  • the american way= keeping the Rich Rich and the poor poor

  • I don't think they were trying to be racist with the chinese guy, people were just more ignorant of other cultures back then.

  • Sure, its just that now everything is made in China.

  • Oh, nonchalant racism! When will you ever get not-funny?

Also, I like the complete dismissal of the Luddite argument. "Yes, your grandfather lost his job making wagons but look on the bright side: he's 40 years old, needs to relearn an entirely new industry, and is saddled with a much higher financial burden than a young kid who is being paid the same wage. He'll surely get a new job better than the old one!"

  • racist much?

  • Joe is a member of a good union this is why his wages are so high. Nowadays, Joe's grandchildren don't belong to a union. They are making chump change flipping burgers.

  • What makes it possible for joe to earn such good living? Hmm...could it be the minimum wage that socialists fought for?

OH! MY BACK! And I hope you can afford health insurance on your own buddy!

  • What makes it possible for joe to earn such good living? Hmm...could it be the minimum wage that socialists fought for?

  • Here is the thing with modern capitalism. When capital is invested in other countries i.e. China, India, and wherever else for cheaper labor costs, environmental waste, and lower tariffs/trade barriers, AND it is done at the same quality as it would be done in the U.S., then why invest capital in the U.S? WHY? It amazes me how people praise capitalism when it benefits them, and condemn it when it benefits people from another country. Americans can hava, and everyone else in the world cant?

  • God this place is becoming a shit whole now poor Joe has no factory to work in hes probably thinking wtf

  • The American: King of the Workers of the World!

Maybe that was true back when we still had industry and industrial unions!

  • Americans have less time off than workers anywhere else. We may have cheaper access to consumer goods, but we have less access to healthcare and education than workers in the rest of the developed world.

Hilarious that the video compares a communist Chinese worker not having the trains and other capital tools that Americans have. Now China has better machines and faster trains.

  • The poor people who don't contribute have to be hillbillies.

  • Nice video, explains well the good side of capitalism. Though, they shouldn't be proud saying that being the 7% of population, they have the 50% of an item. That's the bad side of capitalism

  • @rolingpingu why?

  • @rolingpingu why is it bad?

  • Christian121y

Yes, too much is not enough, is it.

  • "The Industrial Capital Of The World." Maybe for ARMAMENTS, but for high-end goods and machine equipment, it's Europe, Japan and Korea. For software, India. For consumer goods, CHINA. And that "coolie?" HIS GRANDKIDS LIVE IN LUXURY CONDOS IN BEIJING AND TRAVEL BY HIGH SPEED TRAINS.

  • Have fun getting that back pain treated by the American Way of Healthcare

  • @altosax1st ohh no!!! i get paid leave from work for a week, and have to go get massages.

  • There's a core of truth to this propaganda but regardless of the principles of capitalism our current system is completely out of whack. The announcer states that capitalism divides the money over as wide a number of people as possible so there can be no tyrannical influences. Maybe that was true in the 50s but today a very very small number of people control the vast majority of the wealth.

  • Materialistic nonsense. I laugh at the U.S. By the way, the bill of obligated shopping is more like it.

  • Ha Ha in China there is no money for investment while now they own us!

  • Ha Ha in China there is no money for investment while now they own us!

  • I think the one of the problems with the current economy is that we are moving away from being an industrial power.

  • I just read Das Kapital and it is funny how he talks about all of this.

  • BWAHAHAHA! Most of the capital goes to the workers! The percentage is 80% of the wealth is owned by 10% of the population. That's hardly "Most".

  • yes the top 10% controll 80% of money but they also pay 80% of our nations taxes, plus capitalism causes the standaard ofliving tobehigher for all, you don't hear about the millions of people who starve in america because we make foodcheap to produce and consume

  • No they're not. And no, it doesn't. Capitalism is not the cause for our higher standard of living- We have a higher standard in general because we exploit other nations for their produce. Even then, most of this exploitation benefits the wealthy, while the workers recieve the trickle down. So, while yes, we do have more than some countries, it's because we're fucking the other countries in the ass to get it instead of working toward equality.

  • @AnonymousBAD The quality of life in China is improving thanks to our "exploitation."

