev 14:12.
Notice in Rev 11: 4, TWO olive trees and TWO candlesticks ... that's FOUR, not TWO (symbolic language).
Yet more proof of the wisdom of God is that He never told the identities of these two witnesses, for if He had told us then in doing so would also be telling their enemies, and giving those enemies time to prepare and a chance to target them before they were strong enough to resist.

The powers the witnesses have are symbolic. Search the bible to find out what they mean. Shutting up heaven so no rain will fall. The word is the seed, we water the seed and God gives the increase. IF there is no water the seed doesn't grow, thus a curse. The fire that comes from their mouth is the judgement of God. The very same word which we speak will judge them at the last day. This is how they will die, being judged. It IS the church.
We must remember that God put that information in the bible for a reason. It is reasonable that it should be possible for it o be understood since they play such an important part in the unfolding of Gods salvation plan. There are such great implications made if this is the church since the antichrist was able to overcome them.

I think the two witnesses are Elijah and Enoch.. The scriptures says "And as it is appointed for men to die once.."(Hebrews 9:27) Elijah and Enoch haven't died (Genesis 5:23,24 2 Kings 2:11) It's possible that they could be the two witnesses and they will die when the beast kills them(Revelation 11:3).

The Two Witnesses is answered in Rev11:6. I Kings Ch17-18/ James 5:17 Elija prays that it wouldn’t rain. Moses turned the water to blood in Ex 7:14-25 Thus if you knew your OT like the faithful jew/christian would of, back before the temple was destroyed in 70AD. you would of picked up on that fast. Respond to this video...Why not Enoch and Elijah? the angels can't be the human witnesses in the end times...nor can any of the apostles. By this chapter in Revelation...the Christian church would have disappeared and the ancient prophets would be acceptable and recognizable to the Jews and those remaining on Earth- converting them to believers in Jesus' resurrection.

This oracle is a representation of a courtroom session where the witnesses come forward with testimony to the resurrection of Jesus and his demonstration of love for us. After they complete their testimony they are killed and they RISE AGAIN. Are you going to deny them as you do Christ by refusing to believe in the power of the humble witnesses. This is what they accomplish: Rev.11:15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: "The kingdom of the world has NOW become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever." The question you all should be asking is not "Who are these two" but rather "Why are they given the same powers as Christ himself. Also, why do they get snubbed by all of the people, even with miracles happening. What is their message? I know, but do you? This is very well done. It is what I believe I have recently come to understand. That just like Joshua and Zerubbabel, these 2 witnesses (and they are men) serve the same purpose as the Urim and Thummim. Missing as it was in the rebuilding of the 2nd temple, Joshua and Zerbbabel were given an especial anointing to fulfill its purposes. Their presence will give a literal fulfillment to Psalm 2.

The key to understanding who these 2 men are is given in Rev. 11:1-4. They are given an especial anointing just like Joshua and Zerbbabel, and are even given the same descriptive correlation as is given in Zechariah 4:3. The two witnesses with an especial anointing, will be given revelation to undertake the task of rebuilding the altar and reinstituting the sacrifices and the priesthood, without the existence of Urim and Thummim. Read Ezra, Nehemiah and Zechariah to understand their ministry.

Sarcasm aside, the LORD's use of picture-images is made clear in the Book of Daniel chapter 7 when the "beast" is interpreted by the angel as a "kingdom". Thus, the two witnesses, candlesticks, the "rod and the staff" refer to the old and new testaments. Such use of images is a characteristic of the Bible.

This is probably the most logical assignment to the 2 witnesses.

The "two witnesses" are symbolic language, not literally "two" people. The two witnesses are the LIVE ENDTIME SAINTS who keep the commandments of God (and because of this obedience have His spirit / symbolically oil) and the testimony of Jesus Christ, Rev 14:12.
Notice in Rev 11: 4, TWO olive trees and TWO candlesticks ... that's FOUR, not TWO (symbolic language).

The powers the witnesses have are symbolic. Search the bible to find out what they mean. Shutting up heaven so no rain will fall. The word is the seed, we water the seed and God gives the increase. IF there is no water the seed doesn't grow, thus a curse. The fire that comes from their mouth is the judgement of God. The very same word which we speak will judge them at the last day. This is how they will die, being judged. It IS the church.

