  • I think he's breathing wrong. At least need to breathe out when you get to your extension and in on the way back or when you get back. Isn't that the rule or am I wrong?

  • Comment removed

  • haha! it's dave castro! Crazy to see him as SO1. He's such a rad guy. Even as an announcer.

  • @EddyMaiden11

Nobody can say if the SEALS are or aren't fitter than you, but I promise you that any SEAL could beat the fuck out of you without breaking a sweat.

  • What..? Does he struggle with the 50lbs shoulder press..? What a pussy

  • @hiphopaap 25lbs weight+25lbs weight+45lbs bar = 95lbs shoulder press..... Lol

  • Im sorry, but 3-5 mins is too much rest time. I personally use a stop watch to have a 2 min count down for the next set.

  • @CataclysmicWarlord

I don't care how long you've been a seal, if that is the strength training they do then we have right, nay, a duty, to comment on how our grannies could do it. 5x5 for 3 exercises is not enough. I was doing between 10x10 and 6x3 for 8 exercises twice a day, 4 days a week, and a half marathon, increasing cycle (between 60 and 120 miles) and a two mile swim on the other days respectively. I'm not in the forces, I don't plan in joining. Can you say they're fitter than me?

    Also

  • Really you trying to compare MMA and child martial arts classes to the most hardest training on the planet? Ive been a seal for almost six years now and have trained with former spetsnaz teams and the difference is staggering. THey have more mental training then physical while we have more mental and physical endurance training then them on any day. If you really wanna bad mouth the men and wemon who keep you safe so you can get on here and run that little mouth then why not join and see...

  • I love how all these people on here are talking shit when this SEAL would drop any of you before you even know what happen.

  • Dave Castro has no business teaching strength movements. He has Beavis and Butthead legs.

  • I thought these men were suppose to be strong, I hope these aren't the men that our protecting our country.

  • @Artonious Those men could absolutely kick the shit out of you. If you don't want them protecting us go move somewhere else asshole.

  • @27Dawkins Spestnaz soldiers have harder training that this, and are way tougher by far. Could they kick my ass? Perhaps so, 12 years of martial arts, 3 years of MMA training, and just brutal raw strength, will be backing me up against whatever these guys have. And I'm from Spain good sir :)

  • @Artonious your a pussy. ive trained with these guys. they are perfectly made machines. your a little show off bitch.

  • @southsideking1993 Yes a pussy that could very well kick your ass.

  • dave castro is a douche bag ass hole!

  • To win Granada, but to loose Vietnan , Iraq and Afganisthan ? What a cool nazi masochism...

  • five minutes is good for strength like 3 to 4 reps then 5 minute break strongmen are the best people to learn form from the have everything down to a tee i was deadlifting 170kg and 4 weeks of training with two lads i no tha are strongmen on a competition level boom 197kg for 1 rep then got 190 for 2reps which i was really pleased with

  • that guy aint to strong for being a navy seal

  • why a 3-5 minute rest between a set. sounds like a long time. i would lose my sweat at 3-5 mins. should be a 30-45 second rest.

  • @likeomgutube Actually, 3 minutes is correct for strength. Go to school for exercise science like the people designing the navy seals program, and then feel free to correct. At 3 minutes you aren't even 100% recovered from the anaerobic creatine phosphate pathway which is the sole provider of ATP(bodies energy source). You destroy muscle during lifts with only 5 reps if you're lifting correctly, add in breakdown of muscle and low ATP stores and you can't lift heavy or enough to see gains.

  • @soccerboi789 yah i can tell by their massive physiques the 5 minute rest is the way to go. actually fuckhead, thats way too long of a rest. ever watch a real "strongman" or powerlifter train? ever train with one? well I do on a daily basis, and you do not. you fucking sit around and talk a bunch of shit science about how the body metabolizes phosphates and shit. get off your gay ass and go workout.

  • @soccerboi789 You are absolutely right. A lot of strength comes from adaptation of the central nervous system to recruit more motor units. Our high school hockey team trains with the MN Wild strength coach over the summer, and part of our training program includes heavy load (80-90% of 1RM) with 4 minute rest intervals. The summer between my sophomore and junior season I went from a 315 max to a 420 max on the squat at 170 using this method.

  • @buffhockey47 How many sets and reps did you do?

  • back is bent when deadlifting...

  • How far should the feet be apart on deadlifts, cuz I want to train deadlifts before I go into SEALS.

