Oh man that huge make gives me the chills. I caught one like that the other day. It was 18 inches and 3 lb 7 oz. Those are some beautiful and healthy looking fish. I am hypnotized by the colors! Sweet feeding frenzy you started there. It reminds me of when I put shiners in front of a hungry peacock bass face!
They are originally South American bass that exist throughout the Amazon and several bodies of water. Their scientific name is Cichla ocellaris. These are probably captive bred.