  • @ChristopherWEarl

That's rather deplorable, don't you think, that we need to make ourselves feel better about our exploitation by saying that it improves their lives? Sure, and slavery brought black people who had been living in clay huts into stable conditions with wooden shelter. What I'm saying is, it is possible for all of us to have more. Our exploitation of a poor country is not to help them improve, but to exploit them. Their improvement is a byproduct that is entirely unintended.

  • @AnonymousBAD I didn't say what I said to make myself feel better, I said it because it's a fact. The great thing about capitalism is that nobody has to act out of a feeling of guilt; nobody has to intend to improve the lot of any individual. The improvement is a byproduct. But it is improvement. Meanwhile communism intends to help people (corrupt dictators notwithstanding) but the byproduct is misery and starvation.

  • @ChristopherWEarl

There you are wrong. Exploitation is exploitation. We could, with Communism and Equality, make all people equal and free. Instead, we practically enslave these people. We are actively exploiting these people. The fact that it benefits them more than not is irrelevant and convoluted, like saying a rape victim who wins the court case is helped by the rapist because the won the case- true, they did, but they'd be better off not raped in the first place.

  • @AnonymousBAD seek to create a collective of one out of each person in society

  • @AnonymousBAD What a terrible comparison. You're calling voluntary action exploitation and communism freedom. What nonsense.

  • @ChristopherWEarl What part of wage slavery is voluntary? I suppose you have the freedom to choose to work at Kmart or Walmart, but that's hardly freedom.

Communism is equality. Equality is freedom.

  • Unions cause the standards of lives to be higher. Without Unions or protests, we would all be working 12 hour+ shifts without any benefits.

  • yes unions are good for workers, but they can also be bad for example the city unions in chicago refused pay cuts thus 1000+ lost there jobs . it's a double edged sword but it works better then government

  • If that's true how come states with the highest rate of union also have the highest rate of unemployment like Michigan.

Unions make it harder for business to expand and higher more people.

Companies that have Unions are far more likely to go bankruped.

  • The initial goal for unions were to prevent workers from being exploited by their employers and to provide for them legal help. Because of Unions; the standard of work has improved.

Michigan was hit hard because it was one of the biggest automobile manufacturers in the U.S. The majority of job loss came from failing manufacturers and any jobs related.

Yes, some unions result in exploiting the employer but without Unions, workers would practically become slaves.

  • Japan's High Speed Internet is cheaper & 20 X faster that US internet ...AND WE INVENTED THE DARN THING!!

European countries have MORE PAID VACATION each year, than Americans.

They all have UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE, are in better health, are better educated and they LIVE LONGER than we do.

More products for the American consumers are made in foreign countries than are made here.

    MADE IN USA ...?????

President Obama said we MUST rebuild our INDUSTRIAL BASE with GREEN TECHNOLOGY.

  • 1) japan is capitolistjust like us and they want to make money too.

    2) European countries paid vacatoin requirementscuse in slowed productn of goods thus lower REAL pay forworkers and manufactoring jobs biengsent abroad to countries like Turkey and Poland.

    3) europeans eat healther than we do plus theirfood is much more expensive, plus they don"t have as many guns, andmot new medical proceduresare devloped in America becuse we have an incentive to make money of our meds,

  • 4)yes but those productsare paid for with the money we made from making more expensive products and and performing services.

    5) The U.S.A. isstill the bigist producer of stuff in the world.

    6) if their is a market for shuch things then the private sector will invest in it, I have invested in wind farm in western illinois, but Idon't think the government should be forcing our money on things we don't want to buy into in the first place, becauseit often produces too much waste for no $.

  • kubaniski ... Your lack of political knowledge is quite apparent.

China surpasses the USA in product manufacturing. We used to be the leader of all industrialized countries ... BUT NO MORE.

President Obama promised to rebuild our manufacturing base and tried to bring back some of the millions jobs that Big Corporations exported overseas or give incentives to Corporations to keep US jobs here.

Your comment makes no sense. It's nothing more than ranting with no meaningful coherence

  • It isn't a political issueits an economic issue

China produces produces more products per ton but the USA produces more things in dollar value(look it up). plus the companies that send jobs over seas also hire more people in the US.

