My history is with FL studio, and I am trying to teach myself Logic too, but when i first opened it I panicked. The whole thing seemed completely alien to me.
Just seeing you navigate through the program is helping me get my bearing tremendously.
For some reason, it's not letting me change the output/input to a specific Bus. Can't seem to get such a simple thing to work. Problem with the options?
I have a question. Im a dj and i have mixes that i recorded. I want to split the mixes into individual tracks so when they burn to a cd, its not just one long audio file but a cd with tracks that the listener can cycle through. Is there a way to do that with logic. Where my final saved project will be seperate tracks.?
This guy does some of the best tutorials I've seen so far. After watching countless expert village vids that explain things like how the volume slider turns the volume up and down or how reverb makes vocals sound better, this stuff I can actually use.
you probably know this by know but if you'd have undone in the sample edit window instead of arrange, you wouldn't have needed to undo so many times then un-reverse.
i got an off topic question here, lets c who can answer me. you have your mic input monitored, are you recording your mic input anywhere to then attach to the video? if not then why input monitor?
Input monitoring is so you can hear what Logic is hearing from your input source (while also rendering any bus or audio effects you have attached to the audio track). This serves 2 purposes: if you're recording in a real studio where your subjects are inside a sound-proof room you can still hear them, and so you can check mic/volume levels and double-check they are setup as desired so that you don't waste time recording useless takes.
About that undo... The shortcut undo was targeting the arrange window, not the sample window, there is a seperate undo history fo both of them, and that's acuelly cinda' cool ;)
You prob know this, but for the rest watching, this it can be good to know =}
yea i do that when i dump my productions into a protool studio....hey logninja...i have a motif xs with some crazy sounds but i can only use it as a midi controller i have an mbox with audio cables and midi in and out but i still wanna record midi and setup a audio track underneath to record the midi playback with the sounds in my motif into the audio track...can u do that
If you assign the output of a software instrument to a bus, then assign an audio channel strip's input to the same bus, then you can record the software instrument to an audio track.
The audio of the midi track is playing, but not audio region actually got created. When I solo the new audio track, I can hear the beat from the Midi but there is nothing there that I can click on. What the hell happened?!
it's not a track setting, it's a region parameter. This means you have to have an audio region selected in order to see the checkbox. If it still isn't there, then you need to re-record the track or bounce it with the checkbox for 'place in audio bin' selected. DON'T NORMALIZE IF YOU BOUNCE. This destroys the follow tempo meta data
LEGENDARY!!!! Just discovered you and have subscribed. Your videos are the missing link - which for me are filling in all the gaps for this great program Logic. Nice work... Thanks!
does the digital audio thing you do work in Logic 7.2 cause I tried it and you cant pick a buss for an input on the audio channels... some good stuff on these videos though
Just a hint - the reason you couldn't undo the reverse was because the arrange area of the window was highlighted, so the undo command only applied to arrange. If you would've clicked the audio editor first, undo would've worked!
Great videos you got, even though I know logic pretty well there's still a lot I can pick up from seeing someone else do the same things.
finally a good explanation. Thanks

Hi there LogicNinja I am thinking of going from cubase 4 to Logic can I edit audio in the main window directly on the region like I can in Cubase.
canvoodoo 3 years ago
Aaaah - so THAT'S how you keep the audio tracks in time when the tempo changes. I've been trying to do it at track level. You're a LEGEND!!!!! :-)

though David, that audio file was created when you were recording from midi?

I've set this up exactly how you do it, but it won't record to the audio track. Is there anything I could be missing?

On my track settings there's no "Follow Tempo" checkbox. does anyone know why and how should I make it avaliable?

Yeah, it doesn't work in 7. Sorry!
(You can solo the track and bounce to disk... which is faster if you do it offline)

Reminds me of all the times I wanted to reverse a region but didn't because I was afraid to mess up the original audio file. Thanks for this.
