The exterior buttons have now been changed and an interior side panel has been added a real improvement.

Just an update the control panel is due to replaced soon as it's so warn out the numbers can barely be read anymore.

Oh thats intresting, By the way the PDERS Lift at WHSMITH In southend is still Out of order and the Moter room is Boarded up. Looks Like it wont be in service ever again

@jdtayloruk It has now been replaced with a secondary panel on the oposite wall, new speaker holes have been drilled into the panel as well.

I work in Bury WHS too and your video made me laugh!! Personally, I am scared of that lift!

Well, I was in on Monday but not before but I must admit I do have numerous contacts where I can confirm this kind of information. I do believe though it's due for wqork anyway as it's not real;ly legal spec and the audio is so basic it needs changes. One thing though, Waterstones do use a very nmicer indepdent lift company Accord Lift Services and their lifts, I think are the best in Cambridge at the moment, but they still need tweaking as they've got a couple of blips.

The one in Cambridge is similar style but under the Kone name, with very basic audio although I believe both lifts may soon be having modifcations made to their control panels for DDA Act compliance as neither lift really complies at present.

I have a very similar lift in my apartment building. The differences are that it has a two speed door and a different indicator (an OTIS one) but it has the same chime and buttons. The lift is called the Express Evans Hydroglide (a hydraulic system), this is an older one as OTIS merged with Express Evans and unlike the one in my building this hasn't been re-badged.

oh yes i know them hydroglide lifts there for apartement building and these are like for retail strores like this one whsmith,thanks for the comment

Really i got a very funny feeling that they were rebadged because there is one of them in chelmsford what had otis buttons but were just had a sticker put over it but is it a gen2 or a 2000. thanks nice to know that my idea was correct

Also the chime sounds like an Otis, except it has a higher pitch.