  • kubandstinki... I have to give you an "F" for Failure.

YOU'RE WRONG ON ALL POINTS !!

Sorry. Try again. Better yet ... read a book and educate yourself.

  • Disprove me if you can, unless you can't do anything more then get pissy and tell me i'm wrong because i diagree with you, give a few counterpoints. You'll find that the statements I have made are true, if you ever bother to look them up you would know that.

  • kubanski ... To disprove every single false points you made ... I suggest you go view"

Youtube Video Title: Dear Teabaggers, Where were you?

Know the irrefutable facts ... no lies, no spin, no misinformation ... F-A-C-T-S !!

  • were are these facts of yours? because the facts thought to me at UIC support my arguments

  • kubaniski ... Then I guess you must have been sleeping during these classes at UIC.

  • i graduated cum laude

  • kubaniski..."I graduated cum laude"...

Ha! Ha! Ha! GOOD ONE !!

You write and spell like a third grader ... cum laude ... STOP IT !! ... it hurts when I laugh too hard. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

  • ohh no a foreginer dosen't use proprer grammer, besides english is over rated, German is much more consice

  • @librophile Reading books doesn't help if you read the wrong books. The publishing of an opinion does not make it fact.

  • That's because China, artificially, keeps the cost of their products low. They do this so they could earn buyers.

  • Old Cartoons are great. :)

  • Joe sounds like Joe Pesci, but I bet was already said.

  • Boy! GM, Chrysler and Ford should watch this movie! :D

  • The federal reserve is a privately owned corporation (rothschild, rockefeller, getty, guenheim, families etc.) It prints and owns the money supply. They play with the president and congress like puppets because they own them. The surplus of commodity is due to the necessity of the market to sustain a high gross profit for the secondary bankers who compose wall street. When the debt of the securities market inevitably far surpasses that of consumable commodities, there is catastophic failure. NOW

  • The "coolies" built that god damned railroad that made the conductor so rich in the first place. The American way is truly superior: enslave others to do the job and reap all the benefits in the form of toys.

  • Don't forget the Irish "Coolies". They just found a mass grave of Irish Coolies outside of Philly, seems that Typhus flew through their camp. Conditions weren't exactly 5 star there.

  • "The Industrial Capital Of The World." Maybe in 1950, but we manufacture almost NOTHING of substance anymore. So much for the American dream.

  • That's true, China is in many ways more capitalist than the U.S. now -- it all started going downhill after President Coolidge, one of my favorite presidents.

  • @stars1861 And yet because of the post-industrial society we're now in,we're currently the OFFICE SPACE capital of the world. This is social evolution like it or not,it sure ain't as sexy but hey it's progress.

  • @stars1861 correct this is anti communist but funny now all of our american consumer products come from a communist country

  • I love these cartoons. Their illustrative style is truly a cultural relic.

It probably would've been more accurate if they included services with the goods Joe can buy, but this was before the immense service sector boom, I think.

And FYI, faux wise-asses, the point isn't that Joe's king because he can buy useless crap, but that his labor is rewarded such that he is rewarded with so many options unavailable to his ancestors. Products are just a simple mechanism to communicate that idea.

  • If only Democrats and Republicans worked together.. then id probably be able to find a job.

  • Unfortunately "STUFF" can't make you happy...

  • VOW! VE CAN BUY USELESS SHIT! ZAT MAKES US ZE MAAAHSTAH KOUNTRIE!!! lmfao this video is full of utter Bullshit. I LOVE America! It's the Capitalist System & the Consumer Mentality I cant stand!!

  • "Joe is the king because he can buy more with his wages than any other worker in the world."

Already you have the consumer society where happiness is defined as buying more stuff.

  • @randall2020 No, there is the ability and freedom to buy more stuff. It is the freedom that is important. Responsibility comes into play when deciding what to do with it.

  • @randall2020 The ability to buy more goods than your fellow man shouldn't be the definition of happiness. But it sure as hell is a nice barometer for it,wouldn't you, say?

Freedom from Want is a beautiful thing.

  • @randall2020 Yes, people tend to be happier when they can buy things that make their life easier so they have time to do things like play with their kids or read or go on the internet to watch videos. You can be happy without these things, but it's always nice to have that option open.
