What ever he was good or bad, he was a better man than the ones that lead to their people and their country into the distruction that somalia is in it. History should serve as a lesson. If Siyaad Barre was bad during his time and he had caused considerable harm and horrors to the people, then it should unite them to stave off potential, future horrors. However, if people dwell in the past and not reason beyond emotion, we risk seeing another Siyaad or worse. We should look beyond the petty differences and the pride-driven emotions. Same way other ethnicities have overcome. It might be hard for a Somali to think such a way, but it's worth a try.
