The last 2 weeks of Phys Ed at school we played ultimate frisbee ( high school)
and i got really hooked. i need suggestions. Watched your hammer throw video
(where you compared two different Hammers) and during the game threw a beautiful one. i need help on everything except for thumbers. Please post a video with help.
If you know where i can find a great frisbee for amateur playing... THANKS!
@IllinoisGaming If you're going the ultrastar route(which you should) you can get custom white discs in bulk pretty cheap. When I ordered practice discs for our club, I think it cost 4-6$ ea (50 min). If you're going over 100 I would call Discraft, they give really awesome bulk order discounts.
Does it matter about the type of frisbee, like would a better frisbee make you throw further/better? if so what sorta firsbee's would you recommend dude? P.S you're awesome. lol
I think that you would have developed your own technique even though its maybe not ideal it works for you and thats why this was awkward for you but still your pretty sick with a Frisbee and I love the vids~!!
There are really only a couple factors that complete a long throw. Speed at which the disc leaves your hand, spin on the disc. Details during your wind up are not important. What IS important is that you're using your entire body to generate the most speed and spin possible. That said, YES, there are good suggestions for helping a person make speed and spin happen. But it still all comes down to the end effect.
ive never really been interested in ultimate frisby until i saw this im gonna be a senior in highschool and i was just wondering whats the best way to start playing this?
I actually have Gerics on video tape from about 12 years throwing backhand pulls. That was a few years past his prime (and back injury) but it's still an awesome pull. Gerics has the best pull I've seen in college, but I've hardly seen every single college player....
As I remember Gerics' pull, it really wasn't how he was describing it in his note. He kept his left hand on the disc through his body rotation, threw the disc with much more angle, and kicked out his trailing right leg.
@chaskerr4 In the book "The Inner Game of Tennis" they talk about how a lot of good athletes can't accurately describe what they do. In fact, they'll sometimes explain how they do something totally different from how they actually do it.
For a portion of the stuff, it really does come down to personal preference. I have a very broad upper body, and going so far back with two hands is more uncomfortable. I do agree with Brodie on changing the strength of the grip from throw to throw. For dumping and swing, I usually have a relatively loose grip. For underneath passes, it depends on the wind, the defense and other factors. But everyone should agree that hucking requires a tight grip.
I think it's stupid people try to say there are exact ways and exact motions that someone should go through. It's completely different for everybody based on body type, sports background, and just how comfortable something feels for them. There are general suggestions, but arguing on nitty-gritty things... Foolish.
@biblicalsoultaker I completely agree. I have tried to say multiple times that this is what works well for me and might not work so great for you. But the majority of the stuff I teach are the fundamentals that you need to have to be a great thrower. Thanks for the comment.

Having 2 hands on the disc for longer in my opinion is definitely better for accuracy.

Is that the width of a soccer field? Im practicing hucking across the distance of the width of a soccer field.

@mattyfattee its about 80 yards

Two of the better backhand throwers I know grip the disc with both hands until release on their hucks. (Parker Krug and Derek Gottlieb).
