  • I have a question, How did Daria become this sarcastic Daria?

  • sadly women like daria exist only in cartoons...

  • whats funnier is daria is talking about her own show

  • @Ascension100 that's a very good point

  • SHE came from Beavis and Butthead?!

  • Ha! Daria's a Cunt.

  • Daria got her own spin-off show? I had no idea.

  • Lady Gaga in a nutshell.

  • love daria's eyes :) 3

  • Love Daria, always honest and direct.

  • She ripped it.

  • edgy like information technology?

  • the whole concept of Lady Gaga in one quote

  • @xgmb45 I couldn't agree more.

  • I remember in high school I use to look the transcirpts for a lot of the episodes from Daira fan-based websites, and quote her all the time. She always had the best sarscasm on TV, and she was a non fictional animated character at that. Great show.

  • I forgot how witty this show was. Brilliant stuff.

  • she sounds like GLaDos

  • Daria: THE original Troll

  • If they exchanged Val with lady gaga, I wouldn't notice the difference... both idiots are pretending to be awesome role models while in fact they love making a big fat living out of their idiot fans.

What weirdo would desperately seek for attention? If she was a true 'queen of the weirdos' that moron would be herself instead of making a big fool out of herself just out of desperation.

  • @Neigebonbon i couldnt have said it better myself. Im 18 and only started watching daria in september when i first moved to college because i was just sick, as daria puts it, of my "youth culture". All those lame role models that everyone looks up to are just scummy pretentious assholes. I cant stand lady gaga and i hate how her stupid fans say im miserable. I keep telling myself the reason im so different is just because im a little more enlightened that the rest of my generation.

  • @667neighborofdabeast That's the spirit kiddo, don't be bothered by what crap they say. Real weirdos stay weird without desperately seeking attention, just be yourself. Everyone's weird in their own way... some are smart enough to be normally weird instead of being an attention seeker.

  • @Neigebonbon My brain read your comment in Jake's voice. Probably because of the "kiddo". I guess it was meant to be that way.

  • that was some pretty deep shit.

  • what

  • God damn! Tell it girl! lol

  • Vampire Diairies In a Nutshell.

  • Huey Freeman from "The Boondocks" would be a perfect boyfriend for Daria. They both have that "Observe the world when nobody cares" attitude.

  • @ProtomanX1701 He SO WOULD1 I catch "The Boondocks" now and again and LOVE Huey....he kills me.

  • im in love

  • MTV is so edgy

  • I watched this when I was 6?!!!

  • I recall this episode, and in the end, Daria let Val haveit, which angered Val to no end.

    Daria Forever, Val Never!

  • BAHAHAHAHA whatta legend!!!

  • WHAT IS THIS WORD? WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Won't SOMEBODY explain it to me?

  • I frigging love daria

  • they should create a new show called "Daria meets Jersey shore"

  • this is what they call lampshading

  • this is so meta it hurts i love it

  • I swear if I ever find a woman like Daria in real life,I'll marry her and live happily.

  • @BCoriginal1 but would she want to marry you....mmm I think Daria is a tough cookie

  • @natelios See with a woman of Daria's personality I feel that my humor and cheerfulness would win her over. Like I'd be the yin to her yang.

  • @BCoriginal1 you have my respect....go get her xD

  • @natelios like looking a dead puppy in a tutu

  • @BCoriginal1 I would think one would have to have the natural charisma and understanding of everything as Robin William's character in Good Will Hunting, with a body like Trent's. See what I can make out from Daria's character is that she is alot like Ben Aflek's character, Will, yet instead of using physical strength as a last resort, she recedes in a metaphoricaly obvious state of sarcasm, making her detestable to anyone she doesn't want to screw things up with. (stupid 500 character cap).

  • @BCoriginal1 So then you're like Trent. I always thought Daria ripped me off. Though I always say the same thing about Kurt Cobain. So basically I'm like Kurt mixed with Daria, Jane, and Trent.

  • @BCoriginal1 There is no way in hell that would work. You have no idea how to approach cynicism, do you?

  • @ThePizzaDeliveryBoy But Ted got along with her, despite his optimism.

