I hear yah on the sports and gym thing too, don't care for stats but love watching/playing an exciting game. Stats are only impressive at the end of the year..
I"m an INTJ girl, and for the longest time I always wondered why I was alone and quiet and other girls are all together and talkative. I have always loved books and music, more than socializing. I love libraries lol. I always ask 'why'. I'm thinking about the logic behind things, and always observing, having a different opinion.
@prairiegrass100 Same here. It gets lonelier occasionally but i don't like the "mainstream life" extroverted people are experiencing and refuse to be part of something i don't fit in just for the sake of it. And i consider INTJ's the most superior personality types. Maybe our existence is kind of a positive mistake in the evolution of human beings.
I share your opinion of 'Feeler's.INTJ's are often pegged as uncaring because part of the description is that we can APPEAR aloof. Feeling justified being an #ss is reactionary and therefore marks a more Extroverted type.Bombarding YouTube wiht 100s of videos about opinions, that's pretty extroverted and competitive, which is not INTJ,on a basic level...ENTJ? INTJs seek all points of view and remain unbiased.Claiming to be better is not logical because All is part of a whole :cold, not cruel.
@cunnidvd I am not making a pan statement that noone ever can be competitive but the INTJs who attack that I've seen on YT and other sites and the embracing of nastiness as the only way to be INTJ is, I think illogical and a misunderstanding of the typing system in general. Many people take one test, from one site and use it as an excuse to be anti social.
What you do you guys think about Entp girls? (which would be me). INTJ guys are my favorite to get a rise out of. But I suppose Enfp girls would be this impulse times infinity :P
You were right about the different learning. My mind simply doesn't register facts or details without understanding what system is behind it. It's how I learned for school subjects too - I read until I understood the big picture and I would pass the test easily. Always hated tests which required simple memorizing. Meanwhile some of my (probably sensor) classmates would hate insight questions which could not factually be verified by the book.
Kudos on the opinion of feeling types (back-stabbing?). I'm no guru when it comes to MBTI but from observation, it appears once you're able to identify the core values (or beliefs) of F's we become easier to understand. Sometimes it can almost appear systematic.
Reminds me of myself. I am INTJ.. always thought that I am unique and different. Feel like i am an alien from outer space sometimes.. I mean it could be hard to relate with other people.. sometimes I wish I could be more extroverted, but I am greatful for my planning sense, vision and ambitions.
I can really relate to you reading books and researching complusivly what a certain machinary is and how it works; rather than just learning the basics and knowing your way around the buttons. When I was about 11 I got a laptop as a present from my parents and I loved it so much, I started to learn how to programme computers. I actually programmed my own game when I was 11. Also, I too get frustrated when people do not put their intelligenace forward and I assume they can and just should.
I totally agree with being able to emulate other traits. I hate doing it because it zaps the energy from me. (I'm INTJ.) I am the same way about learning. I'm currently interested in analog synthesizers but I'm finding I can't just turn the knobs and see what happens. So I'm reading a book on the physics of sound and electronics of wave synthesis because I NEED to know how the machine works, not just how to use the machine. lol
It sucks being an INTJ in california. I cant find anyone that says anything interesting. all anyone cares about here is rap and hip-hop, and looking like a thug. Its like their only contribution to society in america is to be walking organ banks...
Great video. I definitely learn the same way as you. The comparison between learning the order of buttons and learning the fundamentals of the system is also known as the difference between procedural and declarative knowledge.
Intj here and I enjoy paintball thoroughly, I m very good, it is alot of fun for our personality types. Going into law enforcement like the marshals or fbi, because we work fine by ourselves and allowed room to move and work
there is only one sport I like to play, and that is paintball, it is actually great for an INTJ, you can get th opportunity to leas, to plan out moves, to strategize, and it is basically a great sport that I, as an INTJ would recommend for others.
I am INFJ and I "feel" there is a definite balance here in that I like that he gets straight to the point. I think I could handle this type on a project by project basis but not on long term. I do agree that there is a logical analytical aspect to the INTJ that I relate to that is probably do to the "N" portion of the personality type. I do like his passion for work. You know he is a hard worker.
I'm an INTJ game programmer and body-builder. Route memorization is only good for followers of systems, not people who plan to be able to apply developed skills to *any* given situation. So, I concur.
I think there is another problem with INTJ's regarding the conventions and social norms. I personaly have lots of mental conflicts with the way other people rule theyr world trough culture. I am also an anthropologist, so, once I hunderstand the logical fundaments i get in peace with that, but there are lots of social rules that are mantained in culture throuth religious beliefs and "it have always been like that so" principles... Cultures are just like they are because INTJ are rare.