  • @xKODIAKx91 you're feet should be underneath your hips, essentially your feet will be as wide as they would be if you were trying to jump as high as you could. if you're wanting to be a SEAL, look into crossfit. the workout they're doing in this video is something called "crossfit total," kinda.

  • @scarpacci311 Crossfit does you absolutely no good in gaining muscle mass or strength. It is for conditioning and endurance only. This version is used to build muscle mass (hence the 5x5 set up).

  • @TKMSeznam12 5x 5 would be too low in volume to see max muscle growth ,largely it would be for max strength

  • hello I just want to give you some advice on the time of rest during a strenght exercise 3 min is the proper time no longer or shorter this is the ex time for the ATP levels inside the sarcomere to reach its 100% cap I am a exercise science degree holder. 5 mins is to long I hope this information is benifical for you

  • Shouldn't the description be, "There ARE three simple exercises that, when combined, ..." At least the word there was used and not their.

  • dude you are killing your wrist, you don't hold the bar right when you press

  • Comment removed

  • He's lifting about 250 lbs + 25-30lbs bar weight, and he's around 200 lbs, so that's pretty good. The only weird thing about his form is that he isn't breathing efficiently.

  • haha i love the big ass plates, i want some, so it looks like im lifting heavier weight than i actually am... lol

  • @Brian3o8 Those are bumper plates. They're all like that.

  • @Brian3o8 actually those red plates are 45's, and olympic bar thats 45 lbs. and 2 10's. 45x5=225 lbs and then add 20 more. if you sir can squat 245 then your strong. but if you think your so good then please go apply to be a SEAL and get rejected in the first week..

  • @Brian3o8 you can actually see the METAL bar bending under pressure. you fool

  • @Brian3o8 I have met many many Seals..... I will pay you 10,000 dollars if you can keep up with their work out. But please please dont take your shirt off every time you get to.. I hate it when Seals do that.. "Oh look my shirt dissapeared with magic!" For the love of...

  • @SarcasticWino how many did u suck? im a navy seal wana suck me off too baby

  • @azzxxxxx No you're not. You're a lonely virgin on the Internet. SEALS dont have time to go on the internet, jackass.

  • @TKMSeznam12 ur not a seal fagboy.

  • @azzxxxxx How do you know?

  • @TKMSeznam12 cus i know ur not a seal r a weak faggaty human with no skills.

  • @TKMSeznam12 That has to be the dumbest comment i've seen yet. Sure the guy wont be a Seal but to base that on the fact he's on the internet and apparently Seals dont have time to use the internet is fucking stupid. An average week (excluding tours, training courses, etc) they would be looking at about a 40 hour week plus leave, etc.

  • @MrMapex2010 Right, says another virgin.

  • @TKMSeznam12 Even if I was a virgin I fail to see how it has any relation to this argument? Mate go get you helmet and crayons and sit in the corner. Nobody wants to listen to a retard like you.

  • @Brian3o8 The weights are bigger because they are made of compressed rubber and or plastic. Which hopefully you know doesnt weigh as much as a iron or steel weight. They are made of the plastic/rubber combination because they dont ding, shatter or hurt anyone(as badly) when your drop them from doing a press, clean & jerk or other work outs that would require you to do them quickly then go into another exercise quickly.

  • @Brian3o8 Those are bumper plates.

  • The name of this workout its simple 5x5 stronglift or an extended version of Starting Strength.

  • @snowshark84 It is possible to be very strong/powerful without being big, it's called "myofibrillar hypertrophy"

It's kinda hard to believe technique (which is really just how you do things) can make you kick the ass off people a lot stronger and a lot more powerful then you...

  • thats the weakest workout ever.

  • Holy shit dude, why are those 45lb plates so thick? The ones where I lift are no thicker than a laptop.

  • @RandomStevie theyre rubber

  • @RandomStevie They're Bumper plates, basically they're good to have when you're doing Olympic lifts like Cleans, Jerks, etc so you can just drop the weight and it won't destroy the floor or make a loud crash scaring people.

  • haha the instructor looks more tired after putting the weight on than the other guy

  • um i have a journal and a vlog showing me do it so safd u fuckin polish prick

  • Love how any video involving weight lifting there's like seventeen 15-16 year old prodigy muscle men

  • @ManBearxPig still bigger than you "Man bear pig" -_-

  • @snowshark84 So your saying with technique you can beat someone stronger and more powerful then you?

