@Xiko2work always a pleasure my friend.. im glad you enjoyed it! its just a short clip.. I thought it was too good just to let it go to the cutting room floor!
@masterkdrifte no problem bro.. just like in real driving.. did you see how her tires were spinning even in slow throttle? wouldnt really help at higher throttle until the tire "hooks up". In a slow speed.. your giving the tire a chance to grab something, rather than "sanding down" the ground with a high speed turn. Make sense? :) hope that helps. When the tire hooks up.. then you can add some throttle.. just like what was done in the vid. It was almost executed perfectly!
When you're not hooking up, you're not just going to magically hook up with low wheel speed. You need to find the proper combination of wheel speed and traction, and that means slippage. Go watch some real buggies and you'll see what I'm talking about. On slick mud or rock, you don't get any hook, just like in this video, and therefore need wheel speed to get you through.
@Tboninator there is no need to be rude - this wasnt overly slick.. it was relatively dry - and I appreciate you "letting me know" to watch "real" buggies my friend.. but if you knew who I was, and what I do.. then you would know.. theres no reason to point me in that direction ;) Scale RC'ing isnt always about speed - its about control.
I wasn't being rude- I apologize if you took it that way.
Any crawling or trail running, be it full size or RC is about control. Wheel spin isn't necessarily lack of control... There are many situations where traction is so minimal that wheel speed is required to get you through. If you think of your tires on the ground as if it were a clutch, you'd probably understand.
I've seen quite a few of your videos... Doesn't necessarily mean you can't still learn a thing or two.
@Tboninator my friend.. i never said wheel speed is a lack of control - though it can be as you know. IMO she hooked up on the tree root going with her front tires.. then wheel speed carried her up. She had plenty of wheel speed in this video,.. and applied it. I understand the clutch theory.. but have to say.. you dont want you clutch slipping - (wouldnt you agree?) ... you want hook up. And I am always open to learning my friend, but your comment suggests you assume this is all i have done.
Do I want my clutch slipping while it's engaged? No, of course not, but when it's not fully engaged, yes, I do. Otherwise it'd kill the engine, and I wouldn't go anywhere. That's how wheel speed works.
Your comment about control implied that wheel spin is the absence of it.
At no point in this video did she hook up during the climb. Hooking up is the concept of traction and the absence of wheel spin. Wheel speed is what got her past the obstacle.
@Tboninator well since the intent was to get her wheels up to the root... and then she made it.. well.. then in OUR opinion.. (lol) it was a combination of both. Bruther.. i am allowed to have that opinion yes? I have been respectful, and am not saying your wrong. Im saying it was a combo move. i suppose we will have to agree to disagree..Lol I do enjoy the banter though. Thanks for commenting.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be disrespectful or rude here- merely comment on what I saw as a somewhat incorrect statement. I've been subscribed to this channel for quite some time and enjoy watching the crawling videos (and hope to build my own scale crawler sometime in the future), but, ehh...
@208BrAnDo shes definitely learning man. i remember when I started her on the truck just last spring (2010) - It was full throttle ahead! now.. with a little coaching she drives great.. surprises me even on occasion. So thanks for posting.. she like to read that! :)