I totally agree with u on that. I have been raised in 3 different cultures and I always question certain pracitises and need to know why people do what they do. If it has a logical explanation, I just feel "Ahh I love my culture" but if it comes to the "Its always been like this so we have to continue it" I will totally reject it and get really annoyed; esp if its a custom which has restrictions. I do not like restrictions, authority, tradition etc.
listening these videos is like finding the lost link between me and the others. I always felt like lost in a world of people that in my point of view brainly operated like animals or tv cartoons, being non rational, and most of the times not trully interessed in the fundamental reasons for the working of things. Learning have always been a problem for me, specialy math at school, just because of that thing of yelow , green equals red button. I need to know WHY. WHY is the basis of INTJ's.
im INTJ, and i completely understand what ur saying. i used to think i was a wierdo like no one could be like me cuz i was so diffrent from the people around me.. than i found out i was a INTJ and it all fell into place.
ur like the brother i never had :) hahaha good video make another one! :p
Interesting talk, I'm an INTJ too, it's weird finding people whose brains work the same way that mine does because we're such a lower percentage of the population.
I am taking calculus 2 right now (Major EE). When ever my professor try to explain something it just bothers me because i feel like i don't fully know the equation until i truly understand it in a fundamental level. Because by then, i could literally explain everything from top to bottom to my friends on how to solve and why it is solved. Its like a MUST for us INTJs when it comes to learning i guess. We literally have to trace things back to its origin to feel conformable.
Part 2 Years later taking test for advancement I was several steps ahead because once I learned the way I needed to it was ingrained forever. I learn things, not memorize things. I am an INTP which is close to your INTJ which explains clearly to me why we have a need to understand, not just push the button. Once one learns in our fashion it is permanent. Thanks for the video. Even though I'm a P instead of an J I can see strengths in each personality type. I mean Albert Einstein was INTP
Part 1. I understand exactly what you mean about learning different. I was in a accelerated Navy electronics school and they wanted you to learn fast and answer test questions by memorization. I told them I had to understand the entire circuitry, how everything worked right down to the detail. They didn't like it, I was probably a bit slower than some that went through the classes but I learned (not memorized) and turned out to be one of the best in my class. (continued)
INTJ here. Thanks for putting this video up. I love hearing other INTJs express what its like being the way we are. Its almost therapeutic in a way to see there are other people who see things the same way I do. To missalyzandra, the detached or coldness you detect is something people say about me all the time. I think its just a characteristic of INTJs. My guess is that its their mix of strict adherence to logic and self confidence which makes INTJs seem cold or rigid to other types.
I'm an INFP, perhaps one of the 'feeliest', and I actually find his mannerisms quite comforting in this video. Some perceived 'coldness' might actually level out an otherwise far too caustic, emotional person.
...out of our thought process. Also, I wonder if it's because you're putting yourself out there being an I, or if it's your T, but you come off a bit cold and closed off in this video. And I am in no way insulting you, it just caught my interest. A lot of my T friends seem that way if they aren't totally comfortable with you. So that was just a sidenote. I know I have a ton more I'd like to comment on, but I'm running out of room. I've posted several INFJ vids. Check em out.
Which, albeit, may not always be the most honest or best way to go about things, but we're scared to death of hurting anyone's feelings. I can say that in my life I've been a bit bad about that, and other types like to judge and say that I'm being two-faced, but really, I just don't know any other way. The last thing in the world I would ever want to do is upset someone, and I attempt to avoid conflict like the plague, so maybe that will help you make a bit more sense...
Basically, I can get how you would see "feelers" as being kind and generous when someone's around, and then backstabbing them when they leave the room. I understand your thought process there. But for me, at least, and I think for a load of other F's out there, or maybe more specifically, INFJ's, it's not that we're backstabbing them, it's that we so desperately don't want to hurt anyone or step on anyone's toes...
Wow, so much that I want to comment about this video. First, thank you so much for posting it! I realize (from my own experience) how difficult it is for us Introverts to put ourselves out there. Hence the distorted video on your part, maybe?
Anyway, the one thing I really want to mention is how amazing I think it is that you and I share three out of the four traits, and yet seem so different. I am an INFJ, and I must admit that your comment about "feelers" kind of struck a nerve with me...
i loved the way you said "intuitive powers". i prefer to call it my "spidey sense" though... lol (silently).
this is probably one of the best INTJ videos on youtube (not that there are many); i especially enjoyed your explanation on how INTJ's mind works when learning; the obsessive need to learn the fundamentals in order to understand the concept at work.
I hear yah on the sports and gym thing too, don't care for stats but love watching/playing an exciting game. Stats are only impressive at the end of the year..

Us INTP's are the opposite. We need a feel for the concept, and after we have a framework set up we see if its possible using the fundamentals.
