Reynosa is one of various border towns that has had a problem with violent rivalry among the drug cartels that smuggle narcotics to the US due to the ravenous irresponsible US appetite for drugs. The Mexican army for months has sent a lot of soldiers to the area. It is acknowledged the army has committed some abuses. The protesters want the army out. I hope that enlightens anyone who is actually curious.