  • @BCoriginal1 that may seem the case but her cynicism is so tough a diamond bladed chainsaw wouldn't be able to cut through it. Any attempt at humor that isn't anti social would make her tear you to pieces.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker Come on, Daria's not some kind of bully.

  • @Slashbash No but she doesn't like being forced into things she doesn't like to do. And if she had no choice she would either sabotage it or make it work in her favor.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker Yes, but she wouldn't tear a person apart unless they had it coming.

  • @BCoriginal1 keep dreaming buddy

  • @Moppy1988 I don't dream,I make realities unlike you,you sad nay-sayer.

  • @BCoriginal1 When you marry Daria, I'll be the first to congratulate you.

  • @natelios Na she's just plain, unnecessarily complicated. I understand that people need limits and not follow every crowd they see but sometimes she needs to open her mind a bit.

  • @BCoriginal1 marriage is the result of years of patriarchal female servitude, and what a sick sad world we live in when people look to a relatively stagnant fictional cartoon character for meaningful relationships and growth.

  • @sexdrugsRnR Marriage is a partnership,a union, not this whole master/slave trail of thought that's conveyed through countless forms of media(i.e television, movies) so if you think it's that then you'll be treated as such. I enjoy how you simply come out of left field calling me a quote on quote sick sad individual for stating how I'm fond of an animated character's personality, when you probably took the time out of your "glorious" life to say so. Oh the irony,oh the irony.

  • @BCoriginal1 yes, marriage is a partnership, like in a business or something. sorry, what does irony mean?

  • @sexdrugsRnR Marriage isn't some kind of slave relationship where a wife becomes a bounden slave and works like an indentured servant, you know. Just because it used to be that way doesn't mean that men and women can't enter into marriage as equals, in love and respect, and live happily and harmoniously all their days. Also, Daria wasn't stagnant. She developed quite a lot over the last couple of seasons.

  • @GaladedridDamodred yes, its about 'equality'

  • @BCoriginal1 My name is Darya not Daria just putting it out there lol:)

  • @BCoriginal1 "I swear if I ever find a woman like Daria in real life,I'll marry her and live happily."

    You serious?

  • @sweetalker79 I'm dead serious bro.

  • @BCoriginal1 I'll just say then that a certain Mr. Felton was very interested in my high school career, how I turned down his offer as asst. writer with a pretty damning speech at a kiss-ass function, how I wore glasses and comfortable shoes without irony, how my best friends were a tall, unconventionally beautiful artist who lived with her dope-smoking musician brother and her hippie mother, and a popular cheerleader who never understood when I was mocking her.

    Sure you could handle Daria?

  • @sweetalker79 Yes I most certainly can quote on quote handle a woman like Daria.

  • @BCoriginal1 The phrase is 'quote/unquote' and you don't need to use the phrase when typing, as you can just put quotes around what you want (e.g. you can "handle" a woman like Daria)

  • Comment removed

  • @BCoriginal1 wanna get married. LOL J/K

  • @BCoriginal1 She's smart, but she comes out really closed-minded and I wouldn't be surprised if you ended up in the news because you committed a really gruesome suicide.

She's not bad, she really helps me improve myself. I do have my own principles and ethics but sometimes when I think of Daria I open up my mind a little more.

  • @Neigebonbon I'm never one to lose my head over a lady. I live by the philosophy/joke "I'll keep getting them wrong until I eventually get it right." Besides I always found myself attracted to intelligent women with some looks to back it up.

  • @BCoriginal1 I'll be okay with that as long as I get Jane.

  • @BCoriginal1 :l People here think I'm like Daria. But, mneeeeh.

  • don't know what she was talking about

  • Funny. A guy I worked with back in the early nineties told me "today's alternative is tomorrow's pop music. " Prophetic....

  • so fine, like i like her...so true !!! :D

  • I LOVE HER SO MUCH. <3

  • NEW YORK PROCESSOR THE SECRET LIFE OF BUILDINGS GUESS INTERNATIONAL INSTRUCTION MANUAL ALICIA KEYS@GOING HOME

  • I remember this episode of Daria. I really enjoyed Daria giving her trademark speeches with brutal honesty. She never tolerated so-called "celebrities" (Val from this episode or two radio DJ's from Jake of Hearts episode).

