  • I like Dwight his music and voice and I love the way he plays guitar but i am a little shocked he laid back on the guitar and mostly just sang just saying

  • A great performance and a beautiful song.

  • All i can say is WOW....two of my favorite artists singing together....... Check out Alison on youtube singing James Taylor Carolina in my mind.... she knocks it out of the park.

  • what a wonderful wonderful song

  • ...with how much emotions she plays her fiddle...incredible! Soul from it's best...

  • this gives me goose bumps...absolutely love both of these musicians but together they blow me away!

  • Jesus hates this song

  • @Skoomaheadmrmush Jesus Alou has this song in his playlist 'mi favoritas' so that means he likes it.

  • @dugitomi jesus doesn't have a playlist and if he did this song definitely wouldn't be on there because he hates it

  • @Skoomaheadmrmush I suppose he told you this personally, via telepathy or mystical experience. if you actually heard his voice say this, as sound waves transmitted from his mouth and detected by your hearing apparatus as words, i think i understand. and if that's so, was it difficult to learn Aramaic? and would it be within your intellectual range to explain why Mr. Christ hates this song? if however, you happen to be the Messiah, then you don't need to explain why. I'll take your word for it.

  • @dugitomi you think say i have an intellectual range yet you follow blindly to a biased monotheistic religon that should have died out a hundred years ago yet ignorance has sustained it to this day. you may think you are intelligent but until you start thinking for yourself you are just a sheep being herded

  • they are very good together alisons voice is perfect yes and i love the sounds of dwight I just wish he wouldnt purposly not"pronounce his words" he does that in all his songs and he would be so many times better if he would stop doing that his voice is great and they sing great together

  • Love how Dwight compliments rather than overpowers Alison's devine vocals. Perfection.

  • @nwcrislo You have this all wrong. Nobody can overpower Alison . She is the power of this and all songs she sings.

  • I wish I could find a love like Johnny and June had.

  • Could they please record this? I love Johnny Cash and June's version but this works so well!

  • Could the person who accidentally pressed dislike please fix their mistake.

  • The song's composer Tim Hardin (who died over 30 years ago) would surely be pleased to hear his song performed so well, lo these many years later.

  • was that impressed the first time i heard her sing i went n got an album. already had some of Dwight's stuff :)

  • Alison's voice is as sweet as honey and as smooth as silk, and Dwight's voice is as rich as chocolate...... what a truly perfect pairing. Simply sensational.

  • @pandagirl1983 i agree!

  • What's awesome about this video is I saw Dwight on Friday of this week at a little bar in Louisville, KY. I was about 10 feet from the stage. He played a solo acoustic set and did every song that's he recorded (and a few he hasn't) about Kentucky.

  • It's not only his voice that conveys such a feeling, it's also his charming way he performs the songs and his presence on stage.

    Very sweet - thank you.

  • WOW! That's all there is to say.

  • I BET DWIGHT WOULD HAVE HER BABY,,LORD KNOWS ID HAVE 10 WITH HER,,YUMMY

  • I loved it ! Wonderful!

  • Dwight Yoakam - the best male country singer around today (and for the last twenty years in my humble opinion), and Alison Krauss, the best female vocalist in any genre, period, in a duet! God, how great would it be for them to do an album together.

  • @2duppycon YOU ARE CORRECT,,IT WOULD BE A HELL OF AN ALBUM--WONDER WHY THEY NEVER TRIED IT

  • i like it

  • Wow....Anyome know if theres a CD out there with this??

  • Dwight has a beautiful voice and nice eyes. Allison sings like an angle. Dwight also made an amazing CD with K.D. Lange. Their voices soared

  • Thank you very much for your comment. It's great to share good music and to find incredible shows on youtube. It's the future of television. Saludos!

  • Thank you very much for Sharing!

What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!

Keep up the good work. Hope You Are Having A Splendid Day!

    A New Friend

    Erick

  • So beautiful - and so different from Robert Plant - fortunately

  • What a gorgeous tribute..thanks for sharing!

