@ the Line 6 bashers.. what ignorant statements... while higher end Marshalls, Mesas, Bogners, etc are EXCELLENT amps.. they are NOT the end all be all of the amp world. Especially when it comes to cleans. The newer Line 6 models do a superb (and almost unrecognizable job if using as a recording interface) at imitating these classic and iconic tones. I myself have a Hughes & Kettner Triamp but having played through line 6 gear in the past... there's NO way I count not recommend a Line 6 amp.....
I'm wondering if you use effects as well,.. I use a zakk wylde version of the jcm800, and originally I hated it because there just wasn't enough gain at all, but I started using a DS-1 and a metal zone and it's a totally different amp now!!
yeah my dad lied to me and said that a shitty line 6 amp cost more than a marshall jcm 800 and got me thae line 6 it sounds like digital fucking shit i'll never forgive him.
I appreciate that you did actually play chords/memorable rifs...I really hate watching these demo videos where all people do is solo. Most of the time playing in a band you will be playing chords, which for whatever reason people avoid like the plague in these kinds of videos.
you do not yet have the ear to tell apart tone, the more amps you listen to the more differences you'll notice..every guitarist has their specific tone, unless they're trying to copy a tone or just don't care. Marshalls are probably the most popular amps out there, so don't be surprised when people sound alike
@jensthebrix Now now, Line 6's are fine, practice amps, but nothing more. I have a Spider III and it actually served pretty well for a few shows. But now I have an '85 2204 and can hardly bring myself to plug into the Spider :D
@DemirGuitar94 no a one channel amp mean. Lower volume and lower gain give you a clean sound until you start to crank it a bit with the controls and you will get a fucking awesome distortion and yes this is a one channel amp
@DemirGuitar94 u got pre amp voume and master volume. crank the pre amp up and u get distortion but doesnt affect the actuall volume. Ive had mine for a couple of days now and havent been able to crank to even ONE ! in the house, its just too dam louud lool but the more master voume u add i wud imagine ud get more distortion from cranking tht too. Also theres 2 inputs on it, high sensitivity and low sensitivity. stick it in low if u wnt a nice clean sound stick it in high if u want some crunch.
I'am having thoughts of buying an Marshall 50 watt tube amp, with a 4x12 cab, i would like to obtain mostly a classic warm Marshall sound, i play mostly classic hardrock style like AC/DC, some Gary moore , Blues and a bit more, but mostly AC/DC, is there any amp that people here can recommend?
I can't afford to expensive amps like 1987x or ''Hendrix'' 59SLP amps, but i would want a similar sound to 1987x if there's an amp with similar sound,Tube + 4x12 and 50 watt is requirement for all amps.
have you looked at marshall clones? metro amp can send you a kit with evrything included to put together your own plexi, from whichever era you choose. you choose the tube types, filter caps, even color of the amp. or for a few hundred more theyll build it for you. a lot of people say theyre better copies of the original than even the marshall reissues, and these are all handbuilt, handwired, and awesome. they run around $1000 (unbuilt) to $1500 (prebuilt). you should look into one.
hello im getting a new amp either a jcm 800 900 2000 or vox ac 30 i really wanna get a nice brown sound like van halen and tight overdrive like guns n roses , kiss and ozzy ousbourne but i will also need to clean up the sound to get a jimi hendrix or pink floyd tone which amp should i get and those the jcm 800 take pedals well because it has no fx loop thanks give me opinions .
@12345678ix Well, the one he is playing is a reissue, and it contains an effects loop (i got an reissue aswell), so that wont be the problem. When you put on clean you wont get 100% clean fender/vox clean, but you can have it almost 100% clean :)
Do NOT pick JCM900, as they stop working, way more often :) Jcm2000 DSL100 is an option aswell.
With the amps you wrote, definately pick JCM800 or the Vox AC30CC2X. Depends on where you're going to play.
hey...this might be a pretty dunb question buy i just reasenmtlly started with the guitar, amps an shit...i've heard a lot of stuff about the jcm 800 but i haven't actually seen a gain nob on the amp head....how do you get the gain on that amp??
