  • i attempted this and walked out smiling thinking i'd made £10. Then i looked to find i had somehow lost £10... serves me right for attempting to scam someone i guess :/

  • I did this in a shop and got caught and when the owner got angry and tried to throw me out i dropped my jeans and started to wank off.

  • i worked as a cashier and some fucker tried this on me. He tried to distract me by buying some small items. But it didn't fool me. Luckily im asian.

  • this is dam smart. im totally going to try this on an unsuspecting ice cream store

  • Comment removed

  • yeah it only works with idiot cashiers

  • Id rack this shotgun on a mf try this bs on me

  • LAWLZ im trying this

  • This scam seems to rely on the cashier being not all that bright.

As TheMusicBeats said just below... Why didn't she notice that she only had 9 in her hand before she gave him the 10? Anybody who works a till should follow the steps of receive money, count it, put it in till, then give change.

  • Or you could just, you know, take her wallet

  • @subscription90 same in Israel, dem Jews know their money for sure. lol

  • What if the women noticed he gave her 9 dollers instead of 10 before giving him the 10

  • I'm confused

  • I really didn't need it explained for me. I guess I should be proud of that? :/

  • Many businesses now have registers that do not open unless a purchase is being made. Another step is limiting or eliminating the acceptance of large bills. Some scammers will wait for someone to just finish a purchase and move in with a change request before the cashier shuts the drawer. But the best solution? "I'm sorry, sir. We do not give change, but you are free to purchase anything you like in our store." - lol

  • This is a particularly simple and dangerous scam, because it relies on the cashier scamming his/herself. If something goes wrong (like the cashier being more attentive) the scammer can just feign confusion, and no law has been broken. He/she is perfectly free to go to the next shop. If the scammer has a clean record, he/she may get off even if he/she leaves the store with the money, because it is so difficult to prove intent. "Oops. My mistake. How careless of me."

  • this is so stupied.

  • When I was young and dumb and in high school I worked fast food and some dbag tried this on me. I started to sense something was wrong when he gave me a $20 and a $10 and said "now give me TWO $20's". As soon as he said that I grabbed all the money, threw it into the cash register and slammed it shut so that it locked and went and got the manager. She recognized what he was trying to do and threatened to call the cops. He made a beeline for the exit. He ended up losing $10 so HAHA!

  • @FKatzenjammer fag?

  • @CrazyShitGuy20 dbag = douchebag

  • For more about con artists see my video:

    William Rodriguez: the Wrong Man

  • I tried to do this to my mum...

In the end I was the one who got scammed.. :(

  • @ZeoWorks lmfaoooooooooo!

  • @ZeoWorks Lol

  • this will never work ever. because no cashier will ever give you the 10 before counting it and if they do thenthey would ask for the 10 back before giving you the 20.

  • did they tell the old lady they scammed her ? :(

  • This has actually happened to me before at a store I worked at T.T here is how it works

    Man A walks in with a 20, asks for change recieves a 10, a 5, and 5 ones.

He then says to cashier, oh actually could I get a bigger bill for this? He hands them a 5 and 4 ones for a 10 then asks her to count it.

The cashier realizes that he is 1 short, and says so. So the man (who currently holds 20 + 10 that he just got) says let's just make it a 20 and hands back a 10 and a 1 (total of 20 for 10)

  • I don't get it..

  • I didn't understand that even when they explained it, I hate maths!

  • @Charlestonthedrummer You're not the only one.

  • This does work. However, results will vary. A change swap is usually an awkward transaction to begin with and the clerks typically "aren't allowed to change swap". If you get lucky and they do it, the hard part is then to get them to hand the money over first. If they count it, the gig is up. Odds are someone will eventually screw up, but it could take dozens of tries and lots of time to get a measly $10. If it was me, I would only try on small purchases that I wanted, wouldn't make it a job.

  • @pureperil I don't think you quite understood the scam, it doesn't matter who hands the money over first and I was surprised the shop lady didn't count it beforehand instead of him prompting her to, as that's what I'd assume to happen. Think about it, what do either of those things have to do with the success of the scam?

  • @Tronlet I give you $9 requesting a $10. You count it. You realize its short. So you demand the extra $1 to make it even. I give over the the $1. Now its $10 in assorted change. You hand over the $10. This is regular change swap. WE ARE EVEN. Now, I give you $9 requesting $10. You hand over the $10 first. You decide to count after the fact. You realize I'm short. So you demand an extra $1. I give you the extra $1 plus your $10. You give me back $20. Think before you post next time.

