  • @antiteista83

how could someone #1 DISLIKE this & #2 even if they didnt purposely HATE on it (lol)

I doubt any of yall LOVE or LIKE ... UNDERGROUND HIP HOP also like ME .... but if you do FRENCH MONTANA just SAMPLED this in a song called (*DO IT*) .. well actually HARRY FRAUD made the beat so he SAMPLED it & HARRY FRAUD is a GREAT HIP HOP PRODUCER

  • This movie goes from 3 stars to 4 stars soley on the soundtrack it just works. I mean just look at the intro when it's all done and they're driving away where I presume is lower Wacker dr Chicago..

  • Loved the remix of this featured @ the end of the movie The Soldier, a 1982 Ken Wahl flick, played after they jumped the Berlin wall in a Porsche, classic!!!

  • @illadvised50 YES dude. That's the one. So fucking dope. And thanks to you, I just discovered there were TWO soundtracks, the original OST and then a second one with bonus Chris Franke cuts, which included "Frank Gets Set-Up"....thank you!

  • @JustinBoldaji - No problem. Glad you found it! I also post as "MrHereWeGoYo" and uploaded the song. When I saw that someone else uploaded it the same day I thought it was a hell of coincidence. Then I realized it was you! haha I'm going to take my clip down.

  • lovely (-:

  • For me this was Tangerine Dream's finest ever line-up with Chris Franke, Johannes Schmoelling working alongside the main man! At this point they had such amazing ideas and the albums were masterpieces- among them TANGRAM, THIEF, EXIT, WHITE EAGLE & LOGOS! They have to be the greatest german Rock band ever!

  • has anybody else noticed that the chord at 1:37 is the same as the chord from the song 'Tom Sawyer' by Rush. did rush sample this?

  • if you like this song look for the other great one on this soundtrack called CONFRONTATION. it was the song played in the very last scene of the movie. Great instrumental.

  • Amazing stuff, but I grew up with the vinyl version of this song, and this one sounds pale by comparison. Thinner, not as majestic. Perhaps that's what they wanted...

But thanks, TD, anyway. Awesome stuff.

  • Astounding ... boy do I miss the 70's and 80's music.

  • one of the best ever made

  • Does ANYONE have the song that plays right after he demands the rest of his money from Leo and storms out? That is the single best Tangerine Dream cut I've ever heard, and from the digging I've been able to do, it's not on the OST at all. Anyone?

  • @JustinBoldaji that would be the song " Confrontation" I have it on mp3 it should be found prtty easily though. great instrumental.

  • Awesome tune... remember seeing TD Live in the 70s thyey played this lie and as an electronic/synth musician I was Knocked out by it

  • i remember some years ago i had trouble sleeping - switched the tv on flicking aimlessly thru the channels and then i heard this exact theme and all i could do was think WOW what an amazing peice of music score that was and i decided to download the whole fucking lot and also the whole movie :) it was meant to be i think..

  • still jawdropping, i used to check this out on vinyl from my junior high library in 1986 as a 7th grader and my friends thought i was crazy, thanks for posting!

  • buenisimo

  • This happens to be one of my favorite movie of all time....thank you for this..

  • SO MUCH beautiful music was made for this film!! Tangerine Dream were spectacular at producing soundtracks in these times.

  • Where can I get this. I have been looking everywhere

  • where did you get the sound track?

  • From the moment I saw this film to this very day.....Tuesday Weld walking along the beach holding the child, surf rolling in, wind tossed blonde hair, pretty smile.....surf rolling in, sunshine......seared a mark that has lasted almost 30 years........

  • @mysweeteventhorizon ....love that scene as well.Tuesday weld was perfect for the part..she is so happy there...

great stuff in the movie...I actually learned a life lesson from it that stuck with me for 30 years...Willie nelson said it..

  • In the late 1970s I went to see Tangerine Dream at Preston Guild Hall with my best mates wife??? and his cousin... this was the final piece they played... and I thought..." I want to play that on those Moog Synths..." still gives me goose bumps.. especially sat at traffic lights playing this at full volume in my Porsche 911 Turbo.... YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • TANGERINE DREAM , ESPECTACULAR, SU MUSICA HACE QUE NUESTROS SENTIDOS SEAN ABIERTOS Y LLEVADOS A UN CLIMAX AUDITIVO Y DONDE TU MENTE TRASPASA EL UMBRAL DE LO COMUN A LO UNIVERSAL. GRACIAS TANDREAM POR TU GRAN MUSICA

  • To be a Thief walking on The Beach ............ Wow how Tangerine Dream gives such brilliance to a scene!!! The Eighties where originality was at its finest pinnacle!!!

  • no será tan espectacular, pero esa guitarra llega a los rincones más ocultos donde se encuentran las sensaciones pocas veces experimentadas por el ser humano.....

  • One of Tangerine's Dream best works...second only to "Miracle Mile"

  • The best,never 2 b duplicated!!!

  • fantasticaaaaa!!!

  • This musical composition sounds out of this world!

Thank you very much for posting it, FallingDown08!

