  • As a fellow Cajun with Acadian ancestors, I understand your point of view. You are absolutely correct. There were French people in Louisiana prior to the Acadian Exile which is mentioned by a professor of Francophone studies in the documentary. Our goal is to bring attention to the fact that certain aspects of the culture are fading. Since the goal of the documentary is to inform the general public about this condition, we chose to have it in English although French is spoken numerous times.

  • On y'all's facebook page y'all have this written: This film tracks the original French descendents of South Louisiana from France to Nova Scotia where they became Acadians.

    Um, there were already many French people in South Louisiana whenever the Acadians came.

    In addition, I strongly hope that this is filmed in Louisiana French with English subtitles. If not, it's hypocritical to call this "The Fading Cajun Culture" when it's in the language of those who are making our culture "fade".
