I bought the super8 b&w version in 1977. I remember how thrilled I was to get it home and break out the projector to watch it. I called my friends over to watch it with me. I still have the star wars super 8 film but no projector any more. Good times.
is that the Ken Films version in black and white? i have a black and white version from ken films but i have no idea whether or not it has sound as i do not have a projector in super 8 film gauge.
wWOW!!! to see this again is like the good old' days when dvd players were not used just as much as cassette players and i would pop in the video of ep. 4 to watch. I miss my childhood so much...... now i have Harry Potter to look forward to, but star wars will, and forever more always remain in our memories as an acievement of sci-fi/adventure film making can go....... :)
Film is also quite expensive to produce and a feature movie would have around 2000 meters of length or at least thats the lengths of the 33 mm films at cinemas so its not easy to have in your home either :P
Before the days of home video, movies were cut up and packaged onto 8mm film for home use. Star Wars was released in a couple of different versions on 8mm...this is select scenes from the best one that had color AND sound!
It can be found on eBay fairly easy. You'll need an 8mm projector to watch it.
@leamanc I have the B&W no sound version, complete with original box container! It isn't comparable in any way to today's home theaters, but it was very cool back in '77-78 for an 8 year old to have a Star Wars mini screening for his birthday party!
the hell no opening crawl?

About how long is the 8mm version of Star Wars? 20 minutes? I want to get Close Encounters as well.