God will send them strong delusion that they believe a lie, the mystery of iniquity is they don't know they are worshipping satan, the abomination of desolation is that Jesus has left the church desolate. But we really shouldn't be worried about who the witnesses are,or who the Antichrist is, or when this is going to happen, we should be preparing ourselves for what to and what not do do, like preaching to as many people as possible before we are gone, and not receiving the mark of the beast, so we are prepared for what is to happen to us

I think the two witnesses are Elijah and Enoch.. The scriptures says "And as it is appointed for men to die once.."(Hebrews 9:27) Elijah and Enoch haven't died (Genesis 5:23,24 2 Kings 2:11) It's possible that they could be the two witnesses and they will die when the beast kills them(Revelation 11:3).

@baretta1983 you have to read Zechariah 4:3-14, Malachi 4:5-6 then read Revelations 11. the two witnesses are not a group of people, but TWO INDIVIDUALS. they dont SYMBOLIZE anything but themselves. ENOCH and ELIJAH. point blank period. we need to stop trying to dig for an alternative meaning behind certain things in Revelations. sometimes they are mentioned in the Old Testament too. as a way of God saying, this is LITERAL, not ENCODED or PARABLES.

The 2-Witnesses are ENOCH and ELIJAH. Both were taken by God and have been standing with the Lord of the earth observing all of Human History, including the Virgin Birth & Death of Jesus Christ. These 2-Witnesses are also seen in Scripture at the Resurrection (Luke 24:4) and Ascension (Acts 1:10) of Jesus Christ.

The Two Witnesses is answered in Rev11:6. I Kings Ch17-18/ James 5:17 Elija prays that it wouldn’t rain. Moses turned the water to blood in Ex 7:14-25 Thus if you knew your OT like the faithful jew/christian would of, back before the temple was destroyed in 70AD. you would of picked up on that fast. Elija represents the Prophets and Moses represents Gods Law. Jesus in Matt 23:34-39 told us HES holding that generation responsible for all blood shed on earth. Go read it. aogden.com get his book!

These witnesses are depicted as the two Seripham who stand beside the ark of the covenant as constructed by the Hebrews. If Moses was one of them, wouldn't he have known? Elijah is a maverick like JohnB, he works alone. Do you think these mysteries come to people who are just merely interested. Even the elect are wrong. Not convinced? Ask Jesus.

The two witnesses are only referred to a few times and always described AS BEING PEOPLE NOT BOOKS. Just read it and you will understand. The religious leaders today are just the same as yesterday, they have all of the facts but everything important gets lost in translation. Read the words, they do not lie. Their dead body, singular in most texts, might be a hint to them being married. Mark [10:8]. It may be a restoration of Adam and Eve's marriage which was broken by their shame? They are also separate candlesticks from the main menorah Zech 4:12 which implies that God is calling them from outside of the original Hebrew church... they could be the angels who were with Jesus John 20:12, Daniel 12:5, taking account of his good deeds as a witnesses would Matt 18:16. They are NOT Moses, Enoch, Elijah!

Respond to this video...Why not Enoch and Elijah? the angels can't be the human witnesses in the end times...nor can any of the apostles. By this chapter in Revelation...the Christian church would have disappeared and the ancient prophets would be acceptable and recognizable to the Jews and those remaining on Earth- converting them to believers in Jesus' resurrection.

@Rainy64 You have a good case, however, Enoch was never told he would come back, neither was Elijah--God said Elijah would come back, not Elijah. Here is the truth, there are only TWO people in the entire bible who were told that they would come back and prophesy later-- John the Revelator who saw the witnesses and wrote Revelation and Ezekiel who also saw the witnesses and ate the SAME little scroll [a commission from God] See Zechariah 4:11 and compare to REV11. Look for yourself, I am right.

You don't make a metaphor for another metaphor, this is confusion and again, God is not the author of confusion and the book is called revelation not confusion. Your lack of insight is due to your lack of "child-like" observance and trust in the Revelation book itself. Everything is explained except the oracle in Rev 12. No tricks, just words.

The witnesses will be called terrorists and you fake believers will agree with this label, many Christians will say, "God would never kill anyone with plagues" or "These are Evil people controlled by a government or aliens". How will you know if it is a hoax? How will you know? You will see them rise and then you will know but it may be too late. Who can stand against them? Everyone who tries is killed with their rebuke. You will feel like you know nothing at all about God when they come.
