I've liked U2's music for a while now, but after listening to this, I wish I had more opportunities to listen to Bono talk about his views on God. His theology is closer to Christ's than 95% of "Christian" musicians. He reminds me a bit of the late Rich Mullins.

The bottom line is this: if drug addicts would used fresh needles and the non-monogamous "sexually active" would use condoms, aids would not exist. Simple behavioural changes. Period. Any money going to aids should be diverted to child vaccinations and child-hood diseases, especially in Africa (like River Blindness). Of course we want people to enjoy sex without condoms, but take care of the children FIRST!

I love the church and I'm not saying Bono is theologicly spot on but I do feel like he is addressing the questions correctly and even responding throught the leading of the Holy Spirit.

As an individual, washed clean by Christ's blood, healed of the afflictions of drug addiction, alcoholism, homosexuality, and, for the most part, HIV, I want to applaud Bono for his boldness in calling out the church on this topic. Bono is not addressing AIDS in Africa; he is referring to the AIDS patient that lives next door. You know, the one that got it from having sex with men, or using a dirty needle. This is where we, the church, have failed Jesus and His command for us to love!

The same steps to move away from using oil are required, so why not start sooner rather than later. I agree I can't see how a tax is going to promote using an alternative. I attended this session of GLS and listened carefully. I kept waiting for the acknowledgement that "the church" is & always has been VERY ahead of the curve, because the genuine church is subversive & necessarily must often be covert (even w/in building walls where the "church" sometimes gathers.)

How is her mouth gagged, her feet shackled, & her hands tied when she walks into the building or when she's under the oppression of an out-of-control, wasteful, fraud-infested...

What "the church" does is highly effective, but unseen, therefore, you judge that she's not been loving & LIVING out justice. She doesn't seek the microphone. Compassion International was ahead of the curve by virtue of having already connected resourced people w/ children in AIDS/HIV regions. It was very simple to add on specific initiatives for AIDS/HIV treatment to normal sponsorship. Effortless really. That was a wise & organic way to...

Im not trying to be a jerk here or legalistic, when Hybells preaches I want his sermons to last another hour,, I love the way he presents things! I just wish he wouldnt feel that he has to be a part of the world with interviews like this with a rock music celebrity or consulting Steven Spielberg whenever he makes a fim with a religous theme,,, are people really coming to Christ with these efforts.. I honestly dont know, but dont see my nieces picking up the Bible after watching a U2 video .
