Kevin Woodly is DJs,if im not mistaken, hes gotta be 48 now, cause in 87 he was around 26,he wasnt the original DJ,he started in lik 85,i went there 1st time in 81,did u ever go to the Silver Shadow at 57th and 7th ave? It was n basement, their sister club. Have you been to current Shadow? Theyve got the rear ened of the Bently car on the wall from Bentlys n Carib room too.
i'd gotten to know the doorman and would slide him a ten spot n slide n,one of the bartenders named Damian used to giv me unlimited drinks for $10 too,but summer or 87 i saw Jomanda,Sybil,Marshal Jeff,CC Rogers,Xavier Gold,The Colonel,..all the hot groups then performing there,n coupl yrs later Envouge.....lasting memories,oh n yould always party with celebs dancin next to u,Mark Jax,Tyson,Tommy Davison,Davy Moore,....you took me back B.
mtnharlem@yahoo.com His name was Kevin,im still thinking of his last name,he was short, about 5'9",he still looks the same,i was in Shadow a year ago, funny thing was i was living in cleveland and would drive 7 hours to the city just to hangout for the weekend and make it back for work on monday, now i live in the city and rarely hangout, those were the days, and his backup DJ was Daryl James who dated a close friend of mine, theyr still friends.
One of the sad factors in NYC clubbing is the club keeping people on the line to be belittle and demean customers. Would Macy's get away with belittling and demeaning there customers? We make clubs what they are. Bentley's had no tables :-). Bottle service was slim to none. The line went around Madison Ave, and Bentley's got everybody in! Remember when WBLS used to broadcast live from Bentley's? Remember the themed weekends?
Sudar Daddy was Bentlys DJ,he's durrently the DJ at The Shadow wich is owned by Bently's wich closed in the mid 90's,Shadow is on west 28th btwn 7th n 8th ave.
The bartenders wore polo shirts with the name Bentley's stitched on their shirts. The drinks were inexpensive in the 10cent cup! LMAO. Those were the days. Went out with $100.00 ended the night with breakfast and had money left over! Every weekend, was a themed weekend at Bentley's!
Would of never knew his name was Sugar Daddy, I heard his gov't name Something Jefferson, if I'm not mistaken. Is he a big, tall, black, older guy? Today, DJ's need to take lessons from him, that man could set a mood and and arrange records like no other.

Oh yeah, this was a classic at the Roxy. I spent many saturday nights there. After the Roxy it was always a tradition to than go to The Sound Factory.

Unfortunately, the album on which this appeared was awful. Dope song, though. Peace.
