i accidentally placed my charger end that goes into the zune, into water, i then plugged it in not knowing i did that, and now my zune is not turning on, did i fry the battery?

@sinnersinc91 Hmmm,. difficult to say what exactly fried. Will the computer recognize it at all? Its possible motherboard, dock port, or battery damage.

I think I have a 2nd generation 80gb, and I have been told that I will need a soldering iron to replace my battery. Is this true? Also, will I loose all of my music if I replace the battery. Thanks for the sight it is very helpful. :)

@mightyme87 Yes, the 80GB requires some simply soldering. You will not loose you music etc. This is all stored on the hard drive.

My zune Got water inside of it and i took it apart and dried as much as i could and let it dry over night too, so when i put it back together, still didnt work i think the water might have got into the battery so when i plugged it in the next day it started to click (Zune). Any ideas on how i might be able to fix it? if it did get into the battery can i get the battery from my 80 gb and put it into the 30gb?

Got by replacement 30Gb Zune battery from you guys back in December. I didn't replace my original Zune battery until just now. Much to my surprise, the zune immediately had power, from a battery that has been sitting in a warehouse for god knows how long, and in my room for 6 months. Thanks guys! bought the battery for the 80 gig...comes with bare wires. must be soldered. video is a bunch of crap...case was almost impossible to open. video shows it opening so simple ...buyer be!!!!!!!ware

I got my zune from a friend, and I'm pretty sure it's not 3 years old but the battery won't last much... barely an hour and it's starting to annoy me =(

Yes, mine has just been two years since i got it. suddenly it only lasts like two hours. I've taken really good care of it so I'd much rather replace the battery than buy a new one. Although the Zune HD would be sweet.

I just got a 120gb a month ago. Best Buy told me that the battery will not last much more than a year and that it will cost about $80 to have Microsoft replace it each time, and suggested I get a two year service plan for $70, which would take care of two battery replacements and cover any damage due dropping, water, etc. Could someone tell me if the plan is a good idea or a waste of money (as many service plans are)? I use it for primarily music. I generally played it for 3-9 hours a day. About 10min to 2 hours of video a week.

my zune 30g lasted about 3 years after constant use and probably would continue working(but i lost it=( )

idk how the zune 120g holds its life however

i would just buy a hard case and wait for the day i need to change the battery and buy one of microsoft and put it in myself

I got the same problem 1 week ago...if you got the frozen screen, dont charge anymore the device and then the screen will have the low batery sign and then try to waste the batery life til the end, til you press any botton and the device dont response, then charge it :) it supposed to work because it resets automaticaly

Please tell me that it is possible to open my 4G Zune. Because I was trying to update my Zune with software 3.0 and it froze my Zune completely to the point that I cannot even do the reset combo. Where do you get the pry tool that you used? the kit that you show at the beginning only has two screw drivers and the battery.