  • question is who came in and installed cameras?

  • i dought that works

  • This guy tried to do this to me at work. I tricked him and he walked away $10 lighter. lol.

  • if you do this once per day.... 10$ x 30 days = 300 additional dollars per month, lol ill start doing this

  • SUBTITLES !!!!!!!

  • I tried it today and it did not work

  • This happened to one of my employes once. 40 bucks.

  • ofcourse this is a setup, it's just an example. Still, it would probably work on some people.

  • How did they set up a camera in the shop? This is FAKE.

  • @Nogard229

They obviously asked the owner of the shop to try this trick in their store (their store is on TV, hooray!)

Please think a little or you will get scammed like her...

  • @Mehmegadude That's a little bit too convenient.

  • @Nogard229 it's a documentary you idiot it only shows how it is done... >.<

  • And people wonder why a lot of shops don't make change unless you buy something first.

  • lol monopoly money

  • that's slick. by having her count it, he makes her forget that it's actually the store's money.

  • What is this show called?

  • @hanfresco the real hustle, usually comes on bbc3 ch.115 (sky tv)

  • @hanfresco

    The Real Hustle

  • Comment removed

  • That was impressive. I didn't realize what happened until I thought about it.

  • yes its clevar , but common , how dogey does it seem if someone keeps asking for change this and that

  • Can you do it for ten to fifty pounds?

  • Dude! I hope he gave the money back to the lady and explained himself! That's just mean!

  • @PonytailGirI Clearly you've never seen this programme. It exploits all the cons known by the assholes who do them to the general public today. And basically gets the nation aware of what can happen. They do give the money or "stolen" items back afterwards also letting them put the con on the tv. Basically this show is doing the UK a favour :O!!!

  • @Bilt8 Yer but we all know tht con artist get new ideas from it.

  • Someone did this to me. Got a 100 bux off me. Sayin some dumb crap about these 20's don't feel lucky, lemme change em. He got me all fucked up.

  • Check out magslave com

  • probemarket. net is a scam & don't pay. stay far away.

  • This has happened to me twice onece last night , ways of avoiding this scam? please

  • surely this scam wouldnt work if the woman put the mans money in the till before giving him the tenna

  • Getting around the counting part is easy , but there's only one way... You need to buy it- then with that down you ask for your change then hide the ten and get the change from your origanel purchas. I love my job. .... And u also love my new iPod : )

  • i hate scammers >:(

  • wow!! even the british criminals are polite!

  • @dethica except the black ones, got punched in the face by one who was running out of a store. :(

  • @dethica

    go kill yourself

  • I had someone pull this on me many years ago and I already knew something was up. The harder you try to concentrate the more complicated this becomes. I felt satisfied when the transaction was complete but after the person left was when I finally figured out what had happened.

  • theres one small flaw in this scam that i really didnt even think about until i tried to actually do it...he has to give the ten BEFORE he counts the 9. which 9 out of 10 cashiers count before handing you the money. does anyone know how to get around this flaw or maybe just a simple way to get him to give you the ten before he counts?

  • @realsexy022 work with old people who can barely count like he did.. i notice that the slower and older your cashier is, and the faster and smarter you are, the better ur ods will work for you.

  • this doesn't work in china haha,....chinese people never wrong when come to money LOL. ,..

  • @subscription90 haha you serious?

  • @subscription90

Sounds like you come from china.LOL

  • someone tried to do this to me today.

it doesnt work if the cashier is paying attention. the woman got banned from the store.. so be aware.

  • its a little less confusing when your not talking about change and pounds....dollars are a lot less confusing when it comes to this. just my opinion

  • @realsexy022 its exactly the same you just call it dollars :P

  • Yeahhh I got fired cause someone did that to me. I was $20 short. -____-

  • @bobdafukinbuildr

your not the only one... i got hit with this too. $70 something short...just got a write up though

  • hmm so the scam start when the guy ask for the count just after the lady gave him the $10 note.. so he give short of $1 then add the $10 make it $20.. he still had a $10 inside his pocket.. clever guy...

  • People know about this now!? Aww man i lived my life off this.

  • Ähh???

But she counted the pounds before she give the money in note back...

    I don't still get it...

    Can anyone explain that???