I'm pretty sure Royce Gracie has a lot of strenght and power behind it as well... not just technique.

  • Being a SEAL or elite combat troop is far more mental than physical. If it was mostly physical many more people would be in these groups.

  • bruce lee, chuck norris and many navy seals whose names i dont kno are trained and taught deadly tactics they dnt have to be big they hav to b skilled and determined

  • Basic workout that works.

  • @snowshark84 How can he be a "super tough killing machine" without being big? Not hating, just want to know?

  • @tazss159 stamina, speed, and intelligence when combined with skill, technology, and tactics is what makes one a "super tough killing machine". Being "big" or "strong" are the least important things.

  • @brycecoad1 How do they develop speed? What are the best types of exercise methods to develop speed?

  • @tazss159 That's a difficult question. What kind of "speed" are you looking for? 40 yards for NFL? 100m? Or the quickness and agility of an NBA point guard?

  • @brycecoad1 Like how could I improve my top speed in sprinting? And how could I improve my accelaration of the mark? What about punching/kicking speed (limb speed)? How could I improve that? We can continue this in the P.M if you want (too long for the comments section)

  • @tazss159 if you want to increase your sprinting speed you should sprint alot. But also go to a gym and do squats or deadlifts as shown in this vid. Do an explosive movement up and go slow down. This should work fine.

  • @d0pyy How about increasing punching/kicking speed?

  • @tazss159 Well that should be similar, but I am not shure about that. You can punch and kick against a sandbag to train you punches and kicks. With the correct technique you should be able to improve your speed with the time. I think it is important that you train with a high frequence ( often ) to see results faster.

Else you could do benchpress with explosive repititions. The movement of pushing the weight in bench press is a bit like the movement of a punch. Hope this helps you.

  • @d0pyy Thanks for you'r time, nothing that I didn't already know... but thanks anyway :D

I'm trying to find those hidden exercises used by professional martial artists (like Bruce Lee) to make you'r movements so fast...

  • @tazss159 Ok never heard of that ^^ but when you find something that works well please share it with me :)

  • @d0pyy Sure... though do you think there are any special hidden exercises used by professional martial artists?

  • His back is rounded on the dead-lift putting his lower spine at great risk to injury

  • plz do look at this video and try to gauge in any way what either of those, or any SEAL, is capable of.

  • @UnEvn

He was struggling with the 245.

  • For all of you saying this stuff is easy, your forgetting he has to add weight after every set he does for these workouts plus this is just for demonstration so it's not like its the real deal. And he does stuff like this, AND the other inhumane SEAL's training like in the other vids everyday for 6 months. And dude is a Navy SEAL's instructor, so he's probably done this stuff for most of his life. So I would'nt be so quick to underestimate this dude's toughness OR strength in any type of way.

  • @TheSuperEntertainer

he is only squatting 245. . .not that much weight at all

SEALs are endurance type athletes we don't expect them to squat 400lbs like other bodybuilders/football players

  • @JayPull85 Thats basically the point I'm tryingto make...

  • lol bar almost flipped in the unloading, gotta be careful with that

  • Those were brutal dead lifts.

  • @DCD13 lol not even thats light weight

  • I love how they lift 200+ pounds WITH NO BARLOCKS!

  • @Cokecanninja they're navy seals ffs.

  • @Manveet , yes they have structural break downs moving incredible weight, not a realtivley light load like in this video. This is an instructional video so they shouldnt show improper form in my opinion.

  • The Dave Casto.

  • anyone unsure of the weight look from 3:14 green is clearly 10lb and red a few seconds later is visible as 45lb. hence, he is lifting 45x5+10x2=245

  • @Manveet O.K got it

  • um has anyone ever seen 25's that big those look a bit like 45's no?

  • @beamerball666 they are 45's

  • @XthebigXcheeseX Ah I thought I saw a Two

  • @beamerball666 probably saw the kilograms

  • @XthebigXcheeseX your probably right because 45's are what 22.2 or something like that?

  • @beamerball666 yessir

  • STRONG dosesnt mean BIG

  • @witn3ss exactly! and being big does mean you're strong(power to weight ratio)

  • @matthewbasa being big would also mean you're slow.

  • "You start with a load you can comfrtably handle" other guy..."245 should be good" First guy, "And slowly raise the weight as you continue"

  • Oh, hey. It's Dave Castro-whatever from Crossfit.

