No penalty either for the forbidden hidden software that enabled the use of traction and launch control. All Benetton got was $100k fine for sending the engine management system to the FIA 3 weeks late. A bigger farce than the AUS GP crash is that Benetton got away with a car that had hidden software that enabled the use of illegal driver aids.

I think it was a race incident. It's sad this determined the championchip, but to be fair Schumacher deserved to be the 1994 world champion. From the eight race on FIA was doing strange decisions which make me feel that they wanted to make the season more interesting, because MSC had 66 pts after seven races and second Hill only 29. Questionable FIA decisions in British GP where MSC finished 2nd, fair dsq after winning in Spa, but how about ban from the next to races?!, both of them won by Hill.

Senna's was an act of retribution as (in his eyes) Prost had done exactly the same to him in the previous year at Suzuka. Senna had also requested that pole position be on the clean racing line which had initially been accepted only for FIA president Jean Marie Balestre (who did not get on with Senna at all) to overall the decision and leave Senna starting on the dirty side of the track. Schumacher's was spur of the moment dirty driving to win at any cost after he'd been insulting Hill.

Every great driving skill has a dark side, we saw Vettels darkside in turkey last season(2010) Senna in Japan against Prost, Schumacher here and Jerez 1997, and monaco few years ago.
Schumacher lost it going into the corner, came back on and obviously didn't see Hill coming up the inside. You can't claim Schumacher cheated because he ran into him, because if you look at the onboard footage of Hill's car, Hill would have had a small chance of pulling off a clean move in the first place.

When Schu rejoined the track, Hill initially tried to take him on the outside, but Schu cut him off and Hill had to lift and then tried the inside. I'm not gonna say whether or not this was deliberate (you will never know) but all I will say is this:
Prost: Drove into Senna for the title in 1989 = legend
Senna: Pushed off Prost in 1990 for the title (and later admitted doing so for revenge in 1989) = legend
Schumacher: Apparently drove into Hill while taking the racing line through a corner in a car WITHOUT mirrors = scum of the earth/dirty cheater

I think it was a race incident. It's sad this determined the championchip, but to be fair Schumacher deserved to be the 1994 world champion. From the eight race on FIA was doing strange decisions which make me feel that they wanted to make the season more interesting, because MSC had 66 pts after seven races and second Hill only 29. Questionable FIA decisions in British GP where MSC finished 2nd, fair dsq after winning in Spa, but how about ban from the next to races?!, both of them won by Hill.

Based on this one incident, he shouldn't have been able to keep it though, if the FIA hadn't already meddled in his championship by handing him lame penalties because they were too scared to come out and say he clearly had Traction control on his car that year, so they kept inventing reasons to penalise him.
For me I'd take the 94 and 97 titles off him but that still leaves an amazing legacy.

Senna's was an act of retribution as (in his eyes) Prost had done exactly the same to him in the previous year at Suzuka. Senna had also requested that pole position be on the clean racing line which had initially been accepted only for FIA president Jean Marie Balestre (who did not get on with Senna at all) to overall the decision and leave Senna starting on the dirty side of the track. Schumacher's was spur of the moment dirty driving to win at any cost after he'd been insulting Hill.

Senna Won the 90 championship with a collision with Prost. True. But it would have not happened if he had won the 89 championship. Senna did deserve his 3 championships. Schumacher in 94 hit Hill purposely . Hill never did anything to him (except being better and not having a ilegal car). Schumacher won his 1995,2000 and 2003 championships fairly. 1994, 2001, 2002 and 2004 were robbed . Schumacher also had the better car in the 00's. And his teammates were obligated through team orders

When Senna and Prost did something like this for two seasons nobody was complaining. I think every single one of tover 6 billion people(Hill included) would close down the other car in the same scenario, Hill had the choice to wait for a turn and then pass... Anyway, Schumi has 7 titles to his name and I find it amazing people have the nerve to accuse someone with that many titles of being a cheat or a bad driver. In '97 he did a bad thing and was punished in '94 he did not and he won a title

This is the dark side of a very good Driver, everybody remembers the good stuff from Senna, but he had a very dark side to. Every great driving skill has a dark side, we saw Vettels darkside in turkey last season(2010) Senna in Japan against Prost, Schumacher here and Jerez 1997, and monaco few years ago.

Schumacher lost it going into the corner, came back on and obviously didn't see Hill coming up the inside. You can't claim Schumacher cheated because he ran into him, because if you look at the onboard footage of Hill's car, Hill would have had a small chance of pulling off a clean move in the first place.

Even if he did drive into Hill and Villenueve, at least he's fighting for the championship, to win Formula 1 you have to fight for it, not give your opponent one inch, Senna did that and yet not many people claimed him to cheat. (BTW Senna's the best)

Damon Hill tried to pass on the left side, where Schumacher was going, so Schumacher turned to the right to give way for Damon Hill. But this id... also turned right and crashed into Schumacher. Damon was too dumn to win the world championship that year, what is reserved for real champions.

When Schu rejoined the track, Hill initially tried to take him on the outside, but Schu cut him off and Hill had to lift and then tried the inside. Had he gone to the inside line right away he would have been the first to the corner and this crash wouldnt have happened,. I was a Hill fan, but I don't blame Schumi on this one, as there really wasnt any room for Damon to go to.

@rananim3 exactly, although Schumacher, Senna and Fangio shouldn't be compared as it wasn't the same driving a F1 car in the 1950s and in the 1990s (almost 40 years of difference, there wasn't traction assist and the technology wasn't the same), if Senna hadn't died at Imola he would have won more titles than he did and Schumacher was the only driver to get to 21st century in F1 when he won 4 of his 7 titles (2001; 2002; 2003 and 2004)!

Italy 1995 - Hill rammed into the back of schumacher, taking them both out of the race -- didn't mention that one did ya. Btw, Schumacher had the racing line and was in front of Hill. Hill could've backed off, but refused to and paid the price.
