guitars have no soul when they're factory made and massed produced like that, you have to build your own, they sound better and you get more self satisfaction out of it. besides real guitarists base they're choices on the sound the the price, best is only a matter of opinion

though les pauls(studio models and up) are mostly hand-made, each guitar has a slightly different sound. building a guitar is VERY hard and will not always be rewarding. it's best, in my opinion, to buy a guitar you like and tweak with it a little(if you have the money).

You're right, guitars have no soul. It is ultimately up to the guitarist to instill soul into it. Not by building it, but by playing it with his/her heart and feeling. Only then will an instrument have a soul.

Guitars never have souls, man.

It's all up to the player to instill `soul` into the music.

If you're trying to say that a handmade guitar has a better tone than factory made, 9 times out of 10 you're correct on that.

But there can be somebody playing a low end guitar and just jamming on it and playing soulful stuff.

Not only is it a cheap, factory made guitar, and it may not sound great, that doesn't mean that guy isn't playing with soul.