  • I miss watching daria :(

  • DIARY AGO SPACESHIP SPACESUIT JUDGE VORKIN WALLINGTON LIBRARY

    EDGY

  • Aw dang I thought this was gonna be the quote where the magazine woman says that edgy is "walking to the edge of a cliff and being able to see all the way down but dancing anway" and Jake said "what the hell does that mean?!" lol

  • anyone else find it ironic Lady GaGa is in the related Featured section?

  • I love her way of viewing things :D

  • It is really funny that Gaga would be a related video. I'm a fan of hers, don't get me wrong, but yes, Daria has it.....

  • Daria perfectly described Pearl Jam and Nirvana.

  • @NikkiLeeSimmons pearl jam is edgy?

  • @NexCarnifex There was a time that is what most people thought. I was never one of them.

  • @NikkiLeeSimmons I always thought their music was pretty mellow and boring :I

  • @NikkiLeeSimmons No, actually.

  • Lolll related video Alejandro Lady Gaga

  • Her voice reminds me very much of GLaDOS from Portal 1 and 2. Anyone else?

  • THIS.

  • SHES SOO COOL :D

  • Daria is Subgenius!!! PRAISE "BOB"!!!

  • Attention gnortznitz, ectoonea and others who miss the point: Marilyn Manson is this kind of "edgy." A nerdy high school anti-consumerist nonconformist is not. Have you ever even seen this show?

  • Strangely enough, "Lady GaGa- Alejendro" is in the suggestions box.

  • That woman who thinks Daria is edgy kind of reminds me of Peggy from King of the Hill. Anyone agree?

  • Attention audience: you are the butt of the satire.

  • Sponsored by MTV... Does that make it less awesome, or more?

  • @JesusLeeMcWashington

That makes it rather ironic. But in the past it was "cool" to think.

  • @KAPANGAAAMASTER I see. One day i will learn...

  • @JesusLeeMcWashington

At the time, "More Awesome." Now it would be "Less!"

  • lol rihanna is "edgy"

  • Now I have just realized why when ever I watched MTV as a teenager. I got depressed unlike the rest off them... I was smart enough to be aware off what It use to be. And while looking at all the gangsters rapping pop punk wannabes skateboarding I could see MTV committed cultural suicide getting rid off black sabbath (and any good music) along with bevis and butthead and Daira... They said MTV was corrupting youth back then. Now the youth off the day will not only be corrupted but dumb too.

  • I can't believe this came from MTV...

  • : D

  • die hipsters die

  • daria....i wish you were a real person...we would have been BFF's in high school...

  • Got to this clip randomly.

    It made my day.

  • Epic.

  • How did MTV go from this to Jersey Shore??

  • @cookieskank29

Trust me, we're all wondering the same thing.

  • @cookieskank29 ... by being "edgy".

  • @Electricspaceodyssey Even The Learning Channel is trying to "edgy." Real housewives of OC is the same marketing crap, except it proves that housewives are even dumber than the average MTV watching teen.

  • @cookieskank29 mtv is the very definition of social hypocrisy

  • @cookieskank29 Simple. Instead of trying to produce quality content to become popular in order to make money, they realised that they already are popular and can air just about anything, knowing that they will retain a large number of viewers, meaning more ads/sponsors and them continuing to make millions. Reality TV shows are also much cheaper and easier to produce than something worth airing, so its a win-win situation for the higher-ups of MTV

  • @cookieskank29 Seriously. How did MTV turn to crap.

  • @cookieskank29 They spread their legs and let the stupid younger "hip" generation fuck them. Not entirely the stupid younger generations fault, MTV is desperately trying to "stay alive". Kind of reminds how my mom is. She's in a mid-life crisis, and also having a personal identity crisis. She (mtv) goes to clubs--taking on the roll of a "cougar" and hunting down young men(audiance) in hopes to prove to herself that she's "still got it"... whatever "it" is.

Oddly very similar to MTV's situation.

  • @cookieskank29

MTV wanted to be more edgy.

