When you play a melody note and a drum beat at the same time,, do you play the melody note with a downstroke on the string, a la Tommi Paldanius, or are you actually picking the string in the regular way with an upstroke?

Sorry, no I have no tabs or instructional videos done... :( If it helps the chords I'm using are Em, C, D, G, Bm (with capo on 1st so really they are Fm, C#, D#, G#, Cm)

Thanks! For the drumming I hit the guitar just above the strings with my hand (the part that touches the guitar is sort of between the wrist and the palm of the hand) while third and fourth fingers play the melody. ;)
