War Powers Act, which requires a President to terminate the use of force after 90 days unless Congress has authorized it. The act became law after Congress overrode Nixon's veto, also congress need only cut of funding. The started a war with Iraq because there were WMDs, we gave Saddam 6 monthes to get rid of them, after the UN said that they weren't allowed to search for them. There were witnesses along the Syrian border who saw large Iraqi military convoys crossing over into Syria with WMDs on them. Not to mention Saddam's connection with the Merchant of Menace and al Qaida which is extensively documented.

In both you will find an extensive history between AQ Khan and Saddam Hussein. I agree that McCain would make a horrible president, but I'm not sure if he could actually be WORSE than Bush (unless he was going for some kind of record for the worst president ever). Govt control? No. But gov't has a legit role. I got a great public school education but can my daughter? That shouldn't depend on wealth. The govt can't control the environ, but corp's won't police themselves. We need some level of regulation. True, not overbearing or red tape for its own sake, but it's hugely important. gunguy, do you know why we have never seen anymore footage from the moonlanding since Armstrong? Hmmm...Try this, we infact couldnt get to the moon because of the strong magnetic force thats surrounds us and locks us in, maybe if you really do your homework you will find out that it was put there for that specific reason, and the footage was actually filmed in the dessert (shaddows and wind dont really work on the moon, try it...)

War Powers Act, which requires a President to terminate the use of force after 90 days unless Congress has authorized it. The act became law after Congress overrode Nixon's veto, also congress need only cut of funding. If funding was cut and bush kept our troops over there, there would be public outrage and bush would be impeached. Now ya know life is better when your in the know.

If you are in the know, you realize that Democrats controlled the House and Senate by much larger margins in 1973 than they do today. They have 49 seats today, plus 2 Independents who caucus with them. They would need 17 Republican votes to override Bush's veto.

Furthermore, the War Powers Act will do nothing to help in this situation because congess already authorized the use of force in Iraq. There is no way to rescind that authority over a Bush veto without picking up an additional 17 votes. And I disagree with your assertion that Bush would take the blame if the Democrats chose to simply cut off funding by refusing to pass any appropriations. In my opinions, such a move would be political suicide for the Democrats.

How is the federal government responsible for the failure of a state/city level government? How come every gulf coast city/town was able to brace for Katrina and minimize damages and New Orleans couldn't? Why is Bush to blame for all that? The started a war with Iraq because there were WMDs, we gave Saddam 6 monthes to get rid of them, after the UN said that they weren't allowed to search for them. There were witnesses along the Syrian border who saw large Iraqi military convoys crossing over into Syria with WMDs on them. Not to mention Saddam's connection with the Merchant of Menace and al Qaida which is extensively documented.

Aliof... it is actually your argument that is so shallow. Watch the documentary Confronting Iraq or check out the Feb 5 2005 edition of TIME magazine. In both you will find an extensive history between AQ Khan and Saddam Hussein. Khan is known as the merchant of menace, the worlds largest nuclear trafficker and has been seen many times (by Iraqi eyewitnesses) on the Syria/Iraq border since the war started.

You may be looking at moyer's reports, i'm looking at eyewitness reports, which, I think trump anything you guys have brought to the table yet. As eloquent as you are, I'm going to have to disagree. Al Qaeda is a terrorist organization w/no moral ground to stand on. W is very misguided and, despite his rhetoric, playing into their hands (they now have a country in which to operate and more sympathizers than ever.) But criticizing U.S. policy is by no means a justification of or an excuse for the disastrous human beings that are Al Qaeda. Oh yeah, and to your point, fuck fuck fuck fuck.

I don't think Bush really did anything that bad. We were doomed to go to Iraq from the get-go, just look at the bipartisan vote for it that congress made. The only partisan topic is 'get out' or 'stay in'. I think Democrats quickly realized after taking power that we can't just 'pull out' as they had promised to us before the elections. Bush has little to do with any of it.

While 300x more articulate and decorated than Dubya, McCain invented the "surge" and has defended continuing the Iraq war in spite of reality and 60+% of the American people. I agree that McCain would make a horrible president, but I'm not sure if he could actually be WORSE than Bush (unless he was going for some kind of record for the worst president ever). Carter, on the other hand, was a great president. Things didn't exactly go his way and I did disagree with some of his decisions, but philosophically he was admirable.

Our country really needs to wake up to the way in which Bush repeatedly misleads us away from our rights. When Bush was governor here he tried to not only make interacial adoption illegal, he wanted to undo the adoptions that had taken place!

The Al-Qaeda connection was the 2nd reason for invading Iraq, the 1st being WMDs -both were wrong. By accusing Iraq of links with Al-Qeada Bush was basically implying they were part of 9/11, its called guilt by association. He didnt have to say it he just simply implied it, and it was enough to manipulate the masses.
