Here's the REAL test: see how that thing likes making it out of those holes from a dead stop. Splashing through at speed proves nothing. H1's are neat vehicles, more of a novelty though. Over complicated, high maintenance, overpriced toys. I respect them for what they are, which is just that. In all honesty I can do just as much (and more as far as real world useability) with my stock Ram 2500 v10. And if I drown it, it won't cost more than a house around these parts to replace the whole truck!.

As much as people like to bash on the H1 you have to give it a lot of props. Think about it... it has a long wheel base and it's low to the ground. It wasn't build for 4wheeling. It was built for rough terrain on military missions. Stock it will beat almost any production vehicle out there (probably minus the F-150 Raptor). I know cuz I am in the military and I own a Jeep (not stock).

Off roading is learned just by the experience you have.You learn what your rig can do and cant do by putting it to the test just like you were doing.You did well.That was an exellent place for a begginer to get muddy.Not too deep and not too challenging.THats just what you want.Now you have a good idea of what your rig will do for now.Next mud hole might be deeper and you may get stuck,,,but thats the way you get experience.But remember.Your at it to have fun anyway.Dont take it too seriously.

Cool video, H1 doing what it does best: hitting some rough terrain @ speed w/out batting an eye. Does yours have CTIS and Brake Throttle Modulation (I think some have these as options)? I've certainly enjoyed going from a Wrangler to a Cherokee to a Ranger extended bed (not known for its capability..) as my skill level and confidence has gone up with the trail ratings. Wish I could afford a Hummer, maybe when I'm old and retired and my back won't take the beating anyway... oh well. Have fun!!

Watch that intake. The second water gets higher than your intake, you're hosed. Also, check the depth of the mud/pond before you run through it. Murphy says "murky water = deeper than expected." Also, NEVER wheel alone. Always have another vehicle with you that is capable of getting your ass out of whatever you got into. Finally, Tread lightly. Don't tear up private property or designated trails. Shit will get shut down quick and ruin it for everyone else. Nice rig. have fun.