  • I hope that those of you wanting to try this out realise that the cashier, who is probably stressed out and exhausted from being hounded by a ton of customers at once, could lose their job because you wanted to get your jollies out of being a shmuck.

  • This happend to someone at my work but it was 200 $ and it involved two people instead of one

  • i dont still get it lol

  • I guess it wouldn't work if the cashier counts the 9 dollars BEFORE handing him the 10 dollar note.

  • @1800simon1800 Yeah and most of the cashiers do that. So it wont work 100% sure, but if the cashier counts it u will just give he 1 more $ and everything its ok.and he wont notice that u tryed to scam he.

  • 0.0

  • This is an ingenious scam, but it's flaw is that you would have to repeat it MANY times to have a good profit, which would obviously increase your chances of getting caught

  • I just found my new job! This would work great on the stupid twat at burger king who keeps jacking up my order.....

  • Great, gunna practice this. Great way to make money!

  • i woudn try this with a smart guy

    he probly notice

  • Holy Crap!! I just got back for the liquor store and the trick actually works!!!!!!

  • I've heard the song in the background, but I can't think what it is...help?

  • Cahier lookout !

  • Haha it just snapped in my head. I get it. ima try this but i wanna up it 20 bucks haha

  • This won't work in the US :(

U darn Brits and your love of coins... The only coins we really use (commonly) here are lower value, highest generally being a quarter... I gues i can try this with a dollar lol...

  • @jusblaze99 this actually does work in the us! take in a 20 dollar bill and do the same thing put down 9 ones and ask for a 10 then put the 10 in your pocket and put enough money for a 20 out and ask for a 20 :D simple enough

  • this could work here in Canada since we instead of 1$ notes have 1$ and 2$ coins

  • This is the best example of this trick I've seen.

The fact that this one goes more in-depth makes it harder to catch.

    Great trick.

  • that was a bit much for a tenner

  • thats a sick scam.

  • I'd be pretty pissed if some random guy walked in and started using my till as a bank.

  • I've seen this before. You walk up to the cashier with the 20-note, place your order, and hand them a fiver.

The cashier has associated you with the 20-note you were holding, so they don't pay attention. They give you change for the 20-note.

  • this only work is she doesnt notic that it was £9

    oil dik

  • general rule: the till assistant needs to have not checked your 9pounds change before u r given the 10r.

if she checks yr change she will ask 4 the extra pound before u get that extra 10r

hope i have made things slightly clearer 4 some ppl

  • You could probably just say:

'Hey, could I get a tenner for this....'

and then wait until you have the tenner before giving them the shortchange...

  • oh lol nvm in dumb XD he gives the person her change back saying its his =P

  • so he walked into there with 30 pounds?

  • i have a new appreciation for algebra now xD

  • that was slick

  • even after u know how its done its still hard to understand lool

  • yeah unless the shop keep checks the change strait off like any fucken shop keeper

  • I caught it right away,

he has 20 dollars, gives her it for 20 dollars in change

    He still has twenty dollars.

He then gives her 9 dollars for a ten.

    He now has 21 dollars.

    He then gives 11 dollars for a twenty. (21-11 = 10..... 10 + 20 = 30)

    He now has 30 dollars.

    math: 20 - 20 = 0, 0 + 20 = 20, 20 - 9 = 11, 11 + 10 = 21, 21 - 11 = 10, 10 + 20 = 30.

  • the funniest thing is u think ur smart but u took all those steps to figure it out lol

  • I never said I was smart. Just thought it might be helpful to those who don't understand.

  • heres something u can do to help those who dont understand, stfu, and heres something u can do to help the people that do, S T F U ur not smart ur a fkin tool who pisses the shit out of the world we all hate ppl like u dont u fkin understand that?

stop tryin to explain every little thing like ur fkin hawkings i guarantee i'll shit all over u at maths, its what i basicaly do for a living, but honestly who gives a fk

  • Of course all mighty one, you're so much smarter then everyone else. You wouldn't be arrogant or anything, no, no, you're way to smart for that.

  • @imluvinyourmum Your a dickhead stop Ripping on people for no reason.... This guy did nothing wrong man :|

  • yeah imlovinyourmum stfu he didnt do anything bad

  • if u cant see what he did wrong, then ur one of him

  • Shut up pussy.

