  • Guran is the best. But then again Bagha is the best. Then you have to of course consider Buvan.... and Tipu. Well I can't decide but this movie rocks.

  • TROLLED BY THE CLOUDS. Mad, bro?

  • A beautiful moive that should have won the Oscars for best foreign film! This was so much more derserving of an Oscar than Slumdog Millionaire.

  • MEMORIES! I have yet to see a bad amir khan movie!

  • this is when bollywood was good i didnt understand one bit but had to read with subtitiles one of the best films i have ever ever seen

  • Who thinks that the singing drove away the clouds?

  • all that dancing and the rain didnt even come...

  • nice song

  • Goodness, it's just RAIN and yet that is already enough to make them break out into song and dance!

  • @Aviator1510 isnt it kinda obvious that they're farmers and that they had a drought?

    rain = food = survival.

  • @Aviator1510 it only rains at one time during the year there and even then sometimes it doesnt at all in that area of India.

  • @Aviator1510 well they rarely get rain, so yeah..watch the movie, it's great :D

  • amazing how people in some places are glad just to have rain, while rich people like us complain about everything

  • @gabrielusa911 Your point is fully valid....though I still detect some contempt and lingering paternalism...

  • I am European and love Indian Culture and especially Bollywood Movies!

  • my niece has seen this movie so much as we own a copy that she can sing all the songs perfectly for someone who speaks English and Portuguese

  • they need some cloud seeding airplanes

  • Rain rain go away thats what all my haters say.

  • As much as I enjoyed Rahman's work on Slumdog, I much prefer this type of music from him and it would have been nice if he was nominated for an Oscar for his work here. Nevertheless, Slumdog open Hollywood's eyes to Rahman when all this time he's one of the world's best known composers. It really goes to show you how insular Hollywood can be.

  • @metallicrebel I don't think they could have nominated him for Lagaan if they wanted to. The Academy Awards and the Golden Globes are for American releases only I believe. Lagaan was nominated for Best International Picture however, but that award is the extent that the Academy goes for international films I believe. Slumdog was a British/Indian movie but it had a full American release.

  • AR Rehman has used VELLI MALARE song's beat from the movie JODI in this song....try to listen both....just for info......

  • @seraimice87 And Jodi's Velli Malare original version is Doli Sajake Rakhna's Bol Sajni (1998)... :)

  • one of my favorite hindi movies and songs!

Aamir Khan is a wonderful actor! and i agree with fluffysalt- lagaan is amazing and 10x better than hsm

  • @brokenheart2112 nothing like high school musical

  • @brokenheart2112

This is came out well before HSM and is far superior

  • @brokenheart2112 : What relation do u find between this and high school musical

  • amir is a perfectionist......nobody in bollywood....and yes i min nobody (especially the ashole sharukh) can compare parallel to the level of movies amir makes.

  • One of the best Indian movies ever made. If not THE best.

  • en plus du talent ce qui me touche c que ces gens se contentent de peu pour etre heureux comme pas notre société qui devient de plus en plus consommatrice

  • @attaoui52 Vrai, je suis d'accord.

  • aww it should have rained :(

  • @kaliyuta i dont try to imitate or mimic for the sake of mockery. i genuinely do like the culture & im not trying to take it away from anyone. & yeah, i probably do say it all wrong. however, im sure there are people from india that try to sing english pop songs, & i dont see it as them stealing "my culture". even suggesting that enjoying and attempting to sing a song in another language is like stealing a culture is quite extreme. its me trying to sing a song i enjoy, english or not. chill out.

  • by the way, making assumptions about a total stranger and then proceeding to lecture and rant via youtube comment, of all things, is not the best way to attack cultural awareness or lack there of.

  • Omg no offense it just is there any body who's posting that's indian?I've seen this movie many times. What's really amazing about these movies is that i can see them tons of times and get something different each time i watch.