  • @cookieskank29 same way America got this way but with a compressed time frame, oh and I think the video will answer both questions if you watch it enough.

  • @cookieskank29 That's what I been wanting to know!

  • @cookieskank29

Because The 90's rocked. Then everyone gave up.

  • @cookieskank29 Sounds like a situation...

  • @cookieskank29 well.. Daria graduated from high school.. wouldn't be the same in college

  • @cookieskank29 I SERIUSLY COULD NOT AGREE MORE. I WANNA MAKE 5 MILLION ACCOUNTS JUST TO THUMBS UP THIS COMMENT xD

  • @cookieskank29 Very horribly.

  • @cookieskank29

    They wanted to be edgy

  • @cookieskank29 The Real World had a hand in it.

  • Why do they lose their appetite after Daria speaks?

  • is this daria from beavis and butthead?

  • @TheWeaselStompers

Yes. Daria was spun off into her own series for five seasons on MTV. This clip is from that show.

  • hahaha its like DIESEL BE STUPID ads i get excited when daria critiques capitalism ..is that wierd?

  • Holy shit, this WAS broadcast on MTV, right?! How ironic.

  • Reminds me of Rihanna.

  • Daria, I love you. Will you marry me?

  • @TheImmatureadult

    Get in line.

  • Omfg. PERFECT reaction. She just explained Lady Gaga.

  • @inasexymood she just explained lady gaga and everything else top 40 radio has to offer.

  • Daria is talking about her very own show!

  • @ectoonea I think they meant it that way ;)

  • @ectoonea But at least she realizes the fact that she's in it for the money.

  • @ectoonea No wonder she's so cynical. She realises her existence is a result of something her core principles of personal integrity howl against!

  • @ectoonea I don't think it's very fair to criticise Daria as trying to be "edgy" to appeal to teenagers. I mean, the show didn't really try to seem dangerous. Its main character was a cool loner, sure, but only because she was too smart to not notice the inanity going on around her, too sensitive to want to deal with it and too principled to try and fit in, and the show depicts just how painful and isolating that can be. Isn't that why it appealed so much to disaffected teenagers?

  • probably the best show to come from mtv..

  • I love Daria.

  • 1 person isn't edgy enough.

  • I love Daria! What a way to drain the fun out of the conversation! lol

  • @skinnyJEANking2 That's why she's awesome!

  • You know what the whole irony of this is? Daria was produced by MTV and essentially told the audience that everything the network stands for is pure crap. Why would they put a show on that absolutely lambastes them? Because it made them seem more "edgy". Nonetheless, it was a good show that encouraged you to think for yourself without ever getting preachy.

And don't tell me this show was produced when "MTV was good" because the "Real World" has been around since 1992.

  • I won't say MTV was great in the 90s but what started off as an annoying trend back then is now the complete and total sum of all MTV programming. I complained my butt off about the stupidity of a lot of their shows back in high school, but 90s stupid can't hold a candle to 2000s stupid ;)

  • Genius.

This show is probably MORE relevant today than it was then, as hard as that would have been to believe for the makers of Daria when it was on the air.

  • If I said that to my roommate about ANYTHING pop culture, he'd criticize and make fun of me. :P

  • @indigothecat Why?

  • @missstyBlueHAZE Ah, what the hell? I'll entertain your question.'

Quite simply, he is a pop-culture child, and thinks I'm too critical of corporate business, private companies, and concepts and media that are specifically designed to appeal to the general public's psyche just so they can make a few bucks.

  • YES!!!!!!! :D

  • lol daria is amazing.. the character AND the show

  • Daria is role models for teens

  • lol this is hilarious

  • someone said i looked like daria today. =)

  • @greygirl9999 Weird. Someone said i looked like Quin. Im a 14 year old native american.

  • @Jetblack96 Oi, someone said I resemble Brittany, even though I'm black and a dude. Maybe we should all cosplay together?

  • @shawakafetima Lawl.

  • Tavi Gevinson alluded to this. Ho yeah.

  • MTV Oddities was amazing!

  • LOL

  • Daria clips should be in a channel, and we can call it "Val."

  • She's right ya know..

  • ah so true