  • you do "maths" for a living? :|

  • I find using smaller amounts of money works the best, (depending on your nationality). You have to incorporate random amounts of change, if you include penny's, nickels, quartres, it works far better. Figure out your own way of doing this and you'll be on your way to thousands, I've been doing it for years.

  • or you can always use a 44 magnum! ..(just kidding , stealing is wrong unless you are part of the congress, the parliament or the senate anywhere in the world)

  • @CamiloSanchez1979 Lol, my government (USA) does steal half of our money and give it to freeloaders. So, while we work, bums sit on their butts, just waiting for our money to fall into their ruddy hands.

  • @CamiloSanchez1979

a senate is part of a congress.

  • your a freaking dousche because you ripped off an innocent old lady at least do it to a teen that gets on your nerves or something

  • they give it back after and the lady says stuff like "omg i didnt realise" if uve ever watched the program before. you douche.

  • @Vauket they gave it back

  • Comment removed

  • this is a tv show. they return the items once the filming is done. the whole point is to show people how people can scam so you can be aware incase it happen to you

  • WOW, I got fooled the first time when they just showed it, i was like "ok yeah big deal, he gave her 20 got 20 in change and then got back a 1 piece 20, wheres the scam 0.0"

    till they explained it

  • This is why you lay the $20 or $10 on top of the drawer while making change.

It's a simple sleight-of-hand trick. If you get caught though, most clerks will likely beat the shit out of you instead of calling the cops.

  • But u cant get caught...they have no proof ur cheating them. You could just play innocent and tell them u were just getting change...

  • well all you have to do is o wait, that bill is yours sorry, then give them the 10$ and you leave with your original money, no gain no lose

  • Only works when the retard hands over your change without counting it first

  • Brilliant. Took me a while to understand it, so I'm guessing a lot of people wouldn't get it at all. Still, I'm probably not going to try it anytime soon.

  • Shop money stays in the till or on it while you are working. Be mindful not to get the two mixed up. Perform ONE transaction at a time. Keep it simple stupid.

  • how far can you get away with this ?

  • Well, you couldn't.

  • This only works on stupid cashiers.

Most bartenders have a sawed off baseball bat or tire iron handy if you try this.

  • tried it on a super market but the gave it back to show them how they could get scam then they eventually gave me £10 for helping them

    True story

  • lol i did this earlier in the co-operative and spent the money on the train thanks anyway this worked :)

  • its only a scam if she gives him the 10 without counting the change.

  • SCAM ALERT!-Jeff Paul's program is a SCAM!

  • SCAM ALERT!

  • I work at a casino and people try to pull this shit all the time but we have training to prevent it i love it when people try to do this to me this girl pulls out a wad of ones crumbled up and says there is 25 there the min i count it she cant even look at me 18 bucks is what she gave me what a dirtball

  • hmmmmmmm

so il need twenty bucks ten in cash and ten in change then confuse the person and steal ten bucks is this even leagal

    the answer is

...........................YES.........................................its the shop keppers mestake so yes they must figure this out or its leagal if they don't know well they made a mistake

  • i wouldn't fucking give him the change if hes gonna take that long... i've got work to do

  • so in order for this to work...you have to successfully recieve the 10 pound note for the change...if you dont then you cant use it again on top of the 10 in change youve given her..

    = fail

  • OMG i just got back from the liqour store where i tried this and it totally worked... up yours jynx!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol i didnt say it wouldnt work! just under the circumstance i lined out it wouldnt...sheesh

  • I do not get it? it looks too me like he had £20 got £20 back in change then tried to change £10 lose change for another tenner. Loss to anyone. Guess if i was working in a shop i would fall for this coz its so confusing

  • watch when he gives her his 9 for her 10, when he gives her the missing 1 he also adds HER 10 that she just gave him, which is 20 plus the 10 in his pocket from before

  • you're american isn't it

  • it works ive been on the wrong end of this a few timez in bristol were i live and it come out of my wages. u work all day ur like a robot ur not paying attention cos your doing the same thing all day long just go to the most dippy looking charctor that was me in my shop.

  • idiot

  • ia the other customer guy really the camera guy?

  • interesting.

  • see, theres a much simpler way to do this

you ask for change, then, as soon as she opens the cash, you pull out a freaking gun. its a subtle but brilliant ruse that can be used anywhere, in any situation

  • this isnt shortchanging. lol. change title please

  • its confusing if you are stupid
