Slava was comprised of two previous melodies written (I think) for the (failed)1976 musical "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue." The first part, the 7/4 fanfare, is a song that was called "Grand Old Party," the second part, the 7/8 section, is from a number called "Rehearse." This is very well-done.