  • This is the only video recording left of this that I can find on the web. I can only imagine that Johnny & June and Tim Hardin must be so moved by this tribute. Thank you so much for posting.

  • Oh my God, to hear Dwight sing those words...pretty much just melted my heart.

  • Great combo and tribute to the Man in Black...Johnny Cash said he liked the ILK of Dwight...Allison is just as good.

  • You really owe it to yourself to see Dwight live. Great writer and performer. I'm sure Allyson is just as good.

  • I never get tired of listening to these two sing this song. It's beautiful and thank you so much for posting!

  • I would pay some serious money to get this version on a clean mp3. So pretty I can't even...

  • Is there any way we could get them to do some more duets together they really are beautiful together.

  • Alison gets such a beautiful far away look when she plays.

  • This is simply a beautiful version of a great song. Yoakam's and Krauss' voices together are nothing short of angelic .

Johnny and June I'm sure would've approved!

  • Awsome! love these two together

  • This is so great - thank you so much for posting this

  • Dwight's voice just takes your breath away here!

  • It ABSOLUTELY gets no better than this, Allison and Dwightt sing a Johny and June duet. Ten Stars if possible.

  • I think the genius behind this version of this song is Ron Block. Superb guitar picker with a huge imagination.

  • Listen to her very soulful fiddleplaying - I think it touches also the hearts of Jonny and June...

A great version of this beautiful tune so many tried to do but failed. Why we can not have more of it instead of the crap of today?

May they r.i.p. - they all are connected and watch us...

  • Gotta love it.

  • i remember when this was on tv. is this on tv?

  • It was a tribute show some years ago.

  • @varmitrifle

No, this is on youtube on your computer.

  • Alison and Dwight are playing "If I Were A Carpenter" in the Key I like to play it in: The Key of G: 5D-4C-1D-6mEm .

  • Next to the original...this has to be the best.

  • does anyone know where I can get this so I can put it on my ipod? This is amazing

  • What can anyone say here but thank you. I cry everytime I watch these two. The camera angle looking past them as they sing this with Johnny & June's famous potraits is amazing as is thier tribute version of this classic. Thanks to both of them.

  • Thank you for the comment!

  • i love alison...but i really love dwight!!!! this is wonderful!!! love alison's fiddle break. as a fiddle player and singer both of these amazing artists are influences of mine. amazing! thanks for posting!!! :)

  • What CD is this on because I cant find it anywhere?

  • Unfortunately, this is not on CD. It's one of those moments that take place in tributes on TV.

  • Well then, thanks all the more for posting this. It really showcases the magnificent crystal tone of Alison's voice. Dwight and Alison compliment each other well. For a totally different take, look to the small faces version of this song. Magnificent.

    Anyway, thanks for posting.

  • This is not on cd. It was a tribute show on TV. Sorry.

  • I love Dwight's tenor and Alison sings like an angel. Wonderful together.

  • Listen to the version of the Dutch band Tefiter, great!!

  • I love this.

  • Dwight did a great job! He is my musical hero!!!

  • My musical hero is Johnny Cash. The one that Dwight is doing a tribute to.

  • ...tim hardins wunderbare ballade...generationen von interpreten haben diesen song zu einem evergreen der besonderen klasse werden lassen...alison kraus und dwight yoakam - eine der besten "covers" dieses songs...

  • Dwight was great soloing (great voice), but he was hanging on for dear life trying to harmonize with AK (like many who try harmonizing with AK). She is always spot on.

  • I agree that Dwight's harmonizing was spare, but I'm not sure he was struggling. I'm sure they had at least one rehearsal where they worked out the arrangement, and he had time to consider his part. And he sang essentially the same thing each time, which gives me the impression that was what they wanted (a lot of open fifths, nothing fancy). BTW, you are spot on about Alison. She's a genius.

  • I think it is hard for anyone to hold their own with her. I think Johnny and June would have love their version.
