I don't think there is a British owned washing machine company anymore, Servis and Hotpoint are both owned by Italian company Merloni, and Hoover is owned by Candy, I believe Hotpoint and Hoover are the only machines built in Britain now, most likely not for long :-(
Zanussi never was british, it is part of the Electolux group now. White Knight still make tumble dryers in Halifax.

My friend had problems with her zanussi as It took too long to wash 3 hours on normal wash.
But at least I have a washing machine from the no.1 brand made in Britain. Have a guess.
