  • man, i got an elementary question. i heard that i can put any pc or laptop ram to my mpc for upgrade is it true? or necessarily akai EXM128 ram??

  • yes, you want laptop ..... in fact, I just put mine in while looking at your question. I got mine off ebay for a little over $11.00(brand new). The name of the store is EveryUpgrade

  • whats that other 32 pin slot plug up, next to the RAM slot, yo

  • could some one please tell me could u use laptop ram in the mpc1000 im new at this

  • dont buy akai ram, buy kingston KVR133X64SC3/256 search for it on google;)

  • yeah akai ram is expesive

  • I got that one, but when I turn my mpc on it says, 128 installed, with SODIMM ERROR through the screen and than it freezes... whats up with that?

  • ey im new with this mpc thing

i just copp the 3k..can i upgrade my memory with standar computer ram?

  • Hello,

I just bought an MPC1000 to find out that it doesnt work at times. It sometimes freezes and the pads dont work. Does somebody know what the problem is or how can i fix it? and also is there a reset button on the MPC?

    Thankyou, really appreciate it !

  • EVERYBODY! something is bothering me. look at the video in time 2:10. what is that? an IDE or scsi port under the memory? and what is it for? I called akai and the techs don't even know or they may be lying for future upgrades.does anyone know?

  • this guy must sniff coke! snuffalufagus.

  • where do i get the ram from since it has to be akai made ?

  • once again-Akai does NOT make rams.they buy it then atick thier name on it.becouse they want you to buy from the.this ram really costs $10.00 - it is a 128MB PC100 100Mhz sodimm.check it on ebay.its older laptop memory.don't be tricked -do research-Knowledge is king! and save cash too.why buy milk when i can buy the damn cow?

  • Shitt!! Just got mine in the mail today paid three times that price..ah well came with a cd of a bunch of pretty descent samples.

  • thats the trick!what you cant sample your own shit? LOL - hey man all you had to do was do a little more research and you woulda saved some cash.Thats why i love the fact that i grew up dirt poor in the ghetto, cause you get real smart real quick! good luck tho -glad you got it.Now go to your room and make beats!

  • Hey now at least i didn't opt for the $200 dollars they would have charged if i got it installed when I got the thing. I was at least smart enought to check out ebay.

  • yeah - you got that! I used to work in sam ash music years ago and i seen some people do some pretty weird things.but when you really look at it,it aint that bad. we are just talking about some memory here.its not like you baught a house or something.i just wish sometimes that akai would stop their bullshit and explain to the masses what they really have and what they are doing becouse at the end of they day consumers are being hurt and its not fair.

  • Yeah, There's bullshit everywhere there's money. Greedy fucks.

  • Yeah AKAI doesn't make the ram, so easy and cheap to put it in yourself. I think it's PC133 not 100 though. I might be off.

  • PC133 144PIN CL3 SODIMM 256MB

  • @myself 256mb if you dont use the AKAI memory.

  • Hey man I just bought a 256mb pc133 sodimm from kingston for my mpc1000 and when I install it the screen just comes up blank and freezes. Can ya help me out?

  • It won't work. Remove it! MPC's use only propritary ram from Akai. The max you can use is 128 mb. You have to purchase ram made by Akai. Sorry...

  • Not true. I have had the MPC 1000 & 2500 and upgraded both of them with Kingston 256MB ram. Worked like a charm

  • I've heard it both ways. I take my earlier statement/post about it not working back. That's just what I heard, that you need to use Akai RAM modules. I guess install it at your own discrection as it probably voids a warranty...

  • I hope so, I just got mine in the mail from some guy and it says 256mb. Cost me 30-40 bucks but ah well.

  • naw son! i'm gonns buy my own too.u shoulda got 128mb-just to be sure.but most important pc100mhz not 133.that ram is for faster computer.mpc is not a computer.i'm getting mines for 10.00 off ebay.(get a 128MB PC100 100Mhz sodimm).peace!

  • how much sampling time does that add on??

  • What you been snorting man, stop the sniffing up its a give away

  • Were can i find somebody insatlling the EB16 FX board for the 2000XL

  • thats sick mayne! good lookin'. I just bought mine last week off ebay, but it came with no manual!! Shitty

  • thanks a lot!

  • Good info Hommie! 1 SMIDI

  • LOL not even close I was sick.

  • Forget the memory....Decongestant is your friend?

  • Everyone seems to be installing 128MB of memory... can i install 256MB on my MPC1000????

  • The MPC only handles up to 128MB of RAM. But it only reads one side of the stick. So you have two options: (1) Buy the stick from AKAI with 128MB all on one side or (2) But a stick of 256MB from another company. Either way, it will only reach 128MB.

  • Those tan plastic tabs holding down the stick of RAM by the sides are fragile! So if your RAM doesn't seat properly, don't try and pry them way apart like I did. I snapped em both and we had to bust out the krazy glue to get them back on my MPC1000. They're not as strong as what you would expect from a PC motherboard for example. Thanks for the video.

  • nice i been tryin 2 put mine in put it would neva go now i no when it snapz thankz

  • Good vid. I don't use one of these, nor have I ever...but this is useful nonetheless. :) Thanks.