  • "you start with a load that you can comfortably handle" ..... 245 should be good....

  • didnt know seals were so weak. altho he could probably kill me....

  • Comment removed

  • @lmcctd i know im just joking. not like u have to be super strong to be a seal.

  • @lifterXofXtheXdead thats a stupid comment. You cant be a big fucking balloon in the seals because you have to have cardio. dickhead

  • @cuminthrewwitdastrap ya i already know that.....my comment was a obvious joke. mr. cuminthrewwitdastrapon....ur names fuckin retarded and easily made fun of.

  • If Navy Seals ate their weight in protein each day they would be super buff.

  • @blackyblackblack505 ya but then they wouldnt be able to run

  • @cuminthrewwitdastrap But they would be buff. Enough said.

  • The trident on the ground looks so sick!

  • yea 245 with crappy form. Look at his knees coming medialy. Obviously hip weakness. crap video

  • Comment removed

  • difference between shoulderpress and pushing overhead movement? what muscles do both train?

  • @snowshark84 lol u the Navy Seals i met weren't that tall but they were very muscular

  • awesome videos..but the music is just brutal

  • you dont get enough sleep in the army to body build

  • Dude, for a sec i thought those were metal not rubber. I was thinking "holy shit he's a fucking tank!!"

  • When you're doing squads, do you have to break the 90 degrees knee angle?

  • @xPendek There are different opinions about how low to squat, but my experience combined with what I've read suggest it's best to not go below 90 degrees. If you try squatting both ways without any weight, you'll probably observe that below 90 degrees you're experiencing a different dynamic, with different muscles coming into play and more effort to stay balanced. Some lifters like that effect, but it comes with a greater risk of injury IMHO.

  • @Tigerpaws9097826 Thanks for your comment! I always did the squads below the 90 degrees and indeed experienced the effects you just called. Last couple of training days I didn't break the 90 degrees and realy liked it, always going to do this from now on. Thanks

  • navy seals arent big weight lifter, their not meant to be, big weight lifters have a very very hard time in BUDs, i am 6' 220 trying to train for my pst, i have a very hard time with runs and swimms, i am so muscular and dense, but i can out bench, squat, or curl anyone in the SEAL teams, but can hardly run a mile and half in 14 min, or swimm 500 yards under 15 min, its give and take, ill have to drop about 15 pounds, most seals ive met are around 5'7 165 pounds animals, few are big like me

  • navy seals arent big weight lifter, their not meant to be, big weight lifters have a very very hard time in BUDs, i am 6' 220 trying to train for my pst, i have a very hard time with runs and swimms, i am so muscular and dense, but i can out bench, squat, or curl anyone in the SEAL teams, but can hardly run a mile and half in 14 min, or swimm 500 yards under 15 min, its give and take, ill have to drop about 15 pounds

  • So what would be the routine I do with these exercise? 5 sets of 5 reps for the 3 exercises. But how many times per week would I do this? I am really weak and want to improve my strength with something simple like this.

  • @richardm80 Three times a week is a good start. In weightlifting, you should always allow at least one day of rest before re-stressing the same muscle groups. After a couple of weeks, note how your body is feeling; if your capacity to hoist the weights goes down rather than up, or if you're constantly feeling physically or emotionally lower than normal, it could be a sign that you need to insert an extra day of rest here and there.

  • worst form ive ever seen. have fun breaking your wrists on real shoulder presses if you do what he did.

  • Almost everyone posting on this thinks that this SEAL is a professional weightlifter. He's not. He's a trained killer. In fact, the squat looked almost too much to do more sets.

  • Doing the squat is bad for your back... 1 wrong move and your back is injured for a long time.

  • @Ronttteh driving car is also bad for your back, 1 wrong move and your back is injured for a long time.

  • @snowshark84 judging by his training he is very strong ..but if a big guy trains like this he will be much much stronger

  • infowars . com

  • Body mechanics are pretty good but the breathing technique is WRONG. Breathe in just before you lift. Breathe OUT when you lift the weight, do NOT hold your breath. Otherwise you risk shooting up your blood pressure or increase spinal pressure on your discs!!! It does matter!!!

  • @DoNotBAfraidIAmWithU ...actually you are incorrect the Valsalva maneuver is correct and you should let out your breath just after the sticking point according to the NSCA (for which I am certified). We don't recommend the beginners in training (aka general public) use this technique because your blood pressure can reach 320/180 and sometimes higher depending on load and time under tension. The increase in intrabdominal pressure is used for core stability - others use a weight belt.

