@TheVampireFeed yes, I know. But if you'd take notice, the comment was made a while ago during a debate in which people were making comparisons between the two.
@SeanIsaacBillings hell yeah i have... i love animal collective.. it's a personal thing ya know?
well in that case you should by yourself a synth and start making your own music. art it's everywhere and it comes from the heart and your mind and heart create weird/awesome things. and if you love yeasayer bro you sirrr have an awesome taste in music.
Thanks everyone for the kind feedback! I've been toying around with an acoustic version of this song, with banjo. I'll try to find the time to do it and post it. Be well.
You know, i|I}f yousearching for}|wanting|in need of}| need| want} a cool website to host your pics, look at w ww . fre e image house . com, that's what I use|where I go} for my hosting. Nice video!
I'm a 43 year-old guitar player, steeped in classic rock, grateful dead, bluegrass, etc but I have always had an appetite for real creative art, and folks, that's what this is. At first I found it amusing and just plain odd, but clearly art. Now it's growing on me as music. I'll bet there aren't too many old geezers like me capable of listening to this stuff. but I really like this song. i'm about to listen for the third time in a row.
@sparkomatic Hell yea man. I'm linking this song to some guy in a Pixies comment section who says there are no good bands these days. I hope I can be young at 43, like you. Stay open minded~
@sparkomatic 2 guys of animal collective said in an interview that they were big fans of grateful dead. they also sampled a part of the rythym section of the grateful dead song unbroken chain in their song what do i want sky. Maybe you did uncounsiously hear some of grateful dead back in animal collective's music and fell in love. or maybe you fell in love with it anyway :)
@bezwaarlijketruffel I don't think I heard any actual Dead music...I'll check that song out though! I think they represent what I call the "artistic spirit" that the GD also embodied. A bold determination to strike out into new ground. To do things differently in every way. They organize themselves differently than the norm. They operate differently, There music sounds different and also takes on new forms.
@bezwaarlijketruffel ps--the opening line of this song "I've been walkin on feet just like my father's" reminds me of the line from grateful dead franklin's tower "Your eyes look from your mother's face." a reference to the genetic links passed down through the generations.
@sparkomatic The fact you loved it so much after two views to give us that kind of statement is very sweet of you. It makes me proud that someone from a generation that meant something can appreciate some of the new stuff.
@ThisIsLouella if you listen to MGMT's new album with congratulations in it, its complete crap. the worst stuff ive ever heard other than congratulations
While people are talking about resemblences, Animal Collective is the Pixies of our generation. The abstracted lyrics, the shouting, etc. There are huge differences, of course, but the first thing I thought of when I heard Animal Collective was Frank Black.
@Pjuker MGMT is my favourite band but I really don't see the resemblance.... well, this one has a touch of similarity but people compare them all the time and they don't sound all that alike.
@sfdallator people are polarizing, not everyone shows all their colors though...people are all over the place like i think any of us have capacity to be a Hitler or John Lennon or just some hobo just lots of circumstance and stuff
what ive came to a conclusion with animal collecitve is that panda bear has asbergers and avey tare is just straight up mentally challenged and together they make a unique brilliant sound
what are they doing at 2:12? the only other thing i have to say is: if i had control of everything thumb in the universe, i'd put them all up for animal collective.
my friend told me to listen to this song cuz he listens to this type of music. so i did. and i didnt like it wat so ever. it was hella weird. bt a day later i hella wanted to listen to it. and i just cant get enough!(:
