  • required the people (I say) to take example at them for amendment of their ungodly lives, and gladly obey the King in all things, for whose preservation they did heartily pray, and willed all people so to do, commending their souls to God and earnestly calling for mercy upon Him, whom I beseech to give us grace with such faith, hope, and charity, at our departing out of this miserable world, to come to the fruition of his Godhead in joy everlasting. Amen.

  • they desired all Christian people to take regard unto their worthy and just punishment with death, for their offences against God heinously from their youth upward, in breaking of all his commandments, and also against the King’s royal majesty very dangerously; wherefor they, being justly condemned (as they said), by the laws of the realm and Parliament, to die,

  • And for news from hence, know ye, that, even according to my writing on Sunday last, I see the Queen and the lady Retcheford suffer within the Tower, the day following; whose souls (I doubt not) be with God, for they made the most godly and Christians’ end that ever was heard tell of (I think) since the world’s creation, uttering their lively faith in the blood of Christ only, with wonderful patience and constancy to the death, and, with goodly words and steadfast countenance,

  • She actually didn't say "I would rather die the wife of thomas Culpepper"

A far more historically likely account of Katherine’s last words was written on February 15, 1542, by the merchant Ottwell Johnson in a letter to his brother John. After discussing some herrings and wine he had bought for his mother and some business matters, Ottwell wrote:

  • 3.56 did anybody know why she's naked?

  • Henry VIII was played by Marlo Brando it seems!

  • Why did lady rotchford die? I'm from the Uk so havent seen series 4 yet :( please tell, and I swear she had blonde hair in series 1-2

  • @ahamiltonx She died for aiding Kitty in her endeavours with her lover, and also for lying about Anne Boleyn and George Boleyn. She did have blonde hair in series 2 and 3 but they changed it in Season Four for some reason.

  • How I hate Henry... let me count the ways.

  • I hated Lady Rotchford - in this programme it is her fault that Katherine and Thomas got together in the first place - she thought it would get Katherine in trouble, not her. I really liked Queen Katherine, she was my favourite Queen!!! Tamzin played her PERFECTLY I think - so young and naive - its so sad she died so young.

  • I think Catherine saying "Life is very beautiful" was her way of dealing with her execution. I think the wife of culpepper line was her way of saying "screw you Henry."

  • One thing I really do like about Katherine Howard is that she never put on a pretense. She never pretended to be religous or a serious politician. She was a child. And all of those people who call her a stupid slut, I wonder just how many thing's all of us have done that would have placed our pretty little heads right on mad Henry's block had we been in her place. But ah well...rest in peace, sweet little fool.

  • Jane certainly has a pretty head, don't you think?

  • Is it just me or does Katherine look very old at 1:08?

  • @crazyloverofcats: I noticed that too, but then again, Katherine's knowing that things would not end well for her must have -and understandably so- drain her of her youth and vitality. As it was sadly portrayed in this episode and in historical accounts, Katherine was definitely more mature upon her death than she was in her life.

  • This was pretty accurate except Catherine Howard died first than Jane. The Tudor's really makes you feel for Jane Parker. Julia Fox's biography showed Jane's true charater. Jane was only 35 when she was executed.

  • I know i just saw it on youtube and yeah it made me very sad to watch Catherine and Rochford die, as well as Dereum and Culpepper. I didn't like any of them much, but to see them die it was really sad. Also is it just me or is Henry taking long and loud gulps of his drink this season lol.

  • @mckfrr .

It isn't just you,he is taking long and loud gulps of his drink but then table manners were probably not his strong point.

  • i thought i wouldn't care for catherine's death but after watching it last night it made me a bit sad. i don't think she ever said the culpepper line but it was still good to insert that in, to go out with a bang, and seeing her friend smile at that, made me smile too-beautifully done!

  • @lostpinguin Well, one historian recorded it. People just say it's not true because it was an unlikely thing to say... She was supposed to ask forgiveness and say how great the king was and stuff like that. But I think it makes sense. It sounds like something she would say, after all. :)

  • @lostpinguin She had nothing left to lose.

  • @lostpinguin and @iluvhellokitty03, she did historically say 'I die a Queen, but I would rather die the wife of Culpepper.' Basically saying she loved him more than she ever loved Henry.

  • i thought it was wierd how she said life is very beautiful, it is unknown whether she said she would rather be the wife of culpepper. but overall i think tazmin merchant did a great job portraying catherine howard.