  • @DoNotBAfraidIAmWithU Wrong. Don't talk about shit you don't know.

  • @snowshark84 no its not really impressive, i know small guys that will eat that weight for fun!

Besides size doesnt really matter technique does!

  • the DOR sign in the back ground at the beginning of the video is really motivational haha

  • BAD

  • Comment removed

  • 3:40 Anybody who has ever taken a weight lifting class can see how stupid what he just did is. NEVER remove all the weight from just one side or the bar will lift up and the other side will slide off. I've seen somebody's foot get crushed from a falling weight cus an idiot ripped off the other side.

  • @effyochicken the other guy took the weights off the other side..

  • @effyochicken Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you'll find Jay Cutler or Ronnie Coleman running a PT session at the Naval Special Warefare center...

  • I hope everyone realizes he is squatting 245 5 times....

  • thats easy.

  • Comment removed

  • @martin1234512345 they use alot heavier weight than that their just explaining it

  • @amazinglyawesomedude Yeah but I bet he can squat quite a bit more

  • @amazinglyawesomedude

thats not even a big deal, is it? It would be impressive if he could squat 245 30 times

  • @fiori90 Who ever said that was his real 5rm? Remember it's a demonstration video not an actual training session ;)

  • @amazinglyawesomedude it was more like 200 even but dtill impressive for his size

  • @amazinglyawesomedude isn't it more like 308lbs?

  • @richardm80 no, the reds=45,the greens=10, the bar is 45, so 4 times 45 plus two times 10 plus 45=245.

  • @LAxLakersx24 oh ok. Red weight plates are normally 25kg which is 55lbs and greens are normally 10kg which is 22lbs and the bar would be a standard 45. 4x55 + 2x22 + 45 = 309lbs ??

  • @LAxLakersx24 its impossible to tell...my school gym has red bumpers that weigh 45, and i go to a gym owned by an ex-olympic weight lifter, where the reds are 25kg.

  • @TOBigNasty65 yeah, but here in AMERICA we don't use that fancy pants metric stuff. Plus the green weight said 10lbs.

  • @LAxLakersx24 the dude who own my gym was born in texas and has metrics...im just sayin, theres no way to really tell. the greens at my school are 10 pounds and at my gym are 10kg. just sayin, u cant really tell

  • @amazinglyawesomedude

    thats really not that impressive

  • Comment removed

  • @amazinglyawesomedude I also hope everyone realizes there's a good chance they've picked a fitness model instead of a navy seal.

  • @amazinglyawesomedude lol not alot of weight there buddy......

  • Comment removed

  • @Miamidolp111 nobody cares how small your dick is.

  • @amazinglyawesomedude thats not impressive whatsoever....

  • @amazinglyawesomedude lolz i could do that when i was 17, and I weigh 160 lb.

Not trying to bash the seals though

  • @amazinglyawesomedude

Are you saying that isn't a lot of weight?

    it isn't that much

  • @amazinglyawesomedude i hope you realize that as long as your more than 115 pounds thats not enough weight to say so

  • @amazinglyawesomedude ok i hope u can realize that im only 16 and can dead lift 275 for 5

  • @beeftron3000 Can you do it after being awake for three days constantly working out? Being harassed, cold, wet, and sandy?

  • @tweedo123 i did it after being awake for 2 days, and i was freezing because i was in a 40*f pool for 2 hours then ran a mile and got back in i did it 14 times then i stood with my head in an ice bath so get on my level and im only 16 and he must be 35-40

  • @beeftron3000 lol. your such a fucking liar.

  • @amazinglyawesomedude I'm 17 years old and 160 pounds and I can do that...

  • @amazinglyawesomedude that's not that much when you compare his muscle mass vs body weight composition. I weigh 156 pounds and was squatting 295 for 5 reps the other day. This guy looks like he is EASILY 180, so when you put that into perspective this really isn't that much weight.

  • @snowshark84 You're calling a Navy SEAL small?

  • What is the schedule for the workouts? How many times/week for each workout?

  • Someone in the Navy struggling to OHP 95 lbs?

  • Well if they had bench press also they would have covered the 3 primes exercises...!!!

  • Is this not Ripptoe/Bill Star strength wo