  • Truly a great tune for an even greater movie. When this song is played in the movie it truly shows the epitamy of a job well done. James Caan's character relaxes and knows he made it finally. Sad that he is betrayed but he takes care of business like no other character in any movie before or since. Love this Movie!!!!!!!

  • im 29 years old born 1-2-81 & im just about to watch this movie for the first time in about 45 minutes after I burn it using NERO VISION 10 (t.m.i) & I was just searching for a song to use in the menu part from the soundtrack & thier all good but this one is mesmerizing likea mufucka aka great instrumental. I might have to research TD more

  • @RUSSTRADAMUS I envy you for just starting out on a discovery of TD ,im 47 and i found them in 1981 , been on a mind blowing trip ever since , find a dark room and turn the volume up , u dont need drugs , just good speakers enjoy my friend .

  • @SIRSMITH08

yeah TD definitly got some compositions or instrumentals that make me zone out the ending song of THIEF is classic also & MANHUNTER another MICHAEL MANN film has a couple good score songs but it aint TD

I was shcoked to learn TD did the score for DEAD SOLID PERFECT an HBO golf movie but they did okay in it also (lol) yeah but drugs will only enhance the listening pleasure right ??

  • @SIRSMITH08

I love the satisfied but tired look on JAMES CANN face as BELUSHI bags the diamonds after opening the safe & this plays

  • @RUSSTRADAMUS I hear u , Thief is a great movie with great soundtrack , it made me want to turn to crime lol , the bad guys always have better music , TD also did a movie with Tom cruise back in the 80s i think a kids film ,? and if u go to toms web site he has TD playing i think its love on a moving train , i keep asking radio shows to play any TD track but none have yet ,they keep sticking pink floyd on ,its about time DJs got to know the difference !

  • @SIRSMITH08

yeah I always wanted to be a gangster as a kid (lol) fuck being a doctor, lawyer, astronaut, PINK FLOD is the shit also but yeah radio only plays popular stuff they dont take any risk or go against the grain thats why I never listen to the radio I always have a store boguth or burnt cd playing in my house or car

  • Everytime I hear this, I just want to break down and cry. It reminds me of what my life used to be.

  • @SchutzstaffelAnarchy

cheer up life is a roller coaster

when your up it never seems as good as it is & when your down you never think you will be up again

    THATS LIFE

"flying high in april, shot down in may"

  • Its a shame that things like this are so hard to come by. Another example of Youtube becoming something of a cultural archive.

  • In the early 1980s, TD made more soundtracks than almost any other real music band. Some of them sounded quite similar, but the music for "Thief" is special - and of course, this "Beach Theme/Scene" is so catchy and memorable that it could've been a chart hit back then. Another special TD film soundtrack is "The Keep" (1983), and also the very gloomy "Sorcerer" (1976). In general, I think they were great until Chris Franke left the band in 1987. "Green Desert", "Rubycon" and "Stratosfear" rocks!

  • @eurositi Croydon aswell.

  • The first time I heard this piece I quietly cried. Laying alone in my dark apartment, watching the stars. Okay, so I was a little chemically "enhanced". Thank you Dr. Leary.

  • @TeamTia This seems to be an appropriate soundtrack for the occasion.

  • Good one, tangerine RULEZ!!!!!!!

  • great soundtrack and a really really good James Caan movie. one of his best.

  • Sweet, I have the soundtrack CD but it doesn't have this full length version on it. Nice one.

  • glad someone noted that their from germany and not england. have all there albums, old school.

  • detoit loves for crap . you sling words around like a monkey throws his fecal matter.block me ? you are the one who challenged me!

  • Sick track, and movie.

  • the music makes fly trough the space...

  • I love the way their music makes me feel, genius stuff.

  • listen to Ozric Tentacles. They are a holistic psychedelic prog rock band from england. They are similar to Melting Euiphoria and Hawkwind and Gong.

  • love the beginning and the guitars & synthesizers

  • I know movies that of which the respective soundtracks were composed of by Tangerine Dream are to some degree very resplendent cinema above all in my opinion such films as "The Sorcerer" (1977), "The Keep"

(1983), "Legend" (1985), and "Miracle Mile" (1988) are very entertaining. Tangerine Dream propels films into another whole arena of cinema mysticism with their superb esoteric mystical brilliance in musical wonder. I've seen "The Thief" but TD makes the film RADICAL!!! Love TD!! Germany!!!

  • Don' forget "Near Dark" in 87

  • Love this scene when James Caan pulls up a chair infront of the fault and pulls out a cigarette while Belushi is packing the bags full of the diamonds. A feeling of great success.

  • a full version of this awesome track. have the U.S vinyl. short edit of the beach theme on it.

  • This movie is awesome one of my favorites..the soundtrack is also quite good.

  • Da 30 anos que no esqucio el tema.

    Bellissimo ! Lindo !

oy 04.06.2009 en Udine nord-est Italia

  • thanks for this! This was on the UK CD from Virgin, but not the US, which instead had Craig Safron's Confrontation as an exclusive

  • Thanks for posting! Priceless tune from a priceless flick!

  • Nice tune!
