Oh, nonchalant racism! When will you ever get not-funny?
Also, I like the complete dismissal of the Luddite argument. "Yes, your grandfather lost his job making wagons but look on the bright side: he's 40 years old, needs to relearn an entirely new industry, and is saddled with a much higher financial burden than a young kid who is being paid the same wage. He'll surely get a new job better than the old one!"
Joe is a member of a good union this is why his wages are so high. Nowadays, Joe's grandchildren don't belong to a union. They are making chump change flipping burgers.
Here is the thing with modern capitalism. When capital is invested in other countries i.e. China, India, and wherever else for cheaper labor costs, environmental waste, and lower tariffs/trade barriers, AND it is done at the same quality as it would be done in the U.S., then why invest capital in the U.S? WHY? It amazes me how people praise capitalism when it benefits them, and condemn it when it benefits people from another country. Americans can hava, and everyone else in the world cant?
Americans have less time off than workers anywhere else. We may have cheaper access to consumer goods, but we have less access to healthcare and education than workers in the rest of the developed world.
Hilarious that the video compares a communist Chinese worker not having the trains and other capital tools that Americans have. Now China has better machines and faster trains.
Nice video, explains well the good side of capitalism. Though, they shouldn't be proud saying that being the 7% of population, they have the 50% of an item. That's the bad side of capitalism
"The Industrial Capital Of The World." Maybe for ARMAMENTS, but for high-end goods and machine equipment, it's Europe, Japan and Korea. For software, India. For consumer goods, CHINA. And that "coolie?" HIS GRANDKIDS LIVE IN LUXURY CONDOS IN BEIJING AND TRAVEL BY HIGH SPEED TRAINS.
There's a core of truth to this propaganda but regardless of the principles of capitalism our current system is completely out of whack. The announcer states that capitalism divides the money over as wide a number of people as possible so there can be no tyrannical influences. Maybe that was true in the 50s but today a very very small number of people control the vast majority of the wealth.
yes the top 10% controll 80% of money but they also pay 80% of our nations taxes, plus capitalism causes the standaard ofliving tobehigher for all, you don't hear about the millions of people who starve in america because we make foodcheap to produce and consume
No they're not. And no, it doesn't. Capitalism is not the cause for our higher standard of living- We have a higher standard in general because we exploit other nations for their produce. Even then, most of this exploitation benefits the wealthy, while the workers recieve the trickle down. So, while yes, we do have more than some countries, it's because we're fucking the other countries in the ass to get it instead of working toward equality.
That's rather deplorable, don't you think, that we need to make ourselves feel better about our exploitation by saying that it improves their lives? Sure, and slavery brought black people who had been living in clay huts into stable conditions with wooden shelter. What I'm saying is, it is possible for all of us to have more. Our exploitation of a poor country is not to help them improve, but to exploit them. Their improvement is a byproduct that is entirely unintended.
@AnonymousBAD I didn't say what I said to make myself feel better, I said it because it's a fact. The great thing about capitalism is that nobody has to act out of a feeling of guilt; nobody has to intend to improve the lot of any individual. The improvement is a byproduct. But it is improvement. Meanwhile communism intends to help people (corrupt dictators notwithstanding) but the byproduct is misery and starvation.
There you are wrong. Exploitation is exploitation. We could, with Communism and Equality, make all people equal and free. Instead, we practically enslave these people. We are actively exploiting these people. The fact that it benefits them more than not is irrelevant and convoluted, like saying a rape victim who wins the court case is helped by the rapist because the won the case- true, they did, but they'd be better off not raped in the first place.
@ChristopherWEarl What part of wage slavery is voluntary? I suppose you have the freedom to choose to work at Kmart or Walmart, but that's hardly freedom.
yes unions are good for workers, but they can also be bad for example the city unions in chicago refused pay cuts thus 1000+ lost there jobs . it's a double edged sword but it works better then government
The initial goal for unions were to prevent workers from being exploited by their employers and to provide for them legal help. Because of Unions; the standard of work has improved.
Michigan was hit hard because it was one of the biggest automobile manufacturers in the U.S. The majority of job loss came from failing manufacturers and any jobs related.
Yes, some unions result in exploiting the employer but without Unions, workers would practically become slaves.
1) japan is capitolistjust like us and they want to make money too.
2) European countries paid vacatoin requirementscuse in slowed productn of goods thus lower REAL pay forworkers and manufactoring jobs biengsent abroad to countries like Turkey and Poland.
3) europeans eat healther than we do plus theirfood is much more expensive, plus they don"t have as many guns, andmot new medical proceduresare devloped in America becuse we have an incentive to make money of our meds,
4)yes but those productsare paid for with the money we made from making more expensive products and and performing services.
5) The U.S.A. isstill the bigist producer of stuff in the world.
6) if their is a market for shuch things then the private sector will invest in it, I have invested in wind farm in western illinois, but Idon't think the government should be forcing our money on things we don't want to buy into in the first place, becauseit often produces too much waste for no $.
kubaniski ... Your lack of political knowledge is quite apparent.
China surpasses the USA in product manufacturing. We used to be the leader of all industrialized countries ... BUT NO MORE.
President Obama promised to rebuild our manufacturing base and tried to bring back some of the millions jobs that Big Corporations exported overseas or give incentives to Corporations to keep US jobs here.
Your comment makes no sense. It's nothing more than ranting with no meaningful coherence
China produces produces more products per ton but the USA produces more things in dollar value(look it up). plus the companies that send jobs over seas also hire more people in the US.
Disprove me if you can, unless you can't do anything more then get pissy and tell me i'm wrong because i diagree with you, give a few counterpoints. You'll find that the statements I have made are true, if you ever bother to look them up you would know that.
The federal reserve is a privately owned corporation (rothschild, rockefeller, getty, guenheim, families etc.) It prints and owns the money supply. They play with the president and congress like puppets because they own them. The surplus of commodity is due to the necessity of the market to sustain a high gross profit for the secondary bankers who compose wall street. When the debt of the securities market inevitably far surpasses that of consumable commodities, there is catastophic failure. NOW
The "coolies" built that god damned railroad that made the conductor so rich in the first place. The American way is truly superior: enslave others to do the job and reap all the benefits in the form of toys.
Don't forget the Irish "Coolies". They just found a mass grave of Irish Coolies outside of Philly, seems that Typhus flew through their camp. Conditions weren't exactly 5 star there.
That's true, China is in many ways more capitalist than the U.S. now -- it all started going downhill after President Coolidge, one of my favorite presidents.