i always loved how the Marshall JCM 800 sounded.... it kicked the 900 and 2000's ass anyday. it's just got that raunchy ass growl about it, i previously owned a Marshall JCM 900 thinking i would get that 800 sound just because it was Marshall....but quickly found out different.... also can't stand these guys that use a JCM 800 head and run 20,000 effects boxes through it, totally kills the tone of the head
@wowspare Its the part of Dr. Feelgood it sounds like right after the cleen when it turnes back to distortion and then obviously it leads into Bark at the Moon.
@wowspare the classic 3 chord rock n roll... between 1074 and 1980 AC/DC used these 3 chords in almost all of their song. but dont get me wrong.. i love AC/DC!!!
I'm trying to find my own sound, hopefully with a Marshall, but I wanted it to kinda be like Eddie Van Halen's brown sound, and when you started playing Ain't Talkin Bout Love, I was sold! Thanks!
@guitar6270 JCM 800 but it depends on the cetrian slash tone ur looking for. On the recording of AFD slash used a modded 1959slp and for the later era of GNR i believe used a JCM800. If ur looking for a Velvet Revolver slash tone than I would get a Vintage Modern
@cichowina Iron Maiden originally played on Marshall Plexis, which had even less gain. But the thing is, to get a good sound from a JCM, you must put it at verry high volumes, around 7-8 on the master. So you should not worry about, like, hearing impairment, and your neighbours.
@fritosofdoritos for the head. cabs dont seem like they have dropped as much. not sure why, but heads that were 1200 last year are 500 to 800 sometimes. used of course but that dosent bother me.. I traded an orange tiny terror for a '97 plexi reissue in good shape. the terror was 500 new and the 112 cab was 300...so thats a descent deal. then i made a 212 speaker cab for 250 bucks, materials plus speakers.. avatar is a good place to get celestions.
@fritosofdoritos you're not going to get this kind of tone for $500 or less. This is a tube amp and tube amps are expensive. This particular amp (Marshall JCM 800) runs for about $2300 new, but you can find an older one that is used for about $800-$1200
@Danijel06101:20 and forward is crazy train by ozzy osbourn mann O: 1:42 and forward sounds like something improvised, but i could very well be wrongg
i have a jcm 800. i play live at about 4/5, and its loud as fuck, but the sound thickens up. presents 0, bass 6, middle 6, treble 4, pre 10, master 4/5
@markyellowseries3 thanks for those settings! not what I used at all =P Im using a Vox at home, it seems Marshall needs very different settings to sound awesome.
@marcusmarkmus Thinner than this? You were probably playing a 2205 then, that one sounds thinner than the other 800s. Because the JCM 800 is the fattest, roundest sounding amp I have ever heard. I have a 2204, and it sounds really round, just wish it had as much gain as this one.
i heard these amps were awesome. i heard one video and im like fuck this shit im buying the dsl... then i heard your video. turns out, some people's settings sound like shit. so how much would the cheapest marshall jcm 800 cost???
i never bought the dsl. i bought a solid state without playing a tube head. so i returned my solid state and im figuring out how to get to buy this beast
@BloodRiver08 Look on ebay, I seen one for £300 but it had a few marks and chips but it was in full working order. Personally, I really don't care what state amps get into, I just care about there sound.
Depends if you're willing to take one beat with some holes in it budget for around 600. Want one pure and non modded 800-1000. I recently traded my DSL for a 2204 which is the 50 version.
Hey man , can ya tell us what are you using more to have these sound ?

i have a jcm 800. i play live at about 4/5, and its loud as fuck, but the sound thickens up. presents 0, bass 6, middle 6, treble 4, pre 10, master 4/5

@markyellowseries3 thanks for those settings! not what I used at all =P Im using a Vox at home, it seems Marshall needs very different settings to sound awesome.

@markyellowseries3 The presence control also drives the power section

how loud are you playing? Ive tried it but only with master volume at 2 or 3 or something. Sounded alot thinner than this..

@BloodRiver08 Look on ebay, I seen one for £300 but it had a few marks and chips but it was in full working order. Personally, I really don't care what state amps get into, I just care about there sound.
Guitars buy brand new.
Amps buy second hand.

Depends if you're willing to take one beat with some holes in it budget for around 600. Want one pure and non modded 800-1000. I recently traded my DSL for a 2204 which is the 50 version.