  • love this movie. im the whitest kid ever, but can recite 90% of this song without knowing what im saying. =P

  • That's awesome :)

  • @lemae7 YAAAY

  • @lemae7 I'm not sure why there are 9+ signs in front of this comment.trust me ur indian friends laugh at you and you don't even know it.please let them have thier culture.Don't try to mimic or imitate that is very offensive. If you don't know the language than more than likely ur saying 85% out of the 90% completely wrong.Learn a new hobbie.A culture of ppl cannot be imitated.Or mimicked.I know lots of ppl are thinking this i'm the only one who said it.

  • U go ahead n sing out loud lemae7!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @lemae7 I am brown and cant recite any. jk :P

  • @lemae7 ha ha! me too! Chale Chalo ... no idea what I'm saying, but hey, chale chalo!

  • @lemae7 : me too im not white but i watched this in history and sang it in choir

  • @lemae7 thats awesome

  • @lemae7 hahahahahaha dude, im white and i do the same shit

  • modi rafi and kishore kumar is more better but he comes in 2 i guess... but no one could replace the orginal god knows!

  • A R Rahman simply reborn for Hindi after the dead of Mohd rafi.....wht a such wonderfullllllll music...its Magic !!!

  • You cant say such things about Rafi Sahab. He never died! He's still in our hearts with his melodious voice.

  • This should be adapted as a Broadway musical.

  • Stop this EUROCENTRISM why shuld it be a stupid broadway muscal...........west is not the center of the universe

  • @johnyzero2000

Just keep it Bollywood, much better than Broadway

  • @johnyzero2000 I was thinking that exact same thing, creepy

  • @johnyzero2000 it wouldn't do it justice. But the score for this movie is fantastic.

  • we're watching the movie in history, and seriously while amusing, the dancing and singing is the best part :D. yay for hindi music

  • AP World class watched this and this is seriously stuck in my head.

  • We watched this in history too! We just finished it on tuesday. I love bollywood films!!! This has to be my favorite one though. Super Awesome awesome movie lol

  • How is it used in History class? Just curious. I am wondering if the teacher(s) get the full purpose of the allegory.

  • Well actually, my class was an IB class that had taken an AP exam so we didn't have anything else to do as the final days of school approached so she had us watch this lol

  • I love this song. A.R. Rahman is simply genius.

  • We watched this video today in Home Room. Haha.

  • seriously?...........

    woah.....what did everyone think?

  • yeah i know. i own the movie...

  • This is the most awesome movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i fuckin loved this movie

  • all that for nothing, but good song though

  • yous are all pathetic.. jus enjoy the song

  • lagaan! such a g00d m0vie!

  • Como me encanta est acanción Y la peli es una pasada. Que gratos recuerdos tengo.

  • The weird Shaman guy i realized looks very much like rupert from survivor pear islands

  • My whole family calls him Hagrid.

  • This Song is great

  • Cant make a better song for this situation. Hats off to Laagan's team.

  • Whee! I love this one! :)

  • Well In parts of rajasthan and saurashtra(guj) it is very common for clouds to appear as if they r gonna rain and especially if its a famine, just a sight of clouds actually gives hope it may be over but if its too windy the clouds pass by without showering. You can laugh on the situation becoz u may have never seen it or experienced it but it happens.

  • Ethnocentric much?

  • You have everything you need in a movie in Lagaan...gosh i love it :)

  • oh yeah, and I was raised a Hare Krisna, so I was sorta exposed to the hindi thing, but I want more!! :D

  • The movie was fantastic, I git it from my local Blockbaster!!!! You have to watch it!!! Great songs, storyline and lesson out of it!

  • Didn't watch the film, but song's great ^^

  • Hats off the A R Rahman for the music and awesome singing by Udit, Alka, Shankar, Sukhwinder and Shaan.

  • Well based on your opinion they may be better, but a lot of people would disagree. Its hard to find such dancing, singing, and creative movies anywhere else in the world.

  • Seriously, and for all the hormone crazy kids of today, hannah montana, and hsm do not count.

  • fantastic movie!!! must watch

  • Aamir Khan is The BEST

    2000 Lagaan
