okay, because I am considering sogang or the university of Ulsan, but Ulsan doesn't have as much of a foreign population or nightlife, so I was leaning more towards Sogang, mostly because it is in the heart of Seoul and I'm sure we'd be able to have a better time in Seoul.
@zcampbell03 I went to sogang to get away from a lot of the typical "foreigners." Seoul definitely has a night life, especially in that area. If you want to hang with more foreigners, Yonsei is the way to go.
It was something like 11 p.m. on weekdays and 12 a.m. on weekends. You didn't have to get permission to sleep somewhere else on the weekends and a lot of students would just stay out all night.
@meema1 What's the curfew???? My friend and I are planning to go to Sagong Korean imerrsion program exchange and we might stay in the dorms. My friend wanst to hang out all night in seoul. What kind of food do you eat at the dorms?
@JazzyXEdward The answer is 2 posts above but I'll copy and paste it for you :) - "It was something like 11 p.m. on weekdays and 12 a.m. on weekends. You didn't have to get permission to sleep somewhere else on the weekends and a lot of students would just stay out all night."
They had a rule about no drinking in the dorms, but I know they made a lot of exceptions. There are quite a few bars within just a few minutes walk that a lot of students would go to.
hey dude, I'm thinking of doing an exchange to sogang in the fall. Whats the policy on drinking/partying at the university? Being a catholic university I'd assume its pretty strict..?
@meema1 Could you send me that separate comment ? I'm part of a catholic university in France, but we don't have very much rules about partying.. Thanks !
Do you know where the schools sticks the summer language program students? I'm planning on being there this June.... I've heard that the dorms are kind of on the crap side....
Last I heard, all foreign exchange students will be placed in the Gonzaga dormitory, not the Bellarmino Dormitory, which is shown in this video. But it might be different for the summer language program.
If you want more space, maybe you could apply for the Gonzaga dormitory.. it's HUGe compared to that lil space.. of course i'm still applying for that 'lil space' cuz it's much cheaper -_-
They were in the middle of constructing the Gonzaga building when I was there. Last I heard, foreign students didn't have a choice regarding which dorm they can stay in - I was told that they would all be housed in the new building.
Depending on when you go to Sogang, you may be staying in a different dormitory. They are currently building a whole new dorm and I think it's supposed to be finished Fall of 2008.
Thanks for this video, i'll be studying abroad at Sogang in February!!!

If you're coming to learn Korean, make sure you specify that you want to live on a Korean floor, not the English floor.
