Good Grief Sonny can be pathetic...Brenda is SOO right. She may go about it in a childish way but she is more mature and and adult about facing her true feelings. Sonny wants to hide behind Lily...he can only show his true face when she's unconcious
Brenda is a baby...if you think about she is barely 21 yrs old during this time. Like she told Sonny once (after he'd left her at the altar & then returned to P.C) she was a girl when he met her and he was a grown man, he should known better than to have started messing with her in the first place. I could see her being that imature as to run off into a snow storm if that meant he'd chase her.
yep, that line 'I grew up loving you' made my heart skip a beat. What she did here was stupid and immature but it was damn good TV. LOL!! ITA, Brenda was so young and in love and she reverted back to her old ways pre-Sonny during this stunt. There will never be a couple like this again in soaps. I'm so glad I was able to watch all of this live. Oh the good ol' days.
@dbreiden83080 she was 18 and he was 30 when they met -- a TWELVE year age gap! brenda was only immature when it came to her insecurity with men, starting with her father. she reverted back to childish behavior then because she was craving for love and attention. but brenda was strong, smart and mature in so many other ways... her modeling, her running L&B, her intuition for people. she was and is an incredible character.
It's bad how desperate she got in these days for his attention. They also rewrote some of this stuff. At first she gets why Sonny had to marry Lilly to save himself but here she is asking "Why he is still with her" well she knows why, he made a deal with her powerful father and he needs to stay with her. Brenda should have moved on to someone else and then Sonny and Lilly could have played out another way. I didn't like Brenda always chasing after this guy
@dbreiden83080 agreed, it was beneath brenda to be so desperate, but remember... her father didn't love her. brenda once told jax she was fat, ugly and had braces as a child and her father only loved julia. he sent her to boarding school, which left brenda with a HUGE need for love and affection. she got that and then some with sonny, so when he left... guess it makes sense why she was desperate to have him again. but don't forget, sonny DID chase brenda later after lily died.

Most people would have cried and gotten over it, but not Brenda - she was destined for Sonny and she wasn't leaving it to chance. He made the crucial errors in the relationship and in light of her history he also made her desperate. It is much easier for men to be with women they dont love but it is almost impossible for women. Lily was never a threat to their love, just an intrusion.
My point is a lot of this is poorly written. If you look back at earlier shows Brenda knows why Sonny is marrying Lily and she also knows there is no way out. He marries her and stays out of jail but it was a deal with the devil there was no walking away. Here she is all confused as to why they are still together, when she already knows why? Plus an A-Plus catch like Brenda does not wait for Sonny when he marries someone else. Too many men would be dying to take his place.

It doesn't matter how beautiful you think a woman is, she has feelings and can't just throw them out the door to rebound with another guy. She wanted to wait for her true love because she didn't want to get over Sonny. She wanted to have that true love feeling again when he's with her.
No Benda knew they just rewrote it as the story angle carried on. She was telling Lilly to her face before this that she knew she had made a deal with her father. And her supposed true love threw her away and disrespected her. That's why the story got a little weak IMO. Sonny treated Brenda badly and she pined away for him. They often write women on GH to be weak and desperate for attention from men. Brenda was one of those characters at times.
@dbreiden83080 - Yea, I'm sorry. I meant to post back to you earlier to tell you to not pay much attention to my first post. After I posted, I remembered that she DID know. I remember that Brenda figured that Lily's Daddy got Sonny for her and that was the time Lily told Brenda that her and Sonny were getting married. And on another note -- The story didn't get weak to me after Sonny disrespected her. I still loved the whole storyline.
@eddiesangel75 ..Sonny would rather fight with Brenda once a month than have those fake trumped up "this where I wanna be" scenes with Lily every day of the week.He lived to just get a glimpse of Brenda. Brenda ran off because she believed in the big love she and Sonny have.It wasn't just Sonny that came to rescue her -he was decieved by his own lies and Lily's constant spinning - it was the force of nature that is Sonny and Brenda.Notice how the elements were in their favor. He had no choice.

That is true, there was like a 10 year age gap between them. Brenda was what like 18 or 19 when they started going out and Sonny was like 29 or so..
